The Courtyard Marriott is very close to the East Munich rail station. It's very much like any Courtyard Marriott in the states. Almost all the staff speaks English very well. For us, we arrived very early and they were able to provide a room far in advance of normal check in time. That was awesome as we needed a quick nap to fight off the jet lag from flying in directly. The location is easy to get to from the S-Bahn Munich Ost station. They have a bar and restaurant inside. It's a good place to stay if you need one. Well done. read more

Avoid at all costs. The rooms are very clearly not cleaned after each guest. At most the bedsheets are made-up but not cleaned. We found toenail clippings and what looked like gum or some packet attached to a table. The only good thing about this place was the location. read more

The Courtyard Munich City East is located about 10 minutes from the city center, but has a very convenient location. Located only minutes from the Ostbahnhof it is an easy walk to the hotel. After exiting the station, make a left and the main road will take you there in minutes. If loaded with luggage, you can also hop on the #19 tram which almost drops you off directly in front of the hotel. There is also a small super market across the street from the train station, so you can load up on supplies such as water and snacks. The hotel has a somewhat strange set up, as it is directly linked with Marriott Residence Inn next door. You can access both hotels from the lobby, or even on each floor of the hotel. As you enter the hotel, the front desk is slightly to the left. Check-in was quick and my Ritz Carlton Platinum status was quickly recognized. To my surprise, I was also informed that as a Platinum member I could also have breakfast in the restaurant. Courtyard typically doesn't provide breakfast for guests no matter what their elite status may be. I was upgraded to a Superior Room, which is somewhat large by European standards. It is not cramped by any means as there is ample room to maneuver around the room. I redeemed a free night certificate for the room thanks to one of the frequent promotions Marriott runs almost every quarter in which a free night certificate is awarded for every 2 stays. The certificates are typically for Category 1-4, or 1-5 hotels. For some reason, rates were very high during my stay. I stayed after Oktoberfest, but rates were ~€450 per night. As you enter the room, the bathroom is to the right. There is a single sink with ample counter space. There is a shower with no tub. Water pressure and temperature were excellent. There is a small desk with not much work space. If on a business trip and a large work space is needed, this might be a bit of a challenge. The coffee maker is located on the desk. There is a small sitting area with chair. The bed is a bit firm, but comfortable enough to get a good night's sleep. Breakfast is served in the restaurant next door at the Residence Inn but can be accessed without leaving the Courtyard property. The buffet is expansive with hot items including scrambled eggs, hard boiled eggs, bacon, sausage, hash browns, roasted tomatoes, oatmeal and beans. Cold options include bread, pastries, bagels, fruit, yogurt, cereal, smoked salmon and meats, salad and a wide array of juices to choose from. The Residence Inn section of the hotel does have a washer and dryer for use. You need to buy tokens from the front desk. It costs €4 for the washer and dryer. The dryer is not very efficient, and if you open the door during the cycle you would need to put in another token. It would probably take 2 drying cycles to dry your clothes though. Although not in the city center, the hotel is very convenient to get to and a little bit closer to the airport. I wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. read more

This place sits a little bit outside of Munich and its a combination of Courtyard and Residence Inn. The staff is so nice and they go out of their way to help you make sure you are comfortable. They have the happy hour and they actually have FREE beer, good German beer. I'd come back again just for the free beer. read more

Got a great deal off of Priceline, Name your own Price. It was close to everything, 3k in any direction to get to the major sights. The S-Bahn was next door. There is a card slot to turn on the A/C or heater and some of the lights. Kinda ghetto but energy saving at the same time. We were given two cards so we left one to run the A/C since it was really hot in the room. The A/C wasn't that powerful and it took all night for the room to be cool. The mornings were great though! Parking is ridiculous expensive. 20€ a night with no street parking. The bed was not a typical Marriott bed. It was very firm and the pillows were firm as well. If you are expecting to sink into bed, forget it. The only sink is in the bathroom. Overall the hotel was clean and quiet. There is a restaurant downstairs and room service is available. We ordered a kinder bed for our toddler that came with sheets and a pillow (not typical for hotels). No free WiFi in the rooms but in its free in the lobby for 45 minutes. They had movie rentals but from 3-4 years ago but at first run rates. This would be great for the business traveler. read more

