Should have known this was a bad idea when pulling up to see the sign by the street missing and only electrical wires left. Got my key and tried to go to my room after check in, but the door key light was only blinking red. Went to the front desk and found out from the front desk that "oh that door does that. You have to try the knob even though it doesn't turn green." The front desk attendant WAS nice but this hotel is a DISASTER. TV nor phones working, run down and feeling unsafe with a door that looks like someone broke in here once and they never repaired the door. Usual cookie-cutter Courtyard, looks exactly the same as all the others, so I never know in which city I am. Very nice staff, gave us snack bags when we checked in late, late at night. It has a decent pool, which sits in the hot sun all afternoon. There is a small workout room off of the modern lobby. Rooms were spacious with medium sized flat screen TVs, a microwave, coffee maker, fridge. Happy hour with drinks is only 7-8, but I missed out having dinner with local family. Very nice shower in a spacious bath with good water pressure. There are outlets on the nightstand and the desk. Terrible location if you don't have a car. There is not much nearby, a few restaurant choices, and across the street is a Sam's and HEB. read more

This new Marriott Courtyard is definitely the best hotel I've tried in Midland. Conveniently located on 191 near Loop 250, the Courtyard is just a few minutes from the airport or downtown Midland and not far from Odessa. A new property, this Courtyard features modern, comfortable decor. It looks identical to the Courtyard in Denton, TX. My guest room was large, with plenty of space for working at the desk. A couch and coffee table provide a comfortable area to relax, and the fridge/microwave/coffee area was out of sight but easily accessible. The flat screen TV was set up so that you could tilt and rotate it to watch from the chair, couch, or bed comfortably. I'm sure that set up was an extra expense for a relatively minor improvement, but the forethough and consideration impressed me. This was my third city in as many nights, and I was ready to go home, but I actually enjoyed my stay here more than in Wichita Falls or Grapevine, partly due to the pleasant accommodations, but more so due to the friendly employees and good service.The courtesy and hospitality of the staff exceeded what I often get at more expensive hotels. I had to cancel my first night at the last minute (9pm) because of a missed connection at DFW, but the front desk didn't charge me and was extremely nice about it. The next day, the front desk found a room for me right away even though I arrived early (10am). Another example of going above and beyond--when a FedEx package arrived for me, the manager delivered it to my room so I wouldn't have to carry the heavy box. I didn't even have to ask! Free parking, a decent fitness center, free internet, in-room coffee maker, mini-fridge, and microwave are standard at most Courtyards, and I always appreciate that. Some Courtyards have free breakfast; this one does not. However, they do have an affordable breakfast buffet with prices based on what you choose (much like a Hilton Garden Inn). I paid about $4 for breakfast and coffee. From now on, this hotel is my top choice in Midland. read more

I'm sorry if I may offend some people, but there really isn't a whole lot to see in the Midland area and it's not very scenic unless you like the many oil well drilling machines that dot the landscape, so staying in a nice hotel can be comforting. With that said, most of the hotel choices are the major chains and depending on which chain you prefer you have many to choose from. Knowing what to expect from a chain isn't a bad thing. You know the room will be clean and the expectation of certain amenities is very comforting - exactly what I received at this Marriott Courtyard. The staff was very friendly and willing to answer any questions I may have had. The property offers a restaurant that serves breakfast, lunch and dinner, a full service bar, pool, laundry facility and an exercise room. In addition to all of that, the room comes with a mini fridge, microwave and coffee maker. It's not far from the airport is a great place to stay whether passing through or there for a business trip. read more

Awful stay away. My room was nasty dirty. I used a wash cloth to wipe down the nightstand. It was black when I finished. When I showed it to the front desk they were completely unconcerned. I contacted customer service and their reply was "well what do you want us to do about it". Sound like good customer service? I don't think so. Stay at the Hilton Garden Inn across the street! Front desk told me they could view but not 'access' my reservation but no problem they would rebook for me. No problem was a big problem. The newly booked rates were $75 more per night than the originals which I discovered at check out. Your fault the manager told me. You should have asked about the rates! What a sham. After 5 years of Gold status with Marriott, I'll switch allegiances to Hilton. I have never had any problems with them. read more

I accidentally booked the wrong night (my fault of course). When I called to see if they could help me out, they refused to help me in any way. I offered the win/win solution of getting discounted room for the correct night but they refused to work with me so I took my business elsewhere. I would have probably taken a $10 discount on the night but they were absolutely unwilling to work with me. I guess they really don't care about making money or customer satisfaction. read more

