I reserved a room for me and my daughter traveling for a track meet. The room was supposed to have a sofa bed. When I checked in it was only a king bed without a sofa bed but they said too bad!!!! They also just told me that I might not get a refund but to call tomorrow to speak with a manager because nobody working could help me. WORST EXPERIENCE EVER. Update - Just received a kind phone call from front desk saying that the manager will indeed give me a full refund. So that's good at least. read more

This was by far the most unenjoyable stay we have had at a Marriott hotel. Room was not ready at check in time, had to wait an additional 30 minutes with a tired six year old in the lobby. Pool was closed due to a mechanical problem (see disappointed six year old). The room had missing pieces of baseboards, there was a hole in the wall, and the AC unit ran so loud. The big kicker though was when I went to shower in the evening there was no hot water. My husband Went downstairs to try to inquire about this and purchase bottles of water but there was no one working at the front desk. Will never stay here again. read more

The room is fine. The employee was kind and running all over the place while trying to answer calls. . The place feels rundown. There was only 1 staff member. I couldn't find anyone in the evening. The pool is run down. The spa looks broken, as it does not have much water. Half of the lights work in the area. The bathroom is scary. There is rust all over the doors/poles in the pool area. The tile is cracked and dingy. I was not sure if it was truly open, even though it showed to be. This is the most unpleasantly unique experience at a Marriott to date. read more

Very disappointed with Marriott regarding this property. This is the first time I ever cancelled my reservation and switched hotels. Dirty, worn out, hot tub and pool not working, bed mattress caved in on one side.... I asked to switch rooms and they refused even though they have more available. I checked out and went to the Hilton next door. The Hilton is beautiful in comparison...and less money. Skip Marriott and go to the Hilton. read more

Went with a baseball team/parents/coaches and could not have been better. Great location with lots of restaurants within walking distance. Staff is amazing. Everyone is happy and helpful. Lots of room to spread out in the lobby. Breakfast had excellent options. Very clean. Easy drive to OKC. Highly recommend this hotel if you are staying in Norman. Yelpers.... This is a tough review-- conflicted between good customer service and a property in really rough condition. -- see pics. Check in on 4th of July afternoon- went into suite, looked decent until I walked into the bedroom-- then, horror show. Ceiling covered in water stains from previous leaks of God knows what--- fire detector was covered in a plastic bag. Went down to front desk and spoke to Jackie, she was very apologetic said no more suites were available. She said she would get maintenance to come up and remove the plastic, they removed while we were out of room. Jackie offered to comp the room- when I showed up later, evening front desk had no idea about it and would have to talk to his manager. Room still reeked of smoke- spray must have disguised it when we walked in. I will definitely be reaching out to Marriott about experience here, not sure if they will do anything- but again, pictures speak a thousand words. This all being said Jackie and Kimberly at the front desk stepped up- they followed thru on their offer to comp the room, which was much appreciated. We enjoyed the pool and workout area-- the restaurant wasn't open due to it being the July 4th holiday. I think there may be better rooms in this property-- but they really need to not sell that suite until they get a deep clean, painting, and or remediation of the leaks on the ceiling. read more

The outside of this hotel does not live up to Marriott standards. There are dead plants and old cigarette butts. The courtyard area could be very nice with a rock fireplace but there are only cigarette butts in it. The concrete walkways and entry also need to be cleaned. The interior is very nice. It appears to have been recently remodeled. The bar area and lobby are nice. The room is spacious and decorated well. The beds and pillows are comfortable. There is a Cracker Barrel and Mexican restaurant just across the road so that is convenient to walk to. The young man that checked us in was very friendly. With some landscape work this place will be very nice. read more

Clean rooms, friendly staff. What more can you ask for from a hotel on your road trip? The room was definitely updated recently, which is always nice to see those touches. There's a pretty courtyard behind the main seating area in the lobby. Very quiet location for the hotel, but still close enough to the freeway for easy access. We stayed in a king bed room, and the king sized bed did not disappoint! Plenty of room for two plus toddler(s). There's also a pull out couch if you'd rather have your child or traveling partner sleep there. Starbucks and food choices available for purchase in the lobby. Will stay at again on our next trek through town. read more

