Terrible customer service. I called to check when I could check in and was told my reservation was cancelled (I did not cancel). The clerk who answered relished telling me this. Insanely rude. I was really excited to stay at this hotel because of the photos I saw online and near the areas I'll be working however, after staying here for three nights I was very underwhelmed. Check-in staff was extremely rude. The walls are paper thin. The hotel needs some serious cleaning and updates, the carpets have stains throughout and smells like an old Las Vegas hotel - full of smoke smell. The worst of it was ordering from the on site restaurant. I ordered the $15 burger, and after taking three bites, the frozen patty was still cold. I could not eat anymore. The Jacuzzi is also closed for some unknown reason. On site water bubbler was not in service the entire time I was there, so they expect to you to use tapwater for the coffee machines provided in each room. How can you not provide fresh water for your guests? They also don't clean your room daily and blame it on Covid. I travel all over the nation and why in Iowa of all places, do they not clean your room and attribute it to Covid? To top it off, I'm in elite member with a Marriott already staying over 40 nights this year in their properties and am transitioning to Hilton as we speak because I continue to be unimpressed by their properties and lack of decent customer experience. read more

My cousin had her hotel room block at the Courtyard in Ankeny for her wedding a couple of weekends ago. My family and I stayed here three nights and overall, had a pleasant stay! My fiancee and I stayed in a room with a king bed. It must've been our particular room (because my brother visited and said their room was laid out differently), but it felt very cramped with a large sofa, desk, and closet super close together. That being said, the bed was still comfy and we made do with the space we were given. The room also came with a mini fridge, coffee machine, and regular amenities you'd expect from the Courtyard. There's a lot of space in the lobby to hang out, get work done, meet with people, etc. The coffee bar has Starbucks products and starting at 5:00 pm serves alcohol. If you want a beer or something beforehand, you can grab it in the market, as well. We did room service breakfast one day except it was a little odd they didn't actually deliver to your room and you had to go down and get it. Yeah, figured that one out about 45 minutes after we called down and were wondering where in the world our food was! All in all, it fit the bill for our quick stay. I'm not sure I'll need another hotel in Ankeny but wouldn't hesitate to come back here. read more

Room was great - larger than most Courtyards I've stayed at plus included a refrigerator and microwave. They also had a much larger than usual assortment of snacks/drinks available for purchase at the front desk. My sister had her wedding reception here and both her and the momzilla of the bride were very pleased with the entire planning process and the outcome! read more

This review will only be for the conference rooms and lobby. This is a great place for conferences. My company has been going here for a couple of years, and it had been a great experience. There is one super, huge conference room that can be divided up into (4) smaller conferences rooms with the use of folding partition walls. The small rooms have an occupancy limit of (88) people but ~(50) is s good number. The rooms are clean and have very tall ceiling ~20ft. The staff is very helpful. They setup the rooms how we request them such as lunch tables or presentation tables. They are also very quick to respond to any problems that may arise. As we were setting up for our latest conference, we noticed that the image from the projector was shaking. All of the rooms have their own built-in projectors that are suspended from the ceiling. Apparently, this room just got a new projector that weighed more than the last one. So when the AC kicked on, it created a slight vibration in the image. The staff was quick to find a temporary solution. They turned off one of the units in the room and turned the other unit down (each room has (2) thermostats). The temporary solution worked; the image stopped shaking, and the room was still comfortable. The manager did say that he was going to have their site maintenance guy add some braces to prevent any future vibrations. In addition to the conferences rooms, the restrooms on the first floor were very clean. The food that was served for the conference was very good for conference room food. It was lasagna that was made in-house by their chef. Lastly, there is a huge market place next to the hotel's front desk that sells food, drinks, beer, wine, miscellaneous toiletries, and more!! It is the best stocked hotel store I have ever seen. Overall, a great hotel for conferences. read more

It may be a part of a big hotel chain, but I didn't feel that way at all while staying there. The staff was very friendly - my last name was spelled wrong on the reservation, but they searched and searched until they found it. They even offered to put us up in another hotel room since this one was booked. BUT, after finding the reservation, we stayed in a king-size room that was beautiful. The bed faced a big picture window and every other part of the room was designed to not look like an ordinary hotel room. Plus, for the service and room we got, the rate was relatively cheap. If you're looking for a place in Ankeny, be sure to check this one out. read more

One of the nicer Courtyard properties that I've stayed at. Despite a small flood at one end of the building due to a broken pipe, the hotel was very nice. The only downside - the breakfast buffet left alot to be desired. When freshly made the scrambled eggs were probably pretty good but once they'd been sitting in the chafer for awhile, not so much. Breakfast was included in our room rate, if I'd had to pay the $9.95 directly, I probably would have passed. read more

We are on our third night here and wish we were home. I'm laying next to my two little girls covered in chemical burns from a hot tub that hasn't been maintained properly in a room that we found a used, dirty mask on our floor and was shocked to realize our children were eating chips they found in the cupboard from the last occupant. We had to ask housekeeping to get the pubic hair out of the tub, shower walls and bathroom floor. We will never stay at a Marriott hotel again. read more

Rooms are clean and the decor is modern. We booked a king sized bed with a pull out sofa bed room. The king size bed was comfortable, however the way the room is situated when you pull out the side bed you can't walk around the king size bed. I guess we could have moved the sofa, but no sheets were in the room for us to even make the sofa bed so we didn't bother. Maybe they thought all 3 of us were going to share the bed. Thankfully my son is small and fit on the sofa the way it was. I'm glad we brought a sleeping bag for him. The bathroom was nice. No tub just a shower. The hotel was pretty quite. We only saw 2 other couples our entire stay. Nice bar and lounge downstairs. Free WiFi and you can upgrade for faster speeds. Nice mini fridge in the room as well. read more

For 150$ a night I expect a lot more. The bed comforter was about as thick as a pillow case. We had to call to get an extra blanket which ended up being about as soft at 80 grit sand paper. And seriously no continental breakfast! There was not even complementary coffee! They have some sort of counter that looks like a Starbucks where you can order food. What a way to gouge your customers after the 150$. Steer clear of this hotel there are like 7 hotels around this area that offer better value. read more

The service in this hotel was not good, they all seemed put out when you asked for something. We were there for a wedding reception, and they acted as though we were annoying them. The room was o.k., but had a terrible smell to it. I wouldn't choose to stay here again or recommend it to anyone. read more

Mixed feelings on this hotel. I know this chain is geared towards business travelers, but it felt a little too pretentious. The gentleman in the 3 piece suit at the front desk the night I arrived didn't even tell me where the elevator was located or if there was a luggage cart available, as I struggled with multiple bags. I put the Do Not Disturb sign out the first morning, as I was staying for weeks and didn't want daily service. Housekeeping still came in and cleaned. They changed out all the towels, even though they were hanging on the bar which is supposed to indicate you want to reuse, and only left 1 washcloth. Towels were thin as were the blankets on the bed. Breakfast was overpriced, but the serving staff were great. Julie at the desk was friendly and approachable. Signage was hard to find for pool, laundry, etc. as all signs are flat against a wall the same color. No overhead signs. read more
