My second time staying in this area. It's more like a residential area, not like typical area surrounded by other shops/hotels/restaurants. It's like every other courtyard, the accommodation is simple. No breakfast included but there's a bistro for breakfast items in the morning and for some drinks at night. I especially enjoyed chatting with Colleen about the hotel, the importance of experience when you're staying in a hotel and the area. The room I had was on the fourth floor overlooking the water. We just stayed at this hotel and our first room we had was smelling of cigarette smoke. We requested a new one and it smelled better but then out bathroom sink was clogged. The shower had mold and rust in it. There was a wrapper on the floor that didn't belong to us. Beds were decent. read more

I have been staying here since this hotel was pretty new. That was pre-pandemic so it has been awhile but it still is clean, well kept and had a super friendly staff. Colleen at the desk was super chill as were both the gal in the Bistro in the morning ( she watched by bag while I ran back to the room quick) and the night bartender. He took good care of me even though I was just getting take out. Great workout room and pool with hot tub. I always try and get a room looking out towards the river, it is a nice back drop and on a clear day you can see Mt. Hood. All hotels take a beating over time, people are rude and filthy but this place still is great place to stay if you don't want the hassle of downtown. read more

For accommodations, this place is comfortable, nice little place to get away especially if visiting the Portland area. It's far enough away from downtown, for it to not be too busy. A lot of reviews I read talk about the parking situation being slim, but since they're a Marriott, they share parking with other Marriott branched hotels in the area. You can either park in the underground garage our in the lot across. Since I have a longer car, I decided to take the latter option. We got the room with 1 king bed, amenities were all there, a fridge, microwave, large TV. The bathroom was somewhat dated, but it was fine for us. Bed a little too soft for our liking. The patio/courtyard area is very open and inviting, I bet it's really nice here in the summertime. We booked with the breakfast option, and it didn't disappoint, I had the continental breakfast which included a parfait and a bagel. While my partner ordered the breakfast quesadilla. Not bad, their coffee was coffee-ing as we like to say. Great experience! Will plan on staying here again next time we come to Portland for an overnighter read more

I've stayed at other courtyard locations and generally enjoy them. The layout of this one was a little different, but the way it was built made it feel more safe. It's up on a hill with an underground parking garage with a solid gate, not just a raising arm for access. The courtyard itself overlooks the harbor. Plenty of seating, spacious and peaceful. Pool is indoors which makes sense for the weather here. Bed was quite comfortable, as I expected. Room was clean, looked new or newly renovated. Annoyed that I didn't remember there isn't coffee in the lobby here. There is a keurig in room, however. Also a cafe inside with coffee for purchase. Hotel wasn't very occupied, nice and quiet. I found a great rate by booking through the Marriott app. Rate included complimentary airport transportation, a generous amount of savings over Uber or Lyft on my own. I contacted the front desk to ask about transportation, and they sent me a text to click on when I was ready to be picked up, which went thru a special version of Lyft for businesses so nothing out of pocket for me besides tip- bring cash for that; you can't tip thru the browser unless I just didn't figure that out. I was not visiting for fun, however, if in area; I would recommend staying here and I would stay here again myself. read more

My family and I stayed here for two nights with our sweet belgian dog. JUAN checked us in and he was very welcoming the moment I entered the door. They are PET-FRIENDLY which is a huge plus, I believe it is $75 for the entire stay. Location: Quiet and secluded area where no one quite bothers anyone. There are other hotels across the street that are also Marriott as well. Parking: They have a parking garage, but they are not for big cars like suburbans or sequoias as they have big pillars in the garage that makes the parking spot small. It is a key in parking garage and you must have your hotel card to enter. They do have an overflow parking across the street. Interior: Rooms are very spacious. The room came with a microwave, desk and chair, and a refrigerator. It also had a keurig for your morning cup of coffee, but we didn't use it. Amenities: The pool and hot tub were the best part. The pool is heated so my family and I ended our night in there after a long day in Portland. Pool and hot tub are open till 11PM. They also have a beautiful outdoor area that included a fire pit and extra seating if you just want to relax and enjoy some fresh air. Fitness center is also included that opened till 11PM as well. Laundry room only has ONE DRYER AND ONE WASHER. It is $2.00 per load. Overall, 5/5, I would recommend this hotel if you are checking out Portland or just need a vacation. read more

