I do appreciate a shop that says "no, you don't need that done, but, you do need this done". I received first rate service from Dave, and a reasonable bill at the end of it. I have rented a travel trailer from Courtenay Car Centre for three years in a row and never for…read moremore than 4 nights. All three times I have pulled the trailer myself and stayed at the same campsite (no hookups). They were by far the cheapest in the Comox Valley. My first experience was rather pleasant, although, their booking system appeared rather archaic and the trailers were significantly older than others in the valley. The 2nd year we had problems with the battery provided with the trailer but the generator we brought kept us going for the trip. Additionally, we accidentally left a few items in the trailer which were "not found by the cleaning staff"; lesson learned. The third trip was a boondoggle! We made our booking in March for the last week of July and were to take the trailer from Monday to Friday. We were told at the time of booking that the Centre was not open on Monday, however, something could be figured out between now and the rental date. The week prior to the reservation we stopped in at the Centre to discuss how we would be picking up the trailer and we were told that, likely, there would be someone in on Monday as there was a few trailers going out that day. We were told to call back on the Saturday prior to the reservation to confirm. Eventually this was confirmed, however, the Saturday involved a few phone-tag calls and being put on hold for 15 minutes after which we were told the man we needed to talk to had gone for lunch (while we were on hold). Picking up the trailer the Monday went quite smooth. At pick-up we were asked if we wanted a 2nd battery for the trailer. We explained where were going and were asked if we had a generator. As we did we were told by the Centre's staff that we would be fine. We were not. The battery provided by the Centre did not last 24 hours of what we would consider minimal use. No lights, pumps, or fans were left on and the fridge was set to propane. The battery died after the first night so we charged (1000W generator) for 2 hours in the morning and brought the battery to 2/3 full per the indicator. That night the battery died and the propane alarm went off. Following this we charged the battery for 4 hours and again the battery indicator showed full. Once again, in the early hours of the morning the battery died causing the fridge to stop working. At this point we decided to cut our vacation short and the trailer was returned by the end of the business day prior to its scheduled return. At the end of all this we relayed our story to the Centre staff and were told that we should have taken a 2nd battery. While staff did admit to saying we would be fine they noted that they always send people at with a 2nd battery if they will be dry camping. Apparently not. Frustrated, we left. Following this the Courtenay Car Centre billed us the full amount for the trip which included a previously undiscussed charge of $30 for "Monday Pickups". When we brought this to the attention of the staff they indicated that it was a fee they had in place to cover the costs of someone coming in on their days off. Although no mention had been made of this charge previously, they still charged it. Overall, the last rental has convinced us that we should be looking elsewhere for our travel trailer rental needs.

I have family in Courtenay so I visit on a frequent basis and stay for long periods of time. I have…read morebeen using Westview Ford's services for over 10 years. When I got a simple oil change or tire rotation, they were OK. Whenever I have had a specific problem that required diagnosing what was wrong, they have been a disappointment. For example, I went back twice to fix an electrical problem and each time they told me it hadn't been sorted out when it hadn't been fixed at all. I then took my truck to an independent garage and they found the problem within an hour. Over the years I got the impression that the kind of service I got depended on the specific mechanic who was looking at my vehicle. My advice is that if you have a problem that is covered by a warranty, or you need something quite simple, they're ok. For a serious problem or something that requires some investigation, there are 2 or 3 good independent garages in the Comox Valley where you'd be better off taking your vehicle. Quite disappointing given their size and resources.

I had to get my 04 F350 towed in to Westview Ford, as it's unsafe to drive. It shuts off randomly…read morewhile driving, in traffic, intersections, etc. After a $2200 bill my truck issues were supposed to be fixed. (I paid extra to assure they were not guessing and that they had 100% confirmation that they found the issue.) They were wrong. It died again, less then a week later after bringing it home. Another tow truck bill back to the shop, plus a cab to bring my family back home after getting stranded. They told me yet again that they found the issue with 100% certainty, another $90 bill. It's not fixed, It died again. So now they want me to pay for a 3rd tow truck, another bill, For what? Another attempt at guessing what the issue could be? They now claim that the issue isn't related to the original (Even though it's doing the exact same thing as before. Shuts off while driving.) I paid for an inspection from the "professionals" to look at the truck, and to find out exactly why my truck is acting so unsafe. They failed to do so. They are just guessing at the problem, hoping to get lucky, instead of actually finding out the problem. This is the truck I daily drive for work, and use for my family... with my kids, my newborn baby.. This is a very serious unsafe problem that they have claimed that they have fixed twice now... I no longer trust, that Westview Ford has the ability to fix my truck, nor the understanding of the vehicles they are working on. As well as I believe that they do not care that they are playing around with the safety of my family. Also the lady I was passed to instead of the manger, who is away, made a rude comment about my truck being older and so this issue is expected. Older trucks are more common to have issues yes, but not the same issue that I paid to have fixed that makes no sense. The issue is that I paid $2200 with the understanding that my trucks unsafe problem would be resolved. But thanks for that rude comment. Apparently everyone who has an older truck has an unsafe vehicle? I don't think so.. Now I'm a very understanding person. That's why I went back a second time to get my original issue resolved. Why I paid for the second tow etc... 3 times on the same issues? I honestly feel like I got scammed. Without this truck I'm stuck, I rely on this truck. At this time I'd stay far away from Westview Ford, they clearly have no idea what they are doing. Nor do they care when they are playing around with someone else's money and family. *Random side note, the ladies at the front service desk are amazing and I appreciate the hard work they put in for me for my issues. They were kind, respectful and helpful through this whole issue. This review in no way reflects them.*