Had numerous problems with this Hotel. I stayed there because of the bar and restaurant only to find out that it was closed because lack of staff. It had a beautiful glass door shower door that didn't close properly so the water was all over the bathroom floor the telephone in the room was broken so I couldn't call the front desk and the thermostat was broken as well. I stayed here for a total of three weeks and forced myself to wait to write this review to see if they truly deserved 5 stars. An now that those 3 weeks are over, I assure you that they do. On my first morning I noticed that the shower left a large pool of water on the bathroom floor. It turns out that it was missing a plastic seal where the door met the wall. I realized that after my shower the next day didn't leave a giant mess. I can only assume that the maid took the initiative to report the problem herself! Beyond that though there are always those little things that the maid at every hotel do that just big me. Like rearranging my perfectly clean and orderly bathroom effects. Not once did they touch my things in three weeks. They cleaned, replaced what needed to be replaced, and did a great job at it, and I never had to hunt to find my things. In general, the staff was friendly and helpful, but the maids were phenomenal. read more

The room was nice enough but they slipped me into a much more expensive room without warning...beware and don't screw up by not asking the rate at check-in. As business slows down in the Permian these hotels are going to any length to protect their margins....they know and plan to take advantage of "expense account" travelers who everybody knows wouldn't be in Midland if they didn't have to be. For those of you reading this looking for a decent hotel in Midland I first want to ask you....why ARE you in Midland? Seriously? No need to diss the area, I know West Texans have a lot of pride, but I'm a Cali girl. I must admit, I was very shocked by the amount bare land for miles in between each gas station and McDonalds. I made my first trek to West Texas for an impromptu business trip on the way to my friend's wedding in Houston. I've heard horror stories about Midland-Odessa because a colleague of mine used to work there back in the day. For those of you who have no idea where and what Midland-Odessa Tx is....think: Baby Jessica in the well and Friday Night Lights. Seriously, those things took place in Midland-Odessa. Anywhoo, after getting a little lost I found my hotel (where my stay was free btw. Thank you Marriott Rewards!). It looks like it is in the middle of nowhere, but then again I was driving at 11pm. The first good thing I noticed about this place was that parking was FREE and that's always a plus for me. After getting over my happiness of the free parking I make my way to the frontdesk with my heavyweight luggage in tow. One thing I disliked when I first checked-in was that NOONE offered to help me bring my bags up. I understand it was close to midnight, but still! I'm a girl traveling solo with a suitcase that weighs just as much as me! Anyways, one thing I noticed was that this place is a little on the tiny side. I mean, I wasn't expecting a presidential suite or anything. I just couldn't believe how narrow the hallways were and how tiny the elevators were...I mean c'mon....I thought EVERYTHING'S BIGGER IN TEXAS!!?!?! When I finally make it to my room and got settled, I realized what a cute and quaint set-up the room had. It had a little couch, coffee table, desk, my king size bed and of course, my bathroom. There's also free Wi-Fi which is great! I was very cozy, but it was small. It was just me so that was cool. As I was unpacking I did notice noone had taken the trash out and in my room's garbage can there was an empty Diet Dr. Pepper bottle and a wrapper. NO BUENO, COURTYARD! If the maids didn't take out the trash, I wondered in horror what ELSE they may have forgotten to do! Continuing on to the next morning I noticed they offered a breakfast bar. I was greeted by one of the Ying Yang twins who made sure I got my orange juice and coffee and escorted me to the breakfast buffet...which I thought was free until Lil' Jon brought the bill. Ah, well it was a really good spread! As I paid my bill and made my departure, the guy at the frontdesk saw me lug my HUGE suitcase to the car and not once offered to help. Ugh, what happened to Southern hospitality? Anyways, the reason I have this hotel 3 stars is because I was in Midland, what the hell did I expect? And because...it could have been worse. If you're in the area and looking for a place to stay I would definitely stay here. You can't really go wrong with the Marriott and I advise you to belong to their points system. That whay if you have to stay here....at least there's a chance you can get a deal! read more

