Modern, comfortable room with the shower being good, with a high shower head (7'), plenty of hot water and better than expected water pressure, along with ample amounts of hair and body washes. Friendly staff each day and the counter service restaurant had good food items for breakfast (flatbread pizza was truly tasty) and a limited Starbucks offering. read more

Recently updated Courtyard, with nautical blue and light gray replacing the prevous red and gold color scheme. I like the new brighter colors, but I didn't like the carpeting being replaced by laminate for the most part, except for a strip right around the bed. Nice, larger TV that swivels is an improvement, as well as an upscale faux leather coach. I did not like the AC unit which was as loud as a jet engine, forcing you to constant adjust the volume of the TV. Good breakfast choices and Starbucks coffee in the lobby. I'm not sure why this hotel doesn't have a higher rating. I found nothing to complain about with our stay here last night. The public spaces as well as the room were all very clean. I found nothing worn out and in need of repair or replacement. The staff was really friendly. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone was polite, friendly, and helpful. The room was nice as well. The beds were really comfortable, making it easy to fall asleep and stay asleep. The internet and TV worked fine. I even appreciated the TV channel listing handout. It's a little thing, but it's something a lot of places don't bother with anymore. You even get HBO for free. The minifridge kept our sodas and milk cold. And the shower was great! There was plenty of hot water. LOTS of hot water, and the water pressure was on point. If I had to ding it on anything, it would be that there weren't any USB ports, but that's about it. We'll definitely stay here again if we need another staycation. read more

Place is a complete dump. A new charge around every corner. Big container full of nasty tap water for the guests in the lobby,no business center,laundry out of service,overpriced breakfast options were terrible and the manager was dismissive. We came for a hockey tournament~ Rooms were fine~clean and did the job. The staff was really great though~ almost everyone we interacted with was on their first day of the job. From the people working in the kitchen, to the people at the front desk, everyone was being trained. But that was fine, because they were all very kind and went out of their way to be helpful to the guests. With the exception of the man that prepares the morning breakfast. I get that he must get up very early to set up that breakfast for the guests that opens at 6 o'clock in the morning. But he really is quite rude, was rude to the hockey players, who were just kids, and wouldn't let them so much as touch the food before 6 AM. Everyone was heading out the door for a hockey tournament, and we all needed to be in our cars by six. He wouldn't let the kids even grab a bagel or a piece of fruit before that moment. He wasn't kind about it, and was actually pretty rude. But he was truly the only person on the staff that was anything other than just really really nice. read more

This hotel seems fairly new and looks nice. It's right behind the Sheetz which is convenient for getting snacks. I've spent hundreds of nights at Courtyards and this one has the worst beds ever. It's like sleeping on plywood with a 1" foam topper. The towels thick as T-shirts and the shower curtain had mold. They offer Starbucks coffee, but don't bother. They don't know how to make it. Free wifi, but unless you pay $5 extra it's basically useless for anything except email. No streaming video works. We tried three services. Hotel staff is pretty unfriendly, too. Hotel is clean, but the staff isn't professional. There is rarely someone ready behind the front counter; they always hang out in the back room. I couldn't tell you how many times I've heard them say "oh sorry, I didn't see you walk up on the camera". Elevator is slower than a sloth. I had the "do not disturb" placard on the door, they left a note under the door saying if I call before 1pm I can still get the room refreshed same day. I called at 12:30 and then left the hotel. Came back around 8pm to the same thing when I left. Had to call for fresh towels. The "bistro" has messed up at least 3 of my orders. They offered a free water in exchange for the inconvenience...thanks? Pros: has a gym, laundry, pool Cons: staff needs serious customer service training Not the worst hotel experience, but certainly not good enough to return a second time. read more

To start the hotel is lodged back behind a Sheetz, once we checked in when wanted to go to the pool. Needless to say the water was colder then ice water so that didn't last long. The room was nice with the exception that we opened the window up and there was nothing preventing our 2 year old from jumping down to the roof. We got pretty excited for what we thought was a "full" breakfast. Well we were mis-informed because the breakfast was pretty sad, my wife got 2 eggs and toast and they were charging like $11 for that. Thankful the pathetic breakfast was included but I think next time holiday inn will be getting our business! read more