Poorly managed, impossible overpriced parking, no breakfast, rude staff. I arrived (pregnant with twins) and was charged $10 for parking. I go to the garage and there was no parking, mostly because many cars were taking two spaces or a large oversized truck was parking in a compact spot. I asked for a refund. Refused. I asked if they could tow illegally parked cars or contact the guests to move them. She laughed and said "no way we can't do that" When I point out how extremely pregnant I am, she tells me to park in another lot not near the hotel, in the dark, at 11pm at night. I point out how this would be dangerous for me, especially with luggage, and she shrugs. Another guests suggests I park in handicap. I ask if that is okay, and if I would be taking a spot from a handicap guest. She shrugs and says "IDK whose coming" That said, the rooms were clean and seem to have been remodeled recently. Nothing in the bathroom (no shampoo or soap), the beds are okay, the air conditioning (window unit) barely works and is very loud. The rooms are not quite. I was surprised I could hear highway traffic and hallway traffic. The view isn't bad if you face the water. They offer no breakfast and the faux Starbucks doesn't offer much for sale either. Being such a remote hotel, I expected more. We stayed here because it was so close to cirque du soleil but I regret not driving a few more minutes deeply. Lastly, checking took almost 20 minutes, and they required my credit card multiple times. I'll have to check my statements now to make sure I don't have odd charges. There was no internet. read more

I cannot say anything good about this hotel. from the check in experience. The quality of rooms (The showers and sinks over flow). The restaurant staff and hotel staff are less than hospitable. We had a horrible experience at the hotel restaurant. Especially with Cameron. Who needs some retraining. Food was terrible and extremely late. We couldn't eat togeth. and I had to ask several times where my food was after the table had been served. When the check came I asked for a manager and Sharon had left. NO MOD on property! At 9pm We'll I explained to Cameron that I would not pay for the food but we would pay for our drinks. He very Intimidatingly told me I either accept his 15% off of he would call the police for theft of service. I accepted his strong arm we paid the bills. I am next contacting Marriott and waiting for Carol the manager to call me. Also Juan at the front desk at check in left us at the desk because he had to use the bathroom. And any request was followed by a scoff. This hotel is not welcoming at all. Except the bartender who the hotel sets up for failure with no help on a busy night do to the boat parade. How is there not a MOD when they open it to public to come watch the parade. On to Corporate complaints I go and every review site I can. read more

