Dr Watson saved our dogs life not once, but twice. We found him out of a desperate search for an alternative to a second surgery that the emergency vets said were our only option. We were tapped out after multi-tousand dollar suergy to remove a blockage from a toy our boy ate. Dr Watson offered another treatment option and we took a chance. 2 days later our boy was home and doing great! Round 2, another blockage. I called at 8 am and they squeezed him in at 11. 2 feet of intestines had to be removed. Dr Watson and his team stayed untill almost midnight to save Josey Wales life, again. We live in North Carolina, over a hour away, and wouldn't consider taking him anywhere else. God bless you and your team, and thank you, thank you, thank you. read more

Our new puppy, Luca, had a wonderful visit with Dr. Rene Forcier. She was warm, compassionate and very professional. We felt very comfortable and she was patient with all my questions. Sophia, the vet tech, was also kind and warm. She was professional and knowledgeable. Check in and check out was smooth and easy and the two receptionists were great! read more

Had to put my sweet girl down today, everyone was exceptionally kind and handled everything in a professional but compassionate way, I was a total blubbering mess, and they made me feel as I was not alone, thank you. read more

Previously took my two cats to Courthouse Veterinary for annual immunizations and check-ups. I was given an estimate for dental work for one of my cats, which was just under $1000.00. I called and asked for additional information and was told by the vet that when she touched my cats teeth/gums, my cat moved away. No x-rays etc... I was curious how a person sticking their finger in a cats mouth could justify a $1000. dental estimate and I held off on have my cat's teeth extracted. Clearly, I'm not a vet but monitored my cats habits when eating etc....and never noticed her being apprehensive when eating treats and she didn't back away when I inspected her teeth. Glad I did because, I took my cat to another vet and advised of the previous estimate I received. The Vet examined my cat's teeth/gums and told me, her teeth and gums look pretty good/no problems. Looks like I saved myself $1000.00 and more importantly saved my cat from a lot of pain & discomfort. You may want to get a second opinion when Courthouse Vets tries to unnecessarily pump you for $1000.00! As mentioned, I'm not a Vet but, I have 20 years law enforcement experience and have spent the last 23 years working as a fraud investigator....So....yeah. read more

Best in the area. I drive over 30 minutes to bring my dogs here. Dr Watson is absolutely amazing and has a great team that work with him. I have never felt my dogs were better taken care of anywhere else. read more

We have been extremely happy with Dr Watson and his entire staff. They have been fantastic recently with our two older dogs. Our 10 year old suddenly became ill, and Dr Watson was terrific. He provided treatment options while listening to our concerns. He made several personal phone calls to check on our dog, and was very patient answering our questions. We will definitely continue to use him. We started with the previous vets, when another local vet raised their prices significantly. We were concerned when they left, but Dr Watson has been a great replacement. And his prices are reasonable! The staff treats the animals as they would their own pets. read more

I had an emergency with one of my little dogs being attacked. Called my go to vet. They were too busy to see my fur baby. Called Courthouse and they saw her immediately and fixed her up, took excellent care of her and was happy to help save my pup. I will always take my fur babies to courthouse vets. My normal vet showed their true colors when I had an emergency. I have spent a lot of money there and always referred my family and friends there. I'm sorry I did. Now I feel worried that they don't need those folks in an emergency. Dr Watson and Dr Thomas at Courthouse Vets are true caring docs, took my pup back right away and fixed her. Thank you again Courthouse. read more

Courthouse vet was recommended by another vet for a serious condition for our dog. When we visited Dr Brian Watson he instilled a sense of confidence and showed that he was very caring and transparent. He even took us in the back room to see the ultrasound .He told us what the procedure entailed and told us the success rate. He stayed well after closing hours to perform the emergency surgery. Everything went very well. Our dog was home the next morning and her prognosis appears excellent. His fee was very reasonable. He is the best vet we have ever dealt with and we have been going to vets for 25 years in Virginia Beach. read more

little fuzees with their well care visits. Importantly, they are also there when our pets suddenly fall ill and need immediate medical assistance. Dr. Watson and staff are very kind and caring. Today, we were tasked with seeking their assistance for our 17 year old puppy, to help him cross over due to his declining health. Fortunately, we were able to get an appointment last moment. We were kindly taken in and able to say goodbye to our little JoJo with a loving and caring staff. Utmost consideration and medical attention was provided to us when it was needed the most, we are grateful. Thank you. read more

