Someone else's used tissues in "cleaned" room

Checked in, was given room with someone else's dirty used tissues on the floor next to the bed. Room had a ripped shower curtain that smelled like mildew and a ripped pillowcase. Spoke with reception, they said they would replace the shower curtain, pick up the dirty tissues and do a "deep clean" so we left housekeeping a nice tip. Came back, tip was gone but dirty tissues were still there. Upon checking out, we mentioned that housekeeping never picked up the dirty tissues, and the receptionist rudely told us that we would need to talk to housekeeping then. Disgusting, dirty, rude. We're Marriott members and have not been to such a filthy, run-down Marriott before.

This is a really nice Courtyard! If you want to be in the Cultural District or near the Convention Center, you can't beat the location. Market Square is about 1/2 mile away. The building is old but rooms appear to be freshly renovated. I was on the 9th floor and my ceilings must have been 15' high! That meant my room was full of natural light - just gorgeous. I personally did not hear any street noise or noise from other guests but I was staying during the week. My room was clean, comfortable and had everything I needed to work, rest and make myself presentable. During Covid it appears that the restaurant is closed, but breakfast & coffee are available at the connecting Standard restaurant. My breakfast there was pretty awful (super limited options as well) but there's almost nothing open nearby for breakfast or coffee. Dinner is another matter with dozens of cool places within a block or two. Staff was great - really friendly and helpful. I'd happily stay again.

We checked into room 528 for three nights. It was a basic noisy room facing the inside courtyard. There was a very funny chemical smell in the room made it very difficult to sleep through the night. The window was small and the room was dark. We opened the black out curtains and put on all 6 lights yet it still felt difficult to see. Our king bed was comfortable, the water pressure was good, And the air conditioning worked well. We didn't have housekeeping and we had to keep going down to replenish tissues, toilet paper, towels, cups .... We had a bottle of soap, shampoo, and conditioner in the bathroom. We didn't have moisturizers, cotton balls or any other toiletries. We wanted a central location in the Cultural District . When we checked in we were told that this was a walkable city and that everything was a few blocks away. Restaurants, theaters, and the convention center were walking distance. The strip, Andy Warhol Museum, ball parks,Point State Park were about a mile in different directions. During the night we heard conversations through our vents. At 7 o'clock in the morning the doors around us slammed and we heard talking in the hall. At 7:30 the smoking and screaming started in the courtyard. I was surprised at how unfriendly the staff was. When we walked in the morning and in in the evening nobody looked at us or acknowledged us. There wasn't any complementary coffee or water. We had a small old drip coffee maker with a couple of paper cups. We purchased our own coffee and water that we kept cold in the refrigerator. There didn't seem to be a pandemic here. Staff & most guests were not wearing masks indoors and we got out of an elevator when people got inside without masks.

The lobby and staff were very friendly. However upon walking into our room there was an extremely strong smell of cigarette and scent mixed which I didn't like especially having a toddler. But other than that the stay was pleasant.

I stayed at the Courtyard by Marriott in downtown Pittsburgh for a few nights recently. Pros: The staff; kind, quick service and friendly. Valet was quick Location (many great restaurants right outside the door) Safety- you need a key to enter the lobby Rooms- the rooms were really nice, seemed very modernized and clean. The beds were comfortable Cons: I did not enjoy the shower pressure Your only option really is to do valet so it's an additional charge you might or might not be anticipating The hotel got noisy at night which I was surprised by due to COVID On top of that I did feel like everyone was getting off on my floor which made me wonder if they put everyone on the same floor. I've never been on an elevator with so many people since COVID which was a little odd COVID- because of COVID there is no room service or any food options available other than ordering in or from the little stand next to the front desk which only has chips and microwavable meals. Overall it was a pleasant stay. The staff really goes above and beyond. One thing to note is in the lobby I dropped $10 pulling out my valet slip. On my trip back in the guy stopped me and gave me my money back. I at some point knew I had misplaced it, but had no clue where. I was really impressed by that.