A comfortable and affordable hotel in the preferable eastside of Munich. My wife and I stayed here for nearly a week during our month-long drive through central Europe. We prefer Marriot properties whenever possible and were very pleased to find this modern and well-appointed hotel at an attractive rate. The facilities are clean and inviting and the staff are friendly and helpful. At the front desk, we found Tim to be particularly knowledgeable and he offered us wonderful restaurant advice. The hotel is in a convenient end of town and several restaurants, shops, a neighborhood flea market and the U-bahn station are all within a reasonably short walk. If you want delicious traditional Bavarian food in a casual setting, try Gaststätte Zum Brünnstein just down the street -- yummy and well priced. We would definitely stay here again and can happily recommend this Courtyard Marriott. BTW, the Residence Inn is just next door and offers in-room kitchens and an included breakfast buffet for about the same price. Either hotel would be a fine choice while staying in Munich. read more

We stayed at the Courtyard Marriott Munich City East just before embarking on a river cruise of the Danube in December 2017. The look and feel of the interiors were different than that of the new refresh that the Courtyards in America have undertaken in the last couple of years but it was not stale or outdated in any way. The staff all spoke English and were friendly and helpful. I was a little annoyed that the desk attendant seemed unable to combine my reservations into one, rather than making me check out and check in again (I had made one night's reservation with my free certificate and had to book the other nights separately) but oh well. The hotel itself is about a 15-minute drive outside of the main city center of Munich but that is also how long it takes by subway, which is conveniently located a short 5-10 minute walk away. There is not much of anything nearby but there is one very authentic German gastropub located halfway between the hotel and the subway, which proved very entertaining and gave us quite the local feel. The breakfast buffet was very plentiful and provided many options for American and European tourists alike. It is rather more expensive than we anticipated and no one told us that there was a fee when we inquired nor how much it was. This I found very upsetting when we checked out and I got the bill for 80 Euros for the three of us to have breakfast just one day. The buffet was nice but not 26 Euros apiece nice. Yet another reminder of the frustration my fellow Marriott Elite Status holders have with Courtyard Hotels not giving us free breakfast when we stay at them, but I digress. As we were not staying at the hotel very long and had only a limited amount of time to see Munich itself, we did not spend much time in the hotel other than to sleep so I cannot comment on too much about the hotel's amenities other than to say that the beds were very comfortable, as we have come to expect from the Marriott Beds, and the rooms were clean and cozy. Sadly, as the hotel is in a fairly industrial part of Munich, there are no views of anything other than apartment buildings or the street, so not a place to stay if you actually want to look at something while in your room. I can review the fitness room, which is on par with most hotel gyms. There are 4 treadmills, two ellipticals, and two bikes as well as two workout benches, a full set of dumbbells, a couple swiss balls and a handful of floor mats in addition to bottled water and towels and three flat screen televisions on the wall in front of the cardio equipment. It made for an adequate workout to burn off that authentic German food. read more

Stayed here for a week earlier this month and really liked this hotel. It was clean, modern, and the employees were extremely friendly, literally every single employee I encountered was extremely friendly and helpful. Conveniently located near the Munich Ostbahnhof, the location of the hotel made getting around Germany convenient. They also offered a daily breakfast buffet that had an incredible amount of variety. If an when I go back to Munich, I'll definitely try to stay here again. read more

First of all I'm a Marriott Fan so that's why they are receiving 3 stars. Hotel reception was very helpful and the room ( especially for Europe) was large and comfortable. Here is where the problem comes in. The breakfast was not included because we were not planning on using it. We were running late so I asked my wife to ask the price of the buffet while I checked out. She returned and told me 11 euro each. I said ok and she and my son proceeded to go to the buffet. I waited in line to checkout. At checkout I was told the bill was 66 euro for the breakfast for 3 not 11 euro each as my wife was told. When I questioned it I was basically ignored. Not good as a Platinum Elite member. read more