A bit of a dump, but very nice staff and at least it's pretty clean. Was there for 5 days and housekeeping never attended to my room. Front desk blamed it on me having a "Do Not Disturb" tag on the door handle. Not true - I never put the tag on the door knob. Got food poisoning from pizza ordered in hotel lobby snack bar. We just checked into this hotel and it's terrible. It stinks so bad. The bathroom is very dirty and has bugs in it. Will add photos as soon as I can. The sheets were not even made. I don't think they cleaned this room. We drove from Dallas Texas and I travel very frequently- this has been the worse experience and worse Marriott hotel I've stayed. Very disappointing. read more

Use caution and keep an eye on credit card bill: Rooms were not cleaned throughout 4 night stay, to include no towel refresh and hotel overcharged credit card by an additional $1000.00 under a different portfolio. When questioning sales agent, she argued the charge did not come from their hotel. Upon providing proof from credit card company and notification that a charge dispute was filed, agent requested I cancel dispute and they would resolve on a local level and assured an immediate credit otherwise it would take much longer to receive credit from dispute claim. Refused to drop claim, credit received from credit card company was same day. read more

Check in was fast and courteous. However the room is just disgusting. Look at my pictures to see what I mean. Big greasy marks on the headboard. Smudged up windows with other peoples filthy handprints. The market area/ was out of stock of just about everything I would not stay here again. read more

The food was delicious and the staff was very friendly, the young black lady that brought my order was so sweet to my grandkids, she made all of us feel like we were people and not just a paycheck. She didn't rush us and made sure we had everything we needed. We will most definitely be going back to the Bistro and hope to see the same young lady there again. We were less than thrilled with our Courtyard by Marriott experience in Norman. We arrived at around 5 PM. One would think there would be someone at the front desk, but there was no one. My husband waited in the hot car while I went in and waited...and waited...until someone finally came to check us in. I asked for a luggage cart, but there were none available...which told me that the place didn't have enough luggage carts. The person "helping" me didn't offer ANY help with our heavy baggage, so we lugged it through the lobby and to the elevators ourselves. We asked for dinner reservations and were given some good suggestions. We appreciated this. The room was comfortable and well-appointed. I got up early in the morning and went to the workout room. There was no one at the front desk, again. I tried to buy a bottle of water and waited and waited and waited for someone to help me, to no avail, so I just left the water there. The hallways were deserted and scary. I was happy that the door locked behind me. The fitness equipment was nice, but it wasn't very user-friendly. If I hadn't already had experience on that kind of treadmill, I wouldn't have understood how to use it. The TV was on obnoxiously loud and there was no option to turn it down nor to change the channels. As I was working out, I looked up and a man was standing at the door staring at me. This frightened me. When he saw me look up, he left, but the hallways were still very deserted and I was afraid when I walked back alone. When I got to the lobby...guess what? There was no one at the desk!!! Only one person was in the lobby. I think he was the bartender, but I'm not sure. He was sitting at a table facing the bar and did not say a word. He did not offer any kind of assistance when it was clear that I was looking for someone at the desk. I have stayed in Marriott hotels all over the world and I think this was the worst one. They are usually so on top of things and treat their guests like royalty. I felt like we were brushed aside in Norman, and treated as an inconvenience. I mean, we weren't' even important enough for the guy to offer any assistance beyond simply checking us in. I run an international retreat business and am continually checking out hotels that I can recommend to my clients. I will NEVER recommend the Marriott Courtyard in Norman, Oklahoma. The exterior plants were dry and shabby looking, and clearly in need of water. The bar area had dirty tables while the person behind the bar chatted it up with a co-worker. These types of things are what I remember when evaluating a place for client recommendations. The lack of a desk clerk was just ridiculous. I'd never experienced anything like that ever in a Marriott hotel and I won't judge the entire chain by this one experience...but I do just the Norman location. There is NO excuse for that, especially after the price we paid! read more