This Courtyard is conveniently located off of Loop 250 close to restaurants, Target, and the medical centers. Trying to navigate to the parking lot of this Courtyard is a bit taxing. If you are coming off of Loop 250 you basically have to drive through a Sam's Warehouse parking lot to make your way towards the hotel. There is also a bus stop right in front of the hotel, so a bit of transient activity going on. The actual hotel is very nice, and the lobby is spread out with plenty of tables and a nice size bar area. The rooms are a bit smaller than what I expected, although the set up is perfect for business travel. King rooms have small couch, desk, and coffee table. The TV channels actually included Bravo, MTV and E! Win! The bathrooms are updated, but are walk in shower only not a bathtub. Just a note in case you're traveling with kids. The wifi was a bit spotty, but Sam's has free wifi that I was able to tap into. I bought bottled water at the shop downstairs, and both containers exploded when I opened them almost as if they had either been refilled or sat out in extreme heat. Bring your own bottled water-the water out of the tap is terrible which is the same at any hotel in the area. For the price of this hotel, it's a better value to stay at the Residence if they are not sold out. For business travel it will do though. read more

I am a Marriott fan and, overall, this Courtyard by Marriott was nice. First, what could have been better: we had to hold the handle down on the toilet so it would flush, sometimes toilet paper remained. Not a big deal. Some of the tile in the bathroom looked worn. The pool had a cover over it, didn't look like it was in usable condition. We didn't see a jacuzzi. The grass surrounding the pool area was dead and tired looking. BUT: the staff was friendly and helpful. There is a cute cafe/bar in the lobby which is light-filled, spacious and airy. We had breakfast in the cafe and the frittata was wonderful! Our room (we had a suite) was clean and quite comfortable. And the hotel smelled good. I would stay at this property again. read more

Checked in here around 8:00 pm. Good front desk. Got a free drink when I arrived. Room was nice but noisy. Had to run A/C fan to drown road noise. Most restaurants close at 9:00 pm. Food at Marriott is okay. Room temp is good. Breakfast needs to be improved. Waited 10 minutes for someone to wait on me. Could be a 5 star but needs some customer service improvement. They're having trouble getting good staff, as there's a massive staff shortage in midland. The staff they do have are doing their best and the place is clean, bright and convenient. Beware the prices, with the current oil boom expect to pay between $250 and $350 a night for a $110 room! Also, don't order the room service. They just bring you a plate with the food to your room. No condiments, cutlery, cover for the plate or tray... odd. The biggest positive for me is that you can open the windows in the room. Not so at the Townplace Suites nearby, the open window helps air out the room freshener chemicals they use. read more

We first booked our hotel at the Grand Texan (nothing grand about it!) it was to the point that we were worried about our safety. So we decided to move here and let me tell you the relief to know your in a quality hotel like this one! As I was on a business trip for the City of Midland, I was not making the selection of the hotel myself but having stayed two nights at Courtyard Midland, I advise anyone to not set foot on this property. Not only did they bill the wrong card (mine and not the City of Midland so I was reimbursed) but they also failed to return my personal property I had indicated left behind promptly or disclose the shipping cost would be on the order of $76 for a sport coat. The staff could not also get my address correct after twice calling. And before anyone wonders if I took the time to notify the property, please rest assured I did and they did not return that call either. read more