This place really goes above and beyond. Sure it's just a "Marriott Courtyard." But, this place is different. There is a very positive attitude among all the staff. They have a decent little bar that gets hopping sometimes. The bartenders (especially Amber) are very friendly and make everyone feel welcome. I travel frequently. Flawless overnight stay at the Courtyard by Marriott in Monroeville, PA. I scouted the location on Google maps prior to arriving, and good thing I did, as the entrance was a little tricky (I entered near Sheetz and drove up the hill....SMART.) I was greeted warmly by the front desk staff and check-in and check out was simple and efficient. The room quality was top-notch, actually one of the cleanest places at which I've ever stayed, from the lobby to the room/carpet/walls to the bathroom. I only wish I stayed longer and had time to take advantage of the bar near the lobby, which looked great. This hotel just needs to keep on doing what they're doing. read more

Good front desk people and they have pack n plays for the little ones. We booked on Priceline for under $100 a night and this hotel was easily worth it. We called after booking and they made sure we had a king with a sofa bed. Perfect for our family and the place was clean. The hotel is a little hard to find because the entrance is beside a Sheetz and it goes back at an angle. The Courtyard is on top of the hill. The Sheetz beside it is great for buying milk and coffee. It is nice for an easy run to Idlewild but traffic is a pain if you are driving during the week towards downtown. This a suburban hotel and nice if don't need to go to the downtown area on multiple trips. Rush hour is crazy around here. read more

Accused of marijuana by housekeeping and staining. scrubbed tub but minor cleaning needed. Left Coca-Cola and water. Charged 100 dollars for a violet bath bomb. No manager to call til 3 pm. My husband and I really enjoyed our stay here. Rooms were very, very clean, bed was really comfy. All staff were very nice (front desk, housekeeping, etc), except for the Bistro counter lady (the older blonde lady) - she was not so friendly when I first walked up to order some coffee (I don't know, maybe she was just grumpy/tired), but she managed a small smile as she handed me my change. Things to know: - Free self-parking in their lot (no surcharge to park) - Not sure if all rooms have it, but definitely at least some rooms had balconies (ours' did - yay!). Balcony door lock was a bit hard to lock/unlock but maybe I was just handling it wrong. - Bistro hours depends on how crowded the hotel is: While they were technically open when I went down to get some hot food and coffee, around 9am on a Tue morning they weren't serving hot food yet and only had coffee. - They serve Starbucks coffee at the Bistro (like $2+ per cup) - Food options in case you're hungry before the Bistro is open or if they're closed (and don't want to drive anywhere): Denny's and Sheetz are both within a very short walk from the hotel. From the parking lot entrance: Sheetz (kind of like a nicer 7-11, they have hot foods ordered via a kiosk plus the usual convenience store snacks) is to the left, down the hill from the lot entrance, Denny's is to the right of the lot entrance (you have to go to end of the parking lot, cross over to where The Wooden Nickel is, just past it you should see a small sign with an arrow pointing to Denny's). - From the main lobby, further back there is a fireplace and couches you can lounge on. - Also further back from main lobby, there is a nice patio (I guess this would be Courtyard in the hotel's name) in the back for you smokers - remember to bring your room key to get back inside after - In addition to main lobby, you can enter/exit the hotel via side doors, accessible by your room key - Lots of nearby restaurants and stores (Miracle Mile outdoor strip mall down the road has a Starbucks and other stores. Red Lobster, Primanti Bros, Monroeville Mall, all within a short drive from the hotel.). Thanks to the wonderful and warm staff for making our stay so great! read more

The good. Friendly staff and a nice "bistro" and bar with a fair selection of food. Decent rooms and food. The bad. Shower in my room looked as if it had not been properly cleaned. Some stray hairs from the previous tenant still in the shower. My room faced the "eat and park" across the street. Below me was an outside patio area with a BBQ. I guess the hotel allows, or doesn't care, that folks stay out there and party late into the night. Just about ever night going on midnight there were people outside talking very loud and the hotel staff did nothing about it. read more

This review is concentrated mainly towards the bistro area of the hotel. My wife and I ordered breakfast and our orders came in so late we almost left to go and checkout. My wife's food came out and was not cooled to order, and the waitress totally forgot about my order and I had to go speak to the woman at the register to find out what happened to my food. The waitress comes out and gives me half of my order (I ordered the morning scamble) and when I ask about the potatoes that came with the order, she simply told me to move the potatoes off of one plate that looked like someones elses order and move it to mine. On top of that, she gave me regular toast instead of wheat toast. Staff was out of wack, service was worse than poor, and I would not recommend getting any sort of breakfast from this place. You could save your money going somewhere else for breakfast than this trainwreck. read more