I was up in Pittsburgh for a conference that was planned near the Convention Center and was looking to spend less per night than what the conference hotel rates were. I booked elsewhere for a much lower rate and was thrilled it would have been only about half a mile away as I prefer getting some movement in before all-day meetings. Another friend/colleague who had different meetings had booked for a week at this Courtyard and reminded me that Pittsburgh could be quite cold during November. She had booked a year prior and received a great rate per night. We decided to share since several of her nights she was covering on own and this place was only a block away. I'm grateful that I did switch over as it was ridiculously cold in November and was close enough to the Westin & Convention Center. Other attendees had choice of also the Omni Penn which was further (and some even took Uber due to how cold). When I arrived to the hotel, I had discovered that my friend was not there though she flew in the day before. Apparently when she had arrived passed midnight, she learned there was plumbing issues and along with other guests, be moved to another hotel. The plumbing issue was addressed but I then saw her message to me asking me to let her know when I arrived as she had to repack and switch back. Fortunately the front desk attendant was very professional, pleasant and friendly. I had to show that my friend who had made the reservation did indeed want to allow me permission to check in. Initially I was just going to wait in the lobby but after sitting on the couch and saw I could either watch TV or read the newspaper available, I realized that I was also exhausted since I had left my house wee early. I did get to provide my ID, credit card, rewards number and receive the keys. Overall, the room was nice. I thought it was spacious even with two full beds. When my friend arrived, she said the place she just left had much larger rooms. There was table desk and a cushiony chair and ottoman which was useful as the room was missing the valet foldout piece that I'd normally stick my suitcase on. I let her use the chair and I simply used the space in the corner. There was a mini refrigerator but no microwave (I believe there may be a public one near the lobby). The armoire allows you to hang your clothes yet I had a long dress for the Honors Dinner so it dragged at the bottom of it for days. Still was fine with that. Day I was checking out, they were going to show split costs for bill. I was there for 4 nights and with the split, the bill was much higher than what she thought it should be. She was going to speak more in detail with her email from booking her original reservation. She had heard at the other hotel, some sharing how much (or actually much less) their reservation was so this was pretty mind boggling. Overall, nice location especially near the Convention Center. Many restaurants nearby, can walk to the river and see the bridges. Place is clean, nothing extraordinary, no special amenities though the staff were all friendly. The hiccup of plumbing issue and reservation cost which ended up being more than what it would have been with Conference rates were reasons not higher rating.

I always hate staying at downtown hotels (any city) and you get nickel and dimed for everything. While this chain/hotel was not different, it was not quite as bad as I'm used to. For example, I had to pay to valet park there, but it was incredibly convenient. I pulled up on Thursday evening/late afternoon - right to the curb/front door. I only had a couple bags as I was staying just one night - but it was nice all the same to hand someone my keys and not worry about finding a spot and walking a distance with my bags. The hotel did not look promising from the outside. I guess there's not much you can do in downtown Pittsburgh to improve curb appeal. At least it was not at a bus stop or have bums hanging out nearby. The check in desk is a few steps inside. There were 2 clerks working so I didn't have to wait at all. The lady helping me was quite pleasant and efficient. Within 3 minutes I had my key and was on my way to my room. When I opened the door to my room and I WAY SURPRISED. The room was huge and rather elegant. Granted, I'm used to staying at these types of chains of hotels - Marriott, Hampton, Holiday Inn, etc. So I have been in nice hotels. But to have a large room with new fixtures at a downtown location - I just didn't expect it. There was a fridge in the room and coffee machine. Shampoo and conditioner - no lotion. The TV worked well - Directv I believe - and most importantly, they had NFL network so I could watch Thursday night football. The room (711) was very quiet. I don't recall really hearing anyone else on the hall. I requested a wake up call and it came as ordered. Check out again was easy. The only bummer was that I called down ahead of time and requested my car be pulled - but the message never got to the valet so I had to wait after check out for my car to come. I also found the valet and his long, blond, loose, man bun a little disturbing. I guess it's different strokes for different folks. I would definitely stay here again and maybe try out the exercise room next time around.

Zoom in to see the mold and mildew.

Not even worth close to the price we paid. Aka - waaay over priced. The "alternate" cheaper parking option was closed and the charter school a few buildings down was letting out upon our arrival. Kids were running around everywhere and the handful of valet parking spots were being taken by very rude, ignorant folks picking up kids. The hotel, nor the valets didn't seem to care that paying customers were left out having to drive around the block 5-6 times waiting for the insanity to end. The parents parking in the valet spots were feral and not to be messed with. All that for a $38 valet spot finally. One out of three employees were professional and seemed to appreciate their job. The rooms were ok, a little outdated. The shower was in bad shape. Sadly we were too afraid to use the shower because of the stained tub and large amount of mold and mildew. Aside from being close to many areas of interest, this hotel isnt a good choice - never again for us anyway.

