Likely a hedge fund is owner of the company and only interested in rate of return, not spending $ to fix. So let me give you opinions to counter low ratings. If wash results unexpected then speak to manager on duty. Request ability to rewash. They will do. Intent is to have you happy and come back. Need to let them know. Even when brushes not working (it is a mechanical system getting gallons of water thrown on it), it is still a better wash than anything in area. They have made getting discounts harder. Corp decision. A bad decision, and not fault of local staff. Call UT HQ to register opinion. It is stupid, but griping to staff or posting here does nothing. When new wash opens in Damascus do not assume better. Time will tell. But competition may make hedge fund owners in UT more attentive to these reviews of comments provided by customers. I have been a current member with unlimited washes since not long after they opened, after a…read moreproblem with the 1st wash I had as a non-member and damage to my truck by the location. The then manager was very interested in obtaining my membership and offered me a discounted monthly rate. Unfortunately, the 2026 verification process is removing my discount, even after my membership was contingent on the discount after the incident where the exit door did not raise and banged up the front of my brand new truck. I only signed up because of the then manager wanting my business and offering me the discount. Additionally, the Shiny Shell in Mt Airy, MD has declined in the quality of washes - the brushes do not get all sides of my truck any longer, the back no longer ever gets washed and since the beginning of 2026, the wash has begun shooting black grease on vehicles causing further damage. The staff there knows about the black grease and even said it to me before I even had a chance to tell them when I returned to let them know. I should not have to wipe off anything but water from my truck from a car wash .. if it's running properly. I feel I have been very patient and supportive of our local business; but unfortunately, Shiny Shell customer service doesn't care and made it clear they do not want my business any longer. They clearly are not honorable to honor the agreement in place as the basis of my membership. Additionally, there will be a brand new car wash, just like Shiny Shell, later this calendar year in the neighboring town .. you'd think Shiny Shell wouldn't want to run away their current customers, right? The Mt Airy location car wash hasn't been running properly for some time now. Then, Add that to the end of my discount ... yeah, shame on Shiny Shell and their lack of honor.