Loved the huge room since we got the biggest one they had. Very comfortable and the people working there were very nice! Ate our dinner in their bistro and it was quite good! The room did have some cosmetic things that really needed to be fixed like cracks in the ceiling and by the air conditioner in the bedroom. Almost looked like it would fall out, HA. Then the next morning when hubby was in the shower he is yelling that there is no shampoo in the containers on the wall. oops so I call down to the desk, housekeeping does not come in for another two hours and she can not leave the desk so I threw on some clothes and headed down to the lobby where the gal found me some small bottles she did not know she had so thankfully now we can take showers. But still we loved the big comfy room!! read more

This Marriott is in a great location- it's next to tons of restaurants and shopping. The staff was very friendly and the hotel was very clean. I think it has been updated recently. It's the newer Marriott colors. We were recognized for being Platinum Elite (which is nice to be thanked for Brand Loyalty). If you are traveling with someone with sensory issues, the only complaint about that would be the fan and light are not independent so you can't turn on the bathroom light without the fan running. This might be difficult for those traveling with children with sensory issues. The air-conditioner was quiet and did not interfere with noise ambiance. read more

I highly recommend you do not stay at this hotel as their housekeeping practices are awful. I contracted contact dermatitis on my face while staying in February. I ended having to go to Urgent care where I was prescribed Sterioids and other medications. It took weeks for my skin to get back to normal. To add insult to injury, Marriott refuses to acknowledge their issue. Others I know who stayed at the Courtyard shared that their bathroom was dirty. Fair warning: choose another hotel! read more

Absolutely appalling experience. I originally booked my reservation on Booking.com for the Fairfield Inn only to be told they were under renovation (something that wasn't disclosed online anywhere). No big deal, miscommunication. I was told that my reservation would be transferred to Courtyard instead. I go to check in at 3pm. No offers to help with luggage, or even the use of a luggage cart. We get into our room to find none of the electronics (phone and tv) were operational. We head to the lobby to address this. Sarah, the front desk attendant, was the worst desk clerk at a hotel that I have ever had the displeasure of interacting with. We were told, "Oh. The maintenance guy will check on that." An hour or so later, the maintenance worker informs us that, indeed, none of the electronics work. He is unable to get them working. We go back to the front desk for a resolution, such as a room change, to be met with apathy and annoyance. Our room was eventually changed at our insistence, but I cannot believe we were forced to fight for basic hotel accommodations. Horrible customer service and overall experience. Go stay at Motel 6, get an Airbnb, or literally seek any other option for spending the night other than this hotel. I will be placing a corporate complaint. read more

Beautiful hotel, rooms were very clean. My air conditioner worked a bit too well. It was set at 60 when we arrived and I had to put it up to 68 before I wasn't freezing. The cleaning ladies were very friendly. If you push 1r on the elevator it will open doors to laundry room which is interesting. Only 2 complaints. The bistro isn't always open and the drinks at the little shop were lacking. There was not any non caffeine options but the gal did go find some for me. The other issue was that the non-slip in the bathtub was worn away and my almost 2 yr daughter slipped and busted her lip. Overall though, nice stay, comfy beds too. read more

Hotel itself situated nearby a few good restaurants, small shopping mall, and other services for folks on the road. Room was clean, but nothing special. Not sure if this location offers upgrades or not, but I've never received one as an 80+ night Rewards Platinum member. On-site gym is exactly what you'd expect, small and cramped for more than 2 people, very little equipment. In-room amenities...not much to mention, new-ish couch and TV (which are locked down and require help from maintenance to switch inputs), again what I've come to expect. Horrendous Internet service, it would work for a few mins and then die. Again, what I've come to expect at Marriott properties as a whole. Overall, a less than average experience here, might be better off at some nearby places. read more

There aren't many decent hotel options if you want to be in Norman so it can get tricky. If you don't mind the 20-30 minute drive to okc there are better options up there. read more