Great Staff , beds are comfortable location is scenic but the service was not available. I was there visiting family and friends nearby for Holiday week. My wi -fi in room was in/op & my TV unable to program, lighting difficult to operate , the fan continued after I turned it off so I either had to have air blowing hot air or air conditioning could not turn off fan. I could not get any black tea for my room as the housekeeping staff could not find any and the staff on my floor only spoke Spanish. So I could not even make a cup of tea in the room! The room was facing a construction site of new apartment building being built. ( They probably since it was so empty could have offered a better room for me since I am a member of Marriott's Program ?) I was there for Thanksgiving week 2024 and was expecting to get a free breakfast daily. The day I arrived I went down to get a breakfast and was told they got a notification (probably because of low reservations to shut down the Kitchen for the Holiday week) The next morning it was available they figured out a mistake had happened and they meant only shut down after the free breakfast time was over! I was able to get a wonderful breakfast (this is a Starbucks staffed counter to order from. Jon from the staff there made me an excellent breakfast scramble with Black Tea! Jon made up for the no breakfast the day before and offered any of the items on their menu to prepare for me to go! It was delicious and very kind of him to offer more! The staff at the front desk was very accommodating and made up for some of the glyches I had experienced. Rain at the front desk was able to assist me getting something for Breakfast....I only asked where to get the Breakfast and showing me where a eatery down the block might be open to get a breakfast. ( It too was closed but when I came back she gave me a small cup of oatmeal to make from their small pantry store when I returned hungry). The staff at night and the morning were both great. Rain was helping me get set up with getting an Uber as my phone had a breakdown and couldn't order it myself! The evening staff tried to reset the wi fi and could not give me any instructions on how to reset the tv or program it to work! They had a beautiful large deck facing the River and in photos had a fire pit lit up at night. I had to ask the deck if they could turn it on as it was windy and cold out on the deck... (Since I was only one out there they had never turned it on! probably to save energy. ) My original reservations was made I thought directly with the Hotel as I looked up a phone contact for Marriott North Portland and thought I had made my reservation directly with them..( if you search online you get directed to Expedia's phone contact not the Marriott~. When I arrived at the Marriott they informed me my reservation had been made through a 3rd party so it was processed thru Expedia not directly thru Marriott? That meant I could not have them change my reservation would have to contact Expedia to make any changes? ( I had received a phone number from my daughter to call for a pick up from PDX when I arrived around 10 30 pm at the airport. It but at the Portland North Marriott and that they did not have airport pick up available. So I did not arrive at this Portland North Marriott till very late at night after waiting for a Uber to take me to the correct Marriott! So it was fast to check in and I was told about the free breakfast in the morning at the Star bucks near the front desk... It was the next morning that I found out they were given the notice to shut down their Restaurant for the rest of the week. First time at this location for a Marriott Brand Hotel, From arrival to checking out they do provide a complimentary Shuttle to PDX Airport about 25min depends on traffic and check with hotel for pick up times. Staff greeted us upon arrival , Nice lobby area with Starbucks//The Bistro with food and beverage and a full bar. They offer Free High-Speed Internet , Fitness Center, Pool , NO Pets Allowed at this hotel and On-site parking. Our room a clean and fresh King with sofa bed, Tv , mini fridge and a view of Columbia River. Do they have a coffee maker? YES , no complimentary bottled water on our stay, but yes they do have complimentary toiletries like toothpaste and toothbrush if you forgot to pack them. Ahhh the patio nice space with a gazebo for weddings? a firepit seating area nice on cool starry nights or just relaxing and a beautiful fountain. They also have 4 event rooms for meetings or weddings NICE! The area , it's near University of Portland , Portland International Raceway and Portland Expo Center where you can walk from the hotel on a path about 10mins to catch the max light rail YELLOW LINE to Downtown PDX. Came here as our flight was delayed and enjoyed our stay. It's about 20 minutes from the airport and there is a free shuttle that will pick you up and drop you off to and from and the airport. The best feature of this hotel is indeed their shuttle that will take you anywhere within 5 miles. It may take some time for the shuttle to arrive to you, but you can't beat a free car ride! We were able to get doughnuts and burritos during our stay! The floors are a bit sticky and the couch within the rooms are pretty dated. There's a lovely walk along the water that you can take and watch the sunset in. The pool and hot tub area are clean and the gym is a bit small. read more

My fiancé, daughter, dog & I stayed here as he was on a business trip. Cozy rooms with a nice tv that swivels outwards/side-to-side. The bed's are comfy with good comforters and they had both firm and soft pillows so you're able to take your pick. The pool is heated and the jacuzzi was a plus, I took my daughter to go swimming and we had both to ourselves. Score! We liked the bar/bistro, the bartender gave great service + was a good conversationalist-just that it was a little overpriced. Not his fault. He did make really good drinks, though. Plus, the food was great. It's unfortunate they didn't offer breakfast, but on the bright side it's only a 10 minute drive from Portland which has lots of food options to choose from. (I'd suggest avoiding busy traffic times which will double your commute time.) The parking garage is convenient but getting to it is annoying as the street it's on has cars always parked on both sides so when there's a car going on either side it's a bit of a squeeze, plus there's a bunch of reckless drivers from the surrounding apartments who don't look as they're pulling out so be mindful. The two biggest downsides to staying here were that one, there was construction going on late at night (past 10p) which made it hard to fall asleep. And second, there were a ton of fruit flies flying around the room which made it uncomfortable to eat in there, I lost track of how many I had killed after 5. read more

From the hotel, It's late August summertime - dry, fire alerts , clear skies, no rain in sight; but the views, north, west and east are WOW. more specific: Mount Saint Helens to north and Mount Hood(blocked partially by a building) was spectacular. It's 8:45 pm, it's still light on the patio, our water side view from the 4th floor balcony with water craft and house boats on the island between us and Columbia River, below, fire pit, tables and deck chairs, people coming and going. Above the airlines taking off from PDX, sea gulls and fly overs by local duck and geese; so lots going on. The hotel is built up for the view. Lobby is spacious and leads to the curse of two small elevators to parking below and rooms above (you want the rooms with windows facing water north). The staffing, lack of hotel maintenance and housekeeping are hurting this hotel. The room after AGM Spring and Teresa recleaned was great, their recovery saved the stay and added A Star to our review. read more