I stayed here one night because I thought the trendy Bloomfield neighborhood would provide a nice change-of-pace from the more established downtown area. I was also planning to drive to upstate New York and thought this would be a convenient location for a faster getaway. Well, a sudden winter snowstorm forced me to cancel the side trip to New York, and I ended up spending very little time exploring Bloomfield because I took a long nap in my room after a sleepless night in the previous hotel. Even though it was bordering on pointless to shift to this hotel, I still enjoyed the studio I reserved for $152. There was a comfortable king bed, a fully equipped kitchen, a corner sofa, and a 360-degree swivel flatscreen TV. It was a lot of amenities I didn't need, but hey, it was freezing cold, so the apartment set-up made it feel cozy. One other advantage was a sizable lot to park my rental SUV. Even though they offered a happy hour and continental breakfast, I skipped both. Instead I braved the cold and just strolled on Baum to find a decent greasy spoon for dinner and a quiet gay bar for a drink. Not a bad stay, and I'd consider a return to explore Bloomfield. When we pulled up to the hotel, we parked in an area that the front desk later confirmed was not valet parking and that we were fully permitted to use. Despite this, a man wearing a plain black shirt with no name tag, hotel logo, or other identification immediately approached us and aggressively demanded, "You need to give me your keys now." He never introduced himself, never identified himself as a hotel employee or valet attendant, and never welcomed us to the hotel. Instead, he immediately became confrontational. When I explained that I was not comfortable handing my vehicle keys to an unidentified stranger, he escalated the situation by repeatedly yelling, "Bro, bro, you're not going to disrespect me." We attempted to walk away and continue with check-in, but the harassment did not stop. After checking in, we returned outside to unload our luggage, and he immediately confronted us again. This time, he threatened that if I did not hand over my keys, "there would be consequences." No guest should ever be threatened simply for asking reasonable questions or wanting to verify the identity of someone requesting possession of their vehicle. The front desk staff later confirmed that we had parked in the correct location and acknowledged that this employee's behavior was inappropriate. While I appreciated their honesty, that did not change what had already occurred or the fact that the individual continued to work the front entrance. Unfortunately, the situation only worsened throughout the remainder of our stay. Every time we entered or exited the hotel, this valet employee continued making comments about my group to his coworkers. He would smirk, laugh, and make remarks within earshot of us, often in front of the front desk staff. Rather than feeling welcomed as paying guests, we felt uncomfortable and uneasy every time we walked through the lobby. The hostility that began upon our arrival never truly ended. As an IHG One Rewards Diamond Elite member who spends more than 200 nights each year almost exclusively at IHG properties, I have always chosen IHG because of the professionalism, hospitality, and consistency I have experienced across its brands. Unfortunately, this stay was unlike anything I have ever encountered. In all my years of traveling, I have never felt so disrespected, singled out, isolated, or unwelcome at a hotel. IHG promotes its hotels as places where every guest should feel safe, respected, and valued. That was not my experience at this property. From the moment we arrived until the day we left, I felt that our concerns were dismissed, and the behavior of this employee created an environment where we no longer felt comfortable. This was, without question, the worst hotel experience I have ever had. It has caused me to seriously reconsider my loyalty to IHG after spending hundreds of nights each year with the brand. I hope hotel management and IHG Corporate conduct a thorough investigation into this incident, address the conduct of the employee involved, and ensure that no future guest has to experience the same treatment we did.