I lived in this hotel for over 5 months straight, no joke. I was in Norman for work and this is where I was so very lucky to stay! I was supposed to only be in the hotel for 3 months but, honestly, I kid you not, I was so impressed with the staff at the hotel, I asked my company if I could relocate to Norman. Everyone was SO friendly and welcoming, they all felt like family. Now I am a Norman resident and I still hang out with the friends I met at the Courtyard. If you want to get away and relax, but still be treated like family, I highly suggest you stay at the Courtyard by Marriott, Norman. read more

After staying at this Marriott for 12 years while traveling, had a really disappointing stay. It was my place to go in Norman but will be an Embassy Suites guy from here on out. I was having trouble with my television getting really dark. Not just toned down as an energy saving mechanism, but so dark I might as well be just listening to the sound. The General Manager of the property told me there was nothing she could do as it was an energy saving measure. Honestly, felt like she was just a little lazy and blew me off to get rid of me. But if it is an energy saving measure, the television is so dark you might as well not even have t.v.! Why not, Marriott, just allow the customer to control how dark they want a t.v.? A pretty expensive room to not have a functioning t.v. Hope this serves as a warning for those of you who actually enjoy a movie or sporting event on television in your hotel room. I am a Marriott Gold Rewards member and not coming back. read more

This place is a decent hotel located in the tiny town of Norman. The service is friendly and they actually have a decent but expensive breakfast with a select option of Starbucks coffee made to order. It seems like Courtyard tries hard to make this hotel look and feel modern. However, the loud ass air conditioners in each room reminds you that you're only in a 3 star hotel and nothing more. read more

Always professional and friendly! We stay at the Courtyard on Copperfield every time we're in Norman. We've also rented their Pride room for showers and other family parties over the last two years. The ENTIRE staff always goes out of their way to accommodate us. From the initial booking with Alex to the front desk clerks to Allen and Clarence in maintenance all the way to the end of the event, we couldn't ask for better service. The hotel and conference rooms are always clean and comfortable. We appreciate all of them for taking care of us, and going above and beyond with their kindness. Actually, I think this is my best Courtyard by Marriott yet. I love the location, there's a Cracker Barrel out front. So, food in walking distance. And, the best pizza I have ever had from Pizza Shuttle, local to Norman. The staff was wonderful, and my check in was a bit difficult the manager called on her cell to straighten it out. I just stayed in this hotel, and I would not stay here again. There was never anyone at the front desk, and there was no bell, so you always had to call out to the back office to get help. The beds are hard, the sink is too tall (why should an average height woman have to lean into the counter to brush her teeth?), and the one chair in the room, while it looked adorable, was clearly not made for humans to sit in (it was round). They may have cookies when you check in, but they don't even have coffee in the lobby - you have to either buy coffee or use the little machines in the room, for which they give you one paper cup per person. Breakfast is not included - we had it one day and it was OK, but I would certainly not have paid the price they charged for it (the receipt said about $10/person) and it came with one small, non-refillable cup of coffee. :( We were so unimpressed that we elected to go elsewhere the second day even after we were given another voucher for the second day. The hot tub wasn't working while we were there. I told them, and they thought that the maintenance guy had fixed it (it was very cold). (This is when we got the breakfast vouchers.) We'd had a long day of walking and we were really were looking forward to the hot tub. :( It still wasn't working the second day, and they said he had been there and said "it would work or it wouldn't". (Huh?) We then got to our room to discover that housekeeping hadn't been by (we were out of the room from 8:30 a.m. - 8:00 p.m.) and had to call down to get towels, coffee, shampoo, etc. We didn't really receive an apology, just "would you like me to bring those to your room?". (Umm, yeah.) I've stayed in many hotels, and issues like this are usually handled better. The same young woman was there when we checked out the next morning, and she didn't even mention the issues we'd had. Usually when you check out, they ask you if you had a nice stay, if everything was OK, etc. - I would have thought she might have offered a brief apology for the lack of housekeeping and the broken hot tub, since she knew about all of it. It was really weird. I will definitely stay elsewhere the next time I am either in or driving through Norman. read more