I had a very terrible experience with my two dogs and two children today trying to get my dogs nails trimmed. This shocked me because I have always loved and praised courthouse vet and all of their staff. Today I was met with patronizing comments, horrible customer service and just a flat out sad display of leadership by the doctor involved. I had seen the doctor sixteen months prior where he had informed me if he gave my pup a one year vaccination ( I didn't have my proof of record, completely my fault) that it could be turned into a three year as long as I brought back paper work showing proof of prior shots. I did this sixteen months later... today. And today I was informed that was incorrect. I had only one month to bring back proof so this record could be change. Ok! That's that and I was misinformed. More so. I had called three times since my previous appointment sixteen months ago and checked on this fact and asked about prices and brought up my issue about having the records change. Every employee I spoke to acknowledge my situation and agreed, quoting me a price for nail trims and only one vaccination because I had records that would change the other. I was asked to show up 15 mins early. I did so. I was asked to bring my records. I did so. I feel like I did my homework, got price quotes, showed up on time and brought my records. I took cash to pay for our services because we had been quoted a price twice before. When we got there and after waiting over 30 mins they told me I'd have to pay for a second shot which I did not bring money for. I told the nurse I'd leave now with my two already cranky kids and annoyed dogs if they couldn't do them both. She shrugged my comment off and said she'd be right back. Another 15 mins later and we are being asked into an exam room. Something I did not want. I would have gotten a babysitter if I knew it would have been this involved. They took my first dog and said they would cut her nails and I ended up waiting another ten mins. When they brought my pup back after cutting her nails they then went into that they wouldn't be changing the record or helping me out with my problem of not having the correct amount of cash. An amount I brought only because they had told me to. The doctor patronizing pointed out over and over again that I waited sixteen months to come back. I look at him holding my six month old infant and say, "yes I am sorry I have been busy". After going back and forth just trying to get him to cut my dogs nails for the price they had told me over the phone two times, the doctor looked at me very rudely and said well I'm going to say goodbye and you got a free nail cut out of this! And leaves the room basically suggesting that I never come back. His nurse who was holding my dog looked horrified and confused and embarrassed about what the doctor just did. She put my dog down and walked out with out saying a word to me. I stand there holding my baby with my two year old crying at my feet and I could do nothing else but cry. I did not yell at him I didn't curse I was just trying to figure out a way to get my services like his employees had offered them to me. In short ( and this wasn't short at all) he gave me a free nail trim and lost a loyal customer. When he could have gave me a free nail trim, collected my money for the other services, and kept a customer and gained hundreds of other customers. I have always recommended courthouse vet but I never will again. I'm not looking for free stuff he could have offered to bill me!!!! I was already giving him 70$ and only asking to be billed 16$. My husband has been deployed for seven months and has yet to meet our six month old daughter that was born while he was away. He comes home this Sunday and this week has been stressful and full of things that "need" to get done before daddy gets home. This was the straw that broke my back today. Being walked out on and patronized. Being judged for not taking my dogs to the vet in sixteen months when I just had a child and I'm situationally a single parent. I felt like I had done everything right, made an appointment, called multiple times to have the correct amount of funds and paper work, showed up early. I did my part and I tried to remain civil. Be kind and thoughtful you never know what that person is going threw. read more

Worst Vet experience ever. Took my dog in for the yearly check-up. She is a Boston Terrier and is getting more ornery as she gets older. But the vet knows this. She was pre-medicated before hand. We warned the lady about her and she went ahead and tried to shove medicine in her mouth and my dog snapped at her. The vet played it off as it was no big deal. But here is where it gets good. After we leave, the vet had to go to the clinic for her bite and our dog was reported. So it went from not a big deal to our dog having to be quarantined for 30 days. I call and ask what happened and she decides to tell me all this and how my dog was in danger of children (she is around kids all day long even a newborn). She also told me that I was quoted as saying when I came back I told my wife that she tried to bite me. MY DOG HAS NEVER TRIED TO BITE ME. EVEN WHEN I SHOVED THE MEDICINE DOWN HER THROAT. On top of it, the vet told us it's probably best that we part ways. You think? Totally. Not only did they not have the courtesy to let me know, they also don't want any business except with pets who are perfect angels. read more

Dr. Patrick Brett was awesome. My pet has an inoperable tumor on his spleen. He recommended against getting immunizations because my pet and the tumor seem to be existing together well- since it has been over a year since it was diagnosed (at another vet). He could have taken my money but he did what was best for my dog. read more

I'd give 10 Stars if I could! This is, BY FAR, the absolute best Veterinary Clinic we have ever been to. Dr. Watson is amazing...his knowledge, skill, and ability to perform complex surgeries is second to none. It's just something that I've never seen any other vet do! We drive about 30 mins and pass by numerous clinics to bring our dog there. Thank you so much, Courthouse Veterinary Clinic, for caring as much as we do for our dog!!! read more

