I took my vehicle to Valley Collision for repairs on September 15th and I was told that the work would require 3 to 4 days.
A section of my insurance coverage included a rental vehicle, which I took possession of on September 15th.
On September 26 I phoned Valley Collision to ask when the repairs would be completed and was told Oct 4 or 5.
I was finally called on October 10th to tell me that the repairs were complete and I could go and get my vehicle, which I did on October 11th also returning the rental vehicle at that time.
A couple of days later I received a call from the car rental company asking for $500 some odd dollars for the extended portion of the rental term which they said was not covered by my insurance.
Making a long story short, my insurance covered for only $500 for a rental vehicle in the event of a crash, of which I was unaware (my fault).
Neither the Insurance company, Valley Collision , nor the car rental company would offer any recourse for me, and I am stuck with paying an extra $500 with which I was blindsided. Nobody informed me that my rental term was running out. I was given no warnings, but because Valley Collision took 23 days instead of 3 or 4, I am left with a huge rental vehicle bill. I think I just fell through the cracks and nobody will take responsibility for my loss.
In future if it happens again, I'll make sure to go to a collision repair facility that offers a free courtesy vehicle! read more
