I've been traveling for over 30 years and this is one of the top 5 worst places I've ever stayed in my life. The room had a stench about it. The floor was coming up. The walls were not completely painted and the toilet paper rack was broken. You could also see the sway in the beds before you even got in them. Highly recommend you sleep in your car rather than stay in this dump. I would be ashamed to rent this place to anybody.

The B&B consists of two suites. I'm in the Federal Suite which includes a bedroom/bath, parlour, dining room, and a kitchen. It's almost bigger than my apartment! In addition to all the comforts of home (plus a homemade breakfast made to order), the B&B comes with Jeanette, a self-described "Innkeeper/Grandma." Jeanette is an incredibly sweet woman who loves her B&B and makes her customers feel very much at home. She even called me after the first day of the bar exam to see how I was doing! This place is great! I don't know if I'll ever come back to Jeff City, but if I do, I'll stay here.

Closed in the 80's it was brought back to life by the State and now serves as meeting facilities and office space. My parents both served in WWII in the South Pacific. My mom was an Army Nurse and Dad a Sargent. They knew each other as kids in St. Louis and met again in the Philippines. After returning from the war, they married in South City and drove on honeymoon to the Elms outside of Kansas City. Due to old 2 lane roads, they only made it to Jefferson City the first night and stayed at the Governor. Today when I attend meetings at the Governor, I think back to what it was like in the 1940s. The art deco lobby, staircase handrails and 2nd floor ballroom provide just enough insight that this place was lots of fun. Filled with lots of history, the State did a great job keeping this place alive and repurposing it to a new use.

The hotel feels new, rooms are big, clean, and very comfortable. I booked a standard king room with breakfast for three nights. The room was spotless and housekeeping did a decent job of maintaining it. On the first morning we got à la carte breakfast and the sunny side up eggs were perfect -- some of the best I've had!!! I even went and thanked the lady at the kitchen because those were honestly some of the best eggs I ever had. I wish I had got her name, but a big shout out to the kitchen team working on the morning of 20th June. The next two days the breakfast was more of a regular buffet style which was good as well, but nothing compared to that first day. The elevators were down during my stay, which was inconvenient but manageable, and staff kept everyone informed. I personally love climbing stairs so there was nothing to complain! :) Overall, it's affordable, close to everything, and even the restaurant and bar are wonderful. Overall I highly recommend it and it is a great place to stay!

Desk has lots of outlets for what you need. Center nightstand has two regular outlets. Room is quiet, in spite of very busy road outside. Hallway has been quiet (so far). This is pretty good overall. AM UPDATE: Darn. Breakfast is in the attached pub. So looks like breakfast NOT included. Suboptimal. Next issue -- the shower. Water doesn't drain well out of the tub. Great way to acquire foot fungus. Has good water pressure, though. You could wash long hair. Temp is also good. Becomes nicely warm. Will downgrade rating by one star for both of the above.

After about 30 minutes, the manager came to my room and told me I had to leave because Booking.com hadn't processed my payment yet. I left. The payment the processed soon after that, of course. I asked the hotel manager for a refund the next day since I had been kicked out even though I prepaid. He wouldn't refund my money. I got the feeling this was not the first time he had pulled this. I believe this was a scam. *Note: I do not know exactly when the payment went through. I took his word for it when he said Booking.com had not processed it, but payment was complete when I checked after I was kicked out and found a different hotel. I called him again the following day, and he said it was Booking.com's problem, not his. I would avoid this place if possible.

Breakfast wasn't extensive but was laid out well to give the appearance of it and you weren't stepping over other guests to get to the food. There were plenty of tables to sit and eat at. The parking lot was well lit, with plenty of spaces. Watch for the random geese wandering around it though. We could only find a single elevator to take you to the multiple stories of the hotel so it was frequently fully occupied. We also had to wait about ten minutes to check in at five in the afternoon on a Saturday because the front desk clerk was nowhere to be found. Overall it was a restful nights sleep.