My experience at this hotel was terrible. Let me repeat...TERRIBLE. Don't get me wrong, the amenities are nice enough. The rooms were clean and the beds were fairly comfy. It is the customer service at this establishment that leaves much to be desired! Let me share with you the events upon my arrival... When we first walk in the door and look around, there is nobody to be found. Nobody. (Customer service/Greeting= FAIL #1). We are left standing around for about 5-7mins staring at the walls wondering if anyone really works here. The bartender notices us and does say a friendly hello, apologizes for not being able to assist us and yells for the check-in gal to come help. We are left standing around for several more minutes and in strolls Lexar (at least I think that is her name... She never introduced herself and her name tag was covered, it was just the name that the bartender called for) First words out of her mouth, "What is you last name?" No hello, welcome, how can I help you or even eye contact... (Customer service= FAIL #2) I proceed to give her the information requested, my ID & credit card and explained that I booked 1 reservation for the evening for 2 rooms under 2 different last names with the credit card I handed her through Priceline.com and gave her the confirmation information they provided to me. She informed me that no such reservation existed and that I had the wrong confirmation information/PDF and that the booking number I had from Priceline.com was invalid. (Arguing with the customer= FAIL #3). I asked if there was a manager on duty, or a more experienced Guest Service Rep that could assist me with my reservation she stated no that she was the only person on the property at 3:30 in the afternoon on a Friday. I assume she thought I was unable to read the "Manager on duty" sign listing a Mr. Alan Solovay (Lying to customer, acting entitled and like guests are beneath you= FAIL # 4) She proceeded to inform me that she would just do a different reservation for me, then I, the customer, could call Priceline.com and cancel my reservation and try to sort it out so I am not double charged for my stay, all while failing to note the 24 hr. cancellation policy that Priceline.com has. (Just wrong on so many levels I don't know where to start= FAIL # 5) At this point another uniformed employee is standing by looking shocked and alarmed at how this is going down and recommends that Lexar call another employee "Kelli" who had trouble looking up a Priceline.com reservation on a previous day and seeing how she was able to find it. Lexar rolled her eyes and got on the phone and discussed with this employee how I must not have done the reservation right on my part because everything I had in front of me in black and white was wrong and I should just let them do a different reservation and I, the customer, can spend more time trying to sort it out with Priceline.com to make their job easier... (Just FAIL # 6) Meanwhile, I call Priceline.com. Within 2 minutes of my call, giving them the same confirmation number, my reservation is pulled up and I am placed on hold so the Priceline.com Rep can call the hotel and straighten out the issue. Lexar answers the phone and speaks with the Priceline.com rep and is immediately able to find my reservation. The Priceline.com Rep then came back on the phone with me and thanked me for my business and asked if there is anything else she could assist me with. (Yay! I will definitely be using Priceline.com in the future!) Lexar proceeded to tell me that I didn't give her the correct information or else she would have been able to pull it up and handed me 4 room cards and said "The elevators are over there." Not giving me any kind of orientation to where "over there" is, any kind of information about the hotels accommodations or even what floors my rooms are on. (FAIL #7) The next morning, we inquired about the advertised complimentary breakfast buffet as well as cooked-to-order items to which we were informed was no longer offered. (False advertisement= FAIL # 8) I chose to stay at this establishment based on the accommodations and reputation of the parent company, Marriott. I have been extremely disappointed with my experience with this establishment. I would have received better service at the Motel 6. In the future, I will definitely chose to stay with Hilton or DoubleTree when I travel where I know I will receive the accommodations and amenities that are advertised and where the reputation speaks for itself. read more

This is definitely a newer (seems brand new) Courtyard and it is pretty standard for newer Courtyard properties. Everything in the room and lobby seems new and clean and in good working order. My stay was trouble free and the staff was nice and friendly. There isn't much else close by other than lots of other hotels. It amazes me how full this place can get as to me there isn't a lot in this town. Amazing what a little oil can do. Next time I'm back I'd gladly stay here again. read more

No hot water for the shower, the pool was over chlorinated, no towels, didn't even look like it was filtered, the "fitness center" consists of two treadmills, two bikes and one machine, and the bar closed two hours early with no notice. The entire staff is very friendly, and the hotel is kept up nicely. However, the continental breakfast is lacking. I stayed there 2 nights over a weekend, and the cook was unavailable to work both nights, so they had no food for dinner and no one working the bar. This wouldn't be a big deal if there were other options near by, but the only other place near by mostly had fried food. I was bored out of my mind with no one working the bar and I was hungry with no food. In addition, the hotel should upgrade to a sports cable package in the bar so those of us visiting from other states can watch our favorite teams on TV. read more

The decor of the room was very nice. The bed was fairly comfortable. The water pressure in the shower was great. The front desk staff were very friendly. Just be warned that there is a creaky old pumpjack right behind the pool. Since my room overlooked the pool, that noisy pumpjack kept me up all night. I even wore earplugs, but I could still hear it. For the price of this room, I think Courtyard should add noise cancelling headphones or one of those noise machines with ocean or whale sounds. Also, the glass shower looked very nice, but the one in my room leaked a lot. I could tell it has been leaking for some time because the metal doorframe in the bathroom is really rusty where it meets the tile floor. Instead of fixing the shower door to stop the leaking, it looks like someone tried to paint over the rust on the doorframe to hide it. I will be travelling to Midland at least once a month for the rest of 2012 for business, but will not be staying here again. Since about half the rooms face the creaky pumpjack, there is a 50% chance I will get room that I won't be able to sleep in. If you are hard of hearing, take sleeping pills, or like to sleep with the tv on, then this may not be a problem for you. I didn't ask to get a new room, because the front desk said they were fully booked when I checked in. According to other hotel reviews for the area, most places are booked up during the week. read more

I AM from the midland Odessa area and when I'm giving my oilfield presentations, I'm either here or the Hilton. I digress, the Courtyard is a nice place to stay if you're here on business as it is right on the outskirt of everything. Not a horrible hotel by any means. The staff is friendly and you can always find an employee that is happy to help. They always accomodate me while I'm working and the rooms are nice. If you're reading these reviews and are still wondering if, then do it, it's got a nice bar and restaurant. Keep in mind, it's not the cheapest hotel, so don't expect a bargain. read more
