Mia’s Dream Come True Playground - Redwood lookout

Mia’s Dream Come True Playground

This is hands-down the coolest playground in the East Bay I've been to thus far. While in the area…read morefor a family BBQ, we heard about this spot from parent friends and decided it was finally time to check it out. Wow! I was honestly blown away. We brought lunch to have at the park and honestly, not much was eaten because there was just so much to do! What a toddler dreamland. There's a solitary airplane by the swings, a 'firetruck' to enter/exit, a boat to drive, slides of all kinds..a whale to climb that blows water steam out of its blowhole! I mean..the creativity! There's a quiet area that has books and chairs to read to the littles, like a "take one/leave one" small library. A section dedicated to music where littles can create sounds from a piano by using their feet to step on the keys. A bike park next-door. A pirate ship..I mean, the list goes on and on! In short, this playground is inclusive to all. The magic, wonder, uniqueness, and just imaginative play that is captured by adults and kids alike is really awesome for somewhere in the East Bay. We already can't wait to come back again. Street parking adjacent to playground can be found. This is a popular spot, so plan accordingly.

Such a sweet playground! I enjoy all the accessibility intended to allow children of all abilities…read moreto play. The lounge chairs for parents near the more exciting features are also very cool. My son plays basketball at the nearby recreation center and we walked over to the park after his session- not realizing it was Mia's Dream Come True until halfway through play. This park is epic - from the Braille to the musical/sound features, awesome fire truck and the spouting whale! We could spend hours here (or at least an hour because Mama's got a schedule). For now we'll be back most weekends after basketball practice. I'd recommend this park to all parents of small children.

Super cute park for a birthday party!…read more Very well maintained, The fresh cut grass and bright colored play structures just pull you right in. It has a toddler playground which is enclosed and a larger one for the older kids. They have a grass area to the side which I am sure can be used to play ball. It is great for a picnic or birthday party, it has 6 picnic tables which are positioned behind the play area and give great shade. It also has BBQ grills for cooking. This is just one of many beautiful parks I have found in Union City.

Came here during a week day and to be expected, it was empty and not a soul was to be found, which…read moreI didn't mind one bit. The park is very large and plenty of grassy field area to run around prolly in. There is also a basketball hoop court, which is great for those who play! Plenty of benches around and trees for shade. The play structure area, is large as well, but some parts I noticed weren't that safe, there were no baby/infant swings and no bathrooms! The park is located in a really nice neighborhood and could only imagine how busy it could get on the weekends or really nice spring or summer days. Parking here is pretty good during the week, as most people are at work but during the weekend it might be a little tricky. The park is clean and looks to be up kept. The park is located next to a sewer of some sort because occasionally there were nasty odors. Would I come back? Perhaps. But not my favorite park. I've seen better!

Unsure why not many people frequent this park? I went on a leisurely hike around the lake on a…read moreSunday morning. There's two main parking lots, one is free so you'd have to come early and the other larger one is paid like $5 a vehicle. The walk around the lake is extremely easy and pleasant, and there's not many people to dodge at all which is nice. It's also pet friendly so bring your fido, except there is a lot of geese droppings around so just be careful not to step on those or have you fido eat something it shouldnt lol The lake trails have a balanced mix of sun and shade and it doesn't get too hot. I can't speak for the actual lake itself as I did not get close to the waters. When I came back from finishing the hike, it was around 1pm and I noticed the parking lots were essentially empty with the exception of a few cars. Why? It's such a nice open park with lots of bbq pits and places to sit and hang out! More people should come and hang out!

Not only did I save money by avoiding parking fees, but there were so many adorable goats along the creek on the other side of the ISA lot, seemingly hundreds. Apparently, they are brought in periodically for wildfire prevention as they eat the dry grass. It was a lovely surprise. The Quarry Lakes recreation area offers multiple restrooms, picnic tables and park benches galore, plenty of grass with grazing geese, ducks swimming in the water, squirrels scampering around, fishing docks and pier, and wide gravel trails bordering the lakes which was perfect for my run this past Sunday. There were hardly any visitors while I was there so I was able to enjoy the scenic views and serene environment with minimal distractions.