The hallways were incredible! And still had their old charm! I even picked up the old fashioned telephone and it rings the front desk! You can use it shall you need something ... if for some reason you cannot enter your room, just pick up the black phone in the hallway and they will come to you (this didn't happen to me, but just a tip if it does). I stayed in room 1470 and absolutely love my view of the gothic architecture of the Union Trust. I looked out my window a million times! The size of my room was huge! I could have done cartwheels all over the place! The WiFi is complimentary for guests. There's cable TV. Maybe other options too but I didn't have my tv on much to know. The water pressure deserves its own special shout out! Holy moly it was heaven! And the brand of washes they had was nice! Usually the conditioner isn't good enough in hotels for my hair but this was just fine! And there's a good blow dryer on the back of the door (I still used my own because I have a lot of hair and it's long BUT had I forgotten it, their hair dryer would have been just fine at 1875 watts. There's a tag on your door that you can hang if you'd like to skip housekeeping for a day and the hotel will donate a meal for doing so .. check out the tag for more info! There's also cards you can put on your bed if you want your bedding changed. I was never bothered in my room by housekeeping. I was never bothered by noise. I never experienced a phony phantom call to my room. (All things I've experienced at other places). You will get a free drink at checkout you can get a beer at the tap room or a coffee at Mellon Square (on site). It is not good for the speakeasy ... and yes, it's a real speakeasy that existed in the 1920s you could access thru tunnels under the city! So cool! On checkout day, the event I attended was going to start early and finish after checkout time. Since I was up late the night before, the front desk said I was welcome to bring my bags down now for bellhop to hold, but they also put me for a late checkout at 1pm so I could come down late the next day too. So partway thru the event just before 1pm I brought down my bags and they held them for the next 90 mins I was there. I parked across the street at the Mellon square parking garage ... Apple GPS marks the garage in the wrong place FYI ... it marks it about a block away but it is directly across the street from the hotel, with the entrance to it being on the cross street. I paid $44 to park there from Thursday around 5pm to Sunday around 3pm. Not bad. They do have valet parking at the hotel too but that is $55 per day I believe. Leaving was sad. I would have liked more time to enjoy this place. I would love to come back sometime! I have nothing bad to say about this place. Wonderful staff and incredible hotel! Thank you for this amazing stay!

AMAZING AMAZING AMAZING SERVICE AND STAFF…read more I came to Pittsburgh for a wedding and ended up at this hotel because my travel partner booked the wrong hotel location (there are two hotel indigos in Pittsburgh). We ended up being 20 minutes driving from the venue instead of 10 minutes walking distance. I was already in a pretty terrible mood. Then, we landed and came in contact with the cyber security issue and everyone's systems were down. This could've made this hotel staff in a bitter mood dealing with angry guests. Instead, they were the NICEST people I have ever come in contact with in a hotel environment; so understanding, helpful, kind, and patient. The room was extremely simple; there is no microwave, no mini fridge, so do not expect to have leftovers for the next day. Breakfast is also not included with the room, which was a bummer. Because of the lack of amenities, this hotel receives 4 stars. We called for support from the front desk twice because our TV was being finicky and we were short on towels (cyber security made us extend our stay, which again, the staff were SO helpful with) and someone was up to our room in less than 5 minutes with help, what we needed, and a smile. The same staff were there my whole stay and were so personable when we arrived and left every time. A couple times, I even made mistakes with checking in or out, asking silly questions, etc. and they never made me feel at fault. If you're in Pittsburgh for a short time and want a place that's away from the crowds, this is a great option!

I'm extremely disappointed in our recent stay at the Hotel Indigo Pittsburgh East. My friend and I…read morebooked this hotel for two nights and I truly wish we stayed anywhere else. We've had great experiences with other Hotel Indigos and we were willing to stay a bit outside of the city to stay at this trusting brand, but we were very sorry we did. While the hotel appears decent on the exterior the rooms are anything but clean. Our trip started with arriving to what appeared to be an okay room. The room/hall had a vague scent of mold but that as the least of our worries. When I went to put my water bottle in the fridge I noticed there was a McChicken from a previous guest. The fridge also smelled so it seemed like it hadn't been cleaned in a while. Upon further inspection the room had multiple stains on our bedding as seen below. I travel often and I have never been in a hotel room so dirty. The floor had clearly not been swept in between guests as evidenced from a penny and some crumbs found near the trash can. In addition to the dirty interior the bathroom and shower were not cleaned. The shower had hair from a guest that was neither myself or my traveling partner. There were also cracks in the walls throughout the bathroom. In addition to the disgusting room the hotel also employs one person for the Valet. The lines to get your car were consistently long and for $32 per night it really didn't seem worth it. If this were a cheap hotel I would simply say you get what you pay for but it's not. I would not recommend this hotel to anyone. While the area surrounding the hotel is decent, the hotel itself is not worth it. You can pay a similar amount for a hotel in a more central location with better cleanliness. The only reason the review is 2 stars instead of 1 is because the AC worked very well and we were visiting during a heat wave. Overall, we will not be returning to this Hotel Indigo.