I love this clinic! My dog needed an emergency cystotomy and my vet was booked and couldn't do it for 4 weeks. I didn't want to wait that long with her in pain so I searched Yelp reviews and called every high rated Vet in Virginia Beach. After calling Courthouse Vet Clinic they set me up with a consult with Dr. Watson 2 days after I called and he did her surgery 2 days after the consult. A total of a 4 day wait with a vet that has never seen my dog. I was extremely thankful! He is wonderful with explaining the entire procedure and post surgery care. The staff were all so loving and friendly, I received constant updates on my baby during and after her surgery. He kept the stones he removed to show me and they were huge! My poor baby was in so much pain and my vet that has seen her for 9 years was booked and couldn't fit her in! SMH (Banfield). The cost was great compared to what my vet quoted me, I would recommend this Vet to everyone!!! read more

Wonderful husband/ wife vet team! they have been practicing 25 years. Wow! Great prices too...at least a 1/3 less than the other vets in the area. Prices are reasonable and the care is great! The vets are very realistic too. LOVE them. You will not be disappointed. read more

It's a small office and they seem to do a good job of getting everyone in and out in a timely manner. My dog is a huge wimp when it comes to strangers and strange dogs and in my handful of visits we have never had to sit around in the waiting room for more than a couple of minutes or share it with a bunch of other nervous pets awaiting their fate. The prices on things like nail clipping are also extremely affordable compared to other vets. I'm very happy to have found them! read more

We're changing vets today. The first visit was nice, or maybe I should say the young ladies that work at the front desk were nice. The next visit, I took our dogs by myself and the male Dr. was demeaning and kept repeating himself about questions I wasn't even asking about our dog who had a nail condition. I left there clearly upset, and they made no attempt to rectify the situation. Our blue healer had a seizure and we brought him to the emergency vet the evening it occurred, then went to Courthouse the following day. After reviewing his blood work, we were told he was fine and he was having seizures because he wasn't neutered and that we should schedule the appointment to do that right then. They were asking 440 dollars. A month later we had him neutered at the SPCA's office, because they were almost $200 cheaper than our Vet's office. 2 months later he had another seizure- apparently it wasn't because he wasn't neutered after all- huh Dr.? read more

Dr. Patrick Brett refused to see my dying dog, because I did not have the total cost upfront. I have been a client for over 8 years. The dog had seizures all night and vomited bile. The next dayVa Bch Hospice vet came out and euthanized him at HOME. The first question was not Can you Pay today?. Dr Brett was inhumane and heartless. Do Not USE!!! read more

Excellent service by excellent people. Dr's. Pat and Layne Brett are a husband/wife team with combined experience of almost 50 years. They always do what's best for my dog and my bank account. They firmly believe in helping animals and people, which is uncommon in today's world of maximizing profits. If no treatment is necessary that's what you will get. It's nice to be able to rely on these skilled professionals who have devoted their lives to this medicine, and not go to some corporate scam like petsmart for care of my beloved pet. read more

This is a Vet Clinic that is FILLED with staff who really care about your dog. My senior dog Finnegan was brought in for some tests this week. He ended up needing emergency surgery after they found that he had tumors on his spleen, one of which had ruptured and was causing internal bleeding. The staff members were beyond gentle and sweet with our dog, and Dr. Watson was completely transparent about the diagnosis and the procedure. They answered every one of my million questions thoroughly, and were both comforting and reassuring (even though I was a complete and blubbering wreck). You can tell that the staff members are real "animal people" who treated my dog like their own, right down to the technician who fed Finn by hand to make sure that he ate his whole breakfast the morning after his surgery. And thanks to Dr. Watsons quick action, our dog is now home from surgery and recovering well. I really can't express how grateful I am to all of the team members at this clinic for being so compassionate during such a stressful week. read more

We have been blessed to have the Brett's as our family pets veterinarians for over a decade. They have treated our cats and dogs from babies to the geriatric stage. Whether it was basic vaccines, or more complicated issues requiring surgery they offered outstanding care. What I like most is their honesty. Sometimes they will tell you what you don't want to hear, but you honestly need to know. That has to be hard at times. On the same note, they will let you know whether you really need that vaccine, or if the surgery is absolutely the best choice for your older dog. They are in the business for all the right reasons. The best part is you get both of their expertise as a husband wife team and their prices are reasonable. We could not be happier! read more

We took our dog to Blue Pearl because we thought he may have eaten something. BP charged us $450 to walk in and get X-Rays, and quoted $3-5k for surgical removal of the object. That doesn't include ANY other care (fluids, pain meds, overnight stay). So in a bit of a panic, we found Courthouse Veterinary Clinic who promised to do the same- for a reasonable price. Dr. Watson DID do the surgery and went above and beyond what I expected for post-surgical care...Including round-the-clock monitoring and frequent calls to update us on how our dog was doing. He and his staff have been friendly and professional every time we've talked, and my dog is doing great. Dr. Watson also kept his word on being reasonable for the total cost.(Approximately HALF of the cost of Blue Pearl's surgical quote). I think that this smaller operation is proving that paying more money for care does not give you BETTER care. Thanks to everyone at Courthouse Vet...We will recommend you to all of our friends. read more