To start my wife and I are long time Marriott Bonvoy and Vacation Club members. Long enough that we're at Titanium Elite or some other such nonsense rating. Generally speaking Marriott is always a nice place to stay, this Courtyard is an exception. The desk representative on the night of March 1 was particularly indifferent and seemingly more concerned about the woes of Goth life via modern society, no greeting, none of the usual pleasantries, no walk through of your membership status (that something you buy into and is a big Marriott selling point) etc. Note that almost everyone else working here is very nice and friendly. Got our keys, up to the 4th floor, keys don't work, come back down get a new set, thankfully these work. The parking garage is a bad joke, these are more smart car spaced than anything else. Room and grounds are generally clean. Room bathroom is a disaster (see attached pictures). The shower head curve pipe has a hole in it so a stream of water constantly shoots out of this over the shower curtain onto the floor.....no way you can fix this outside of maintenance, so each night or morning when you use the shower the bathroom floor is full of water. (note this must be a long term issues as the water hits the top hings of the bathroom door and its completely rusted out...see pic) They also fail to mention they only do housekeeping every other day so you have to live with that water for 24 hours. Tub ceramic is cracked (see pictures) rust down the shower wall (see pictures). Come back to our room the 2nd day, again keys don't work. Get new keys to the room, front attendant, very nice young man says "our key system is horrible and very outdated, we have to replace keys all the time. Day 2, coming home from shopping, again, keys don't work, back to the front desk, new keys, mention the shower leak (still no one to fix that). If you are a frequent Marriot Member, Platinum, Titanium or some such do not expect this Courtyard to honor any of the contractual benefits you get at other Marriotts. read more

This was my first time ever staying at the Courtyard, Portland North. Upon arrival, I was so warmly welcomed and appreciated for my status by Grace and Oscar. They already made me feel at home. They said they had never had a guest with my status there before. I was upgraded to a corner king, as requested and I had a beautiful, spacious room. My view overlooked the water and I look forward to opening my curtains every day as the view truly enhanced my stay there. For the amenities, they have an outside courtyard with a fire pit, a 24 hour fitness Center that is much on the smaller side but with a great view of the water, and a smaller pool and hot tub. They have their restaurant downstairs, and I was disappointed as an elite member-there was no complimentary coffee and breakfast every day although they did not have a concierge lounge. The people at the breakfast place were so sweet every morning. There was one day I wanted oatmeal, and then I tried to order something else, and they were out of just about everything. I couldn't be upset because she was so sweet. They were very kind to bring waters to my room every day that were complimentary. At least that part was. Underground parking is kind of a mess. It's really tight quarters and truly only made for compact cars. I parked across the street at the Residence Inn lot where I felt more comfortable. They give you a parking pass that you put on your dash and you're good to go. Overall, if ever in this specific area for work, I would definitely stay here again and I appreciated the warm welcome and recognition for my status. read more

Rooms are fine, the parking lot is tiny and yes they charge. My issue is there was no one at the front desk when I tried to check in at 7:45pm on a Saturday night. I waited over 40 minutes for someone to come to the front desk. In that time three families came to purchase food/drinks and left and came back to try to pay and gave up. A security guard came to say he will find someone and he said the front desk worker was in the bathroom, but it still took twenty minutes after that. No real apology after he came back. Seems very frustrating to have to wait that long. Especially when I have a tired toddler with me. For almost $250/night, I feel as though the service should be better. However, on a positive note the people working the next morning at the breakfast area were fantastic! read more

