They serve a small but good selection of real ales and have an extensive menu, including fresh fish. We had the lamb and the halloumi burgers: both were good the first time, but in the second the halloumi had been breaded and deep fried and was soggy rather than crispy. So a bit uneven (the lamb burger was £1 more expensive second time as well). Prices are comparable to London: the burgers, with a pint of beer and a coke were £35. Service was friendly although several times we had to wait at the bar, which was unstaffed. Overall, we had heard good reports, but our experience was slightly disappointing.

No dreadful contrived and boring Homes & Garden mags that nobody reads to be seen, thank god. Has a nice quirky, rural down-to-earth feel, and clearly the people who run it are proud of its history. The restaurant looked perfect, very old, one of the best I have seen. They give you for £2 a haunted tour booklet which was great, and the booklet was very enjoyable and funny in parts. Haven't tried the food, but who cares, I would eat here anyway. I will go here for a Sunday Lunch one day and it would be a nice place to stop at around Christmas time too and walk round Pluckley's footpaths afterwards. To get it completely Uber Perfick and a 5 star rating from me, they need to stock Kent Crisps (which are very tasty) and lower the music a bit as it wasn't always easy to hear my friend. Menu is varied - I had buffalo wings (with blue cheese dip) and mixed grill. Staff were very friendly and happy (Kira served me) I will come back here in future and if the food stays this tasty then I will be recommending to my fellow business travellers - keep up the good work :-)
