Penrod Kennels - Happy dogs!

Penrod Kennels

Penrod Kennels is truly exceptional!…read more Recently, I came to Walla Walla to assist my elderly mother with a major surgery. Unfortunately, just before I left, my dog and house sitter backed out. My dog Milo has stayed at a few doggy daycares and kennels here in Portland and they were okay. But not knowing long I would be gone, and that there was a chance that he could stay with me part of the time, I wasn't sure that I wanted to commit to an extended stay anywhere. I went online and reviewed 3 different Kennels in the Walla Walla valley. Of those, Penrod Kennels appeared to be the best choice. They had the highest reviews, best rates, some great photos, an informative and a detailed website that also included a tutorial video about the kennels and their self-service option. You can also tailor your dog's experience by adding 1-on-1 time, play dates, and/or pool time which were all very affordable. I was impressed! We swapped a few texts and my vet faxed a copy of Milo's vaccinations before I showed up a few days later for a tour. Troy greeted me when I arrived and he gave me the tour of their amazing facility. He's a great guy; easy-going, conscientious, knowledgeable and just plain fun to talk with. And after seeing the pool and the cascading waterfall, I wanted to stay there myself. The facility was very well maintained and clean. It didn't have the odor that other kennels and daycare facilities have. By the time I left, I knew I had made the right choice. My mother's medical issues became a little complicated, so I asked a couple of times if Milo could stay on a while longer. Each time, they were extraordinarily easy-going and accommodating which was a tremendous help to me. In the end, he ended up staying there the entire 2 weeks. And although I was feeling a little guilty about leaving him for that long, his reaction when I picked him up told me that he was just fine. Great in fact. He didn't race to greet me and then instantly pull towards my car like usual. Instead, he just bounced back forth between me, Troy and Katy, like he didn't really care if he was going home yet. I often go to Walla Walla to visit family and friends. And although I live 4 hours away in Portland, I will most likely continue to bring Milo with me to stay at Penrod Kennels.

I'd give more stars if I could! The owner of Pendleton Pupcakes (Leslie) is absolutely amazing. I…read moreworked for her for a brief time and I continue to be a client. I don't trust anyone else with my pets. The facility was always immaculate, messes cleaned up immediately and the animals are loved and treated with respect, and kindness. I am blown away by Leslie's abilities, her love for what she does which is truly an art and I always looked forward to working for her. She also has great relationships with customers, many who have been her clients for years. When my husband was laid off and I struggled to budget my poodle's grooming needs, she stepped in and worked with me. I can't express how grateful I am and I am pleased that she is such an important asset in Pendleton.

Dropped her off at 2pm per appt. At 4:30 they called to say she needed to be shaved close or else brushing her hair would take time and extra fee. Since it's February I didn't want her to have no coat. At 6:00 pm she was ready to go -- for $95.00. Worst grooming I've experienced in 15 years. And leaving her in a cage for a couple hours while they worked her into their schedule is cruel punishment for a rescue dog. The only reason they can charge that amount is because they're the only groomer in Pendleton with any availability. Never again.