Update: Marriott stepped it up and gave me an option for a major room upgrade. We'll done Marriott. I'm mostly through my stay now, but good for them for trying. It's why I am loyal to their brand. So I chanced this property again and what a major let down. As a platinum rewards member, I am a marriott loyalist, but his place is awful. The desk clerk told me my room (303) offers an awesome balcony river view. This room not only has no river view, the view is awful. When I arrived at my room, the door was propped open by a rag. I called the front desk, they said " don't worry about it". Creepy feeling, no apology. There was no remote for the TV The desk chair has pulled fabric, the walls have scuffs, the bathroom tile is dirty. A week later the elevator is still in disrepair explained by a lame sign put up with blue painter's tape explaining the potential for a five minute wait and filler chit chat that says " drop by the front desk with any questions, comments or concerns." This hotel only gets two stars based on decor and how outdated the hotel is. If it was 1985, this would have been the place to be. The harbor view is breathtaking, and the lobby is classy. But this is 2015, and many things are missing, such as an outlet by the bed for my phone-since I (and everybody else) use it as an alarm. The JW Marriott I stayed at last week had an alarm clock I could set my iPhone 6 on to charge-I like that. I've been Marriott platinum for 10 years, and I can't remember EVER seeing an orange couch with polka dots. The Courtyard furniture was green, then red, now gray. The staff is super friendly, and will do their best to accommodate your needs, but this place drastically needs a remodel. The parking below the hotel is great, but skinny spaces. My jeep couldn't fit into one spot, I had to park into two spaces. read more

We stayed during my daughter's softball tournament 6/16-6/18/23. Considering the area, we were looking for a hotel with secure parking. We were happy with our stay for the most part. 1. Pool had huge clumps of hair in it - filter wasn't working. Didn't feel like swimmingly around in hair so we only used the hot tub Also, no one had cleaned up from the night before so the pool area was a mess with bottles (glass and plastic) and ice cream containers everywhere. Also, we had to ask for towels - there weren't any clean ones available 2. Wasn't able to take a shower after my wife- drain was clogged. I would have flooded the entire bathroom if I had. As someone who works in reconstruction and insurance loss, I would have the area checked in room 331 for moisture and mold. 3. Someone parked where they weren't supposed to blocking us in. The hotel put a sticker on the car saying no parking but didn't bother to get it towed until we said something so we were trapped at the hotel for hours waiting for the tow truck - losing out on tickets and a day of our vacation 4. Only bright spot was the guy working at Starbucks - John - was a ray of sunshine and maintenance guy, Jessie, who stayed with us and moved a fence around to get another car out so we were able to leave. read more

The staff here are so rude and not very corporate friendly. The man who checked us in for our stay told us we should just delete the Marriott app because it is "useless" Doesn't seem like a big company like Marriott would make an app if it truly didn't do anything, and I can't imagine a company wanting their employees to tell guests that their services are worthless. We booked a king room and asked specifically for a river view, but I guess we should have clarified that we did not want a handicap accessible room more so than we wanted a river view. We were put in the first floor, just a short walk away from the front desk, to room 104. We were told there was no way we could be moved when we asked if there was a room that was not ADA accessible. I always feel a little guilty using one since I don't need it. The room itself is okay. You can't actually see the river since it is on the first floor and the courtyard is right in front of the window. People can, and will see straight into your room. After the uncomfortable room, and the beyond rude staff, we won't be back to this Marriott. read more

They ran the AC throughout the building in December. I travel frequently and Courtyards are my preferred hotel. Everything was fine, except that my room, the hallways, and the fitness center were absolutely freezing. The air vents in the hallways and gym were blowing frigid air, and the heating unit in my room would randomly switch from heat to AC. The strangest part was that the hotel staff seemed completely oblivious. The hallway thermostat had an actual temperature if 55F, and I seemed to be the only one who was cold. Courtyards are usually reliable and consistent....but not this one. read more