It's Marriott you'd expect much better. First of all, no hot water in the morning for a shower. "No complimentary coffee on the weekends"-is word for word what the front desk told me, so you have to pay for coffee even though I had a free cup the day before. The halls were hot and smelled like greasy food. The whole hotel smelled of greasy food. My son commented that I smelled like a fast food restaurant after I went downstairs to get my morning coffee that I had to pay $2.50 for. To top it all off, there are warning signs that the "elevators overheat with excessive use" and to "please use responsibly". Guess what? No elevator service and I was staying on the top floor. Had to take the stairs to get back to my room. The thermostat in the room doesn't work, therefore we have to guess what a comfortable temperature is for the room. The toilet clogged over and over again and can't trust a flush. The bed is firm and the pull out sofa bed has a bar on it that when my son tried to get into the bed he cut his knee and bled all over the sheets. Had to go ask for new sheets. Also didn't get a pillow for the sofa bed so we had to share one of our small pillows from the four that we had on a king sized bed. I will not be staying here again and would leave but all the hotels are booked up this weekend. read more

I wasn't there long, only from 1:30 am to 8 am on Monday night, 3/17--actually 3/18, based on the time. The room was nice, but my experience checking in was a nightmare. More like a daydreammare; since I was fully awake. I arrived at 1:30 am to a sign that said something like, "Helping a guest, I'll be right back." Fifteen minutes later, I called the hotel with my cell phone, and it rang and rang and rang on the desk next to me. Finally, a guy appeared from the back. I have to believe he was dozing off or enthralled in a TV show. No apologies, nothing. At least he was relatively quick in checking me in, and I was able to hit the hay soon thereafter. read more

I had never stayed at this Courtyard before but was the best stay at a Courtyard I've ever had. They went out of their way for me and allowed me to check in way eariler then normal. They also were really nice to my daughter and called her princess the ENTIRE time we were there because she said this was a princess castle. It's stays like this that are the reason I choose to stay at Marriott properties and not stay at other hotels. I will stay at this single Marriott every time I go to Pittsburgh. Cost was not any higher then almost any other hotel that was not a dump in that area. This was a solid sleepover stop outside of Pittsburg. The people were nice, and the rooms were as expected. the bed and sheets were a bit rough to deal with, but better than most budget hotels. If you need to stop between Chicago and DC, this is a good option. read more

I like staying at Marriott hotels, and Courtyard is typically a reliable place. You know what you're getting...unless the front desk staffperson is bad. We drove in after a long trip and the front desk clerk assigned us to a handicapped room. I came back down and requested a different room. Last time I stayed in a handicapped room at a Marriott Courtyard in Baltimore, I got a parasitic infection (scabies -- look it up). This clerk in Monroeville insisted they were sold out, and all they had left were handicapped rooms. She behaved clearly as if she didn't care and wasn't going to bother with checking on anything else. I stated to my son that we will cancel the reservation and find another place to stay. At that point, she stated that she did have a non-handicapped room, and we could have that. Throughout this transaction, she was completely indifferent, looked like a slob, and had clearly lied to us. I took the room, and next morning spoke with the front desk staff. They were more like what I would expect from a Marriott employee: professional, cheerful, helpful. They said the front desk person from the previous evening was named Toni Cunningham. Are you listening, Marriott Corporate? P.S. The room was fine, the hotel room was clean and spacious and the breakfast food and the café staff were very good. read more

Oct. 2018: My company is located within a mile of the Courtyard. There was an unexpected water main break in our area, which resulted in our office not having a drop of water. It came at the worst time, as we were starting a client meeting. We panic-called the Courtyard (spoke to Skip) who quickly contacted Melissa who then coordinated a meeting room for us in less than half an hour. Skip was providing the room at a cost that was 1/4 the cost of another nearby hotel. A handful of us arrived and quickly learned that the water had come back on at our office and seeing that most of the clients/staff were still at our office, we cancelled the meeting room. Other hotels would have made us give a deposit, but Courtyard (Melissa) wouldn't even accept anything. This is the second review I have ever done, but I wanted it known how courteous, helpful, responsive the staff was at the Monroeville Courtyard. If we ever need to reserve meeting space, I will coordinate it through them! read more