Witnessed drug deals, dumpster diving & heroine use while attempting to find parking to checkin, but told at checkin they overbooked over 7 to 10 families reservations and gave us option of move over to Fairfield Inn across parking lot. Would have left area completely but staying with team (youth baseball tournament) Would NOT recommend for team hotel!! NOT recommend if you are traveling alone or with pets OR children, NOT SAFE at night & questionable during day unless on patio side or out on hotel room balcony. Noise level of street traffic/racing getting onto on-ramp for freeway nonstop HORRID noise . I had to travel to Portland, OR for a work event and stayed at this hotel for 2 nights, April 10th and 11th, 2017. I must say I was COMPLETELY dissatisfied. There were multiple reasons that made this by far the worst hotel stay I have ever encountered, especially since my first stay was awesome: King room, fourth (top) floor, sunken jacuzzi tub... Not this time. 1) To start, I booked my room 2 months prior to my stay and requested a king room and was given a confirmation reservation for a king room upon arrival. When I arrived and checked in and walked into the room, it was a room with two double beds. This is not a make or break for me, however I really wanted a king room so i figured I would call the front desk to see why I didn't get what I reserved, and to see if they had any kings available I could move to. When I went to call the front desk from the double bed room, the room phone didn't even work so I had to call from my cell phone. Finally, I was able to get moved to a King room 2) Once moved to a king room on the first floor, it was directly across the lobby bistro restaurant, and the room was directly next to a conference room and a conference was going on the next morning, and the whole next day and I could hear EVERYTHING that was being talked about due to the thin walls. 3) Third, the hotel had construction going on however I didn't receive notice of this until the day before. The hotel emailed me the day before saying there would be construction and it may be noisy from 9AM-5PM. However, on my second day, the construction was going with very loud noise until almost 7PM. 4) The hotel website states every room has a mini fridge and microwave. They do in fact have them, however the fridge was absolutely ridiculous. I bought perishables and drinks to keep in the mini fridge so that I did not have to eat every meal out, but the mini fridge has a button that only allows the fridge to stay on for 2 hours. 2 HOURS REALLY? What are you supposed to do while you are sleeping, get up every two hours to make sure the fridge is on. Needless to say, my perishables went bad. These mostly sum up the issues. There were only minor other issues that were tolerable but these four were not. My company uses Courtyard Marriott and books them for every employee that has to travel and we are one of the largest companies in the Pacific Northwest. I will be making sure to get in touch with the department that handles hotel reservations for employees to let them know how horrible of an experience I had and how much I recommend choosing another hotel chain in the future. read more

Every single hotel in downtown was booked the weekend I tried to go down to get away from Seattle. I tried this place out because it was close to the light rail and have had ok luck with courtyards in the past. The hotel it self was fine. You even get free underground parking with your room. There is a shuttle that will drop you off at the light rail and pick you up if you call ahead but it is only like a mile walk otherwise. The room was fine though why the 1980s clocks and phones I'll never get. If you are looking for a decent place away from downtown this isn't a bad choice. read more

My fiancé and I ended up staying one night at this place through making our own bid on priceline.com. I stay at hotels all around the area to visit family and friends and didn't know what to expect at this location. We checked in 15 minutes early for check-in, the rooms weren't ready. Understandable. The front desk was on their walkie for a good 5 minutes until "Ramon" answered unpleasantly. Red flag #1. We should have known from that one phone call, the cleanliness (or lack there of) was going to be a factor. So we just left and headed to downtown Portland to go shopping until our room was ready. When we came back, we got our hotel room and noticed it had two full beds, instead of a king. We just went ahead and called to see if we could request a king bed room. My fiancé called and the front desk said they would get back to us. Didn't happen for a good half hour. Red flag #2. He called again and they said they were still looking into it. Maybe 10 or 15 minutes after, they managed to book a room for us one room down. With our luggage in tow, we get to the new room and noticed it was freezing. I went ahead and turned on the heat. The second that I did, the room smelled like someone pissed on the heater. I. Kid. You. Not. We were sniffing and sniffing to figure out if it really was the heater or if the carpet was just full of dried up piss. Red flag #3. Without complaining about the stench to the front desk folk, we just requested our old room back because we "liked" it better and got it. We thought our worries were over until we noticed the bathroom toiletry of shampoo was less than half full. Great. They reuse their toiletries. I'm all for having a "green" hotel, but really?! Red flag #4. And the BEST thing? The walls to each room are ubber thin. When we headed out to eat some dinner, we were grossed out on what we heard next door. Red flag #5. I assumed since it was the Marriott it would be a nice comfortable stay. Erm. I gussed wrong. I highly encourage you to look elsewhere! read more

This is a review of the banquet service not the hotel itself. Banquet was for 50 to 60 people. We got food for 40 because half came out cold, or late and burnt. Nowhere near enough salad. No sevice staff, we finally bussed our own tables. No water pitchers on table as agreed to, one lonely small, self serve cooler. Coffee came late, with cups for 15, not 50! No sugar or milk or cream. Dessert never arrived. And to top it off the lobby bar has to be the slowest on record. If you need a room, maybe this place is ok. If you need an event space, stay away!!!! read more
