I spotted this place during a bike ride on a Sunday afternoon, and I was pleasantly surprised. There is an order counter with a nice covered porch that has a seating area. I ordered a stuffed quahog and some clam cakes. They were having a problem with their POS tablet and I didn't have cash. The owner was willing to give me the meal for free, which was CRAZY generous (I woulda stopped by the next time I was in the area anyways) but thankfully they got it working eventually. The stuffie was a solid, whaler style stuffie. No complaints there. The clam cakes were cooked perfectly, hot and crispy, and had a lot of clam pieces in them. They were on the dense side, which I prefer. I'm definitely planning more bike rides out to acushnet so I can eat here again! read more

Our first time here today and everything was great and affordable! My daughter loved her burger and fries. My husband enjoyed his steak and cheese. I really liked the bacon and tomato grilled cheese. We shared the loaded fries and the cheese and bacon ratio was perfect. Our little man enjoyed his hot dog. The food is good quality and super affordable. We ended our dinner with ice cream. I have to say this might be the best ice cream we have ever tasted! No complaints at all. The staff was so friendly and attentive. I love that it's a family ran restaurant. It was great that they had indoor seating, especially with today being a chilly overcast day. It is a little tight inside but they do have quite a few tables and high chairs and boosters are available which is a huge plus in my book! I usually go to this ice cream shop because they are the only one I know that has Richardson's brand ice cream (which has the best purple cow.) This is unfortunate because I hate giving business to such rude and unappreciative humans. The owner and her daughter have the rudest personalities. They are snappy, condescending and just truly miserable. If you want better quality ice cream I suggest acushnet creamery down the street. We ended up at Country Whip Ice Cream to try the Impossible Burger and it was adorable! Cute little restaurant with a walk-up area as well as a small dining room where you can get waitress service on a lovely road packed with farms. Parking is tight but we lucked out and got a spot just as another car was leaving. My husband and I both ordered the Impossible Burger ($9/each) with different toppings and I was surprised to see standard toppings got individual surcharges. Seems a penny-pinching when the burger costs so much more than their regular burger. I had sweet potato fries as a side and my husband got clam chowder, both of which were excellent. Wanted to try the Pumpkin Oreo ice cream but they ran out. Only negatives were the flies (everywhere, including the dining room) and the strange debit system that charges you in increments of $5 and adds on an ATM fee. However, there's no actual ATM on premises so you pay a surcharge but you can't even get any extra money to take with you when you go. Hope they change that up in the future. read more

Not having tried the food at Country Whip in quite some time we decided to try it tonight, the good: Clam were extremely good, shrimp good as well. Now the bad and I mean bad! growing up in the South Coast and Nantucket I feel I know fish pretty well, when I picked up my order (that was well over $60 for 3 people) I could smell the fish from the window, driving home it was concerning, once home after just one bite my fear was confirmed, the fish was bad. I love Country Whip, and it is definitely the best ice cream place in the area! My favorite flavor here is PB Oreo, by far the best PB Oreo I've ever had!! I don't know who designed their covid entrance plan but they need to look at it again. It's a disaster. 1) with the parking lot to the left, they tell people they have to line up to the right. No signs, no nothing but some lame stickers on the ground. The normal line forms to the left and they come out to let people know what it's supposed to be. How about changing it to something more normal? 2) with the line forming to the right, customers need to walk behind parked cars. Kids could get hit easily. Not a thought out process. What they should do is let the line form along the side of the building on the parking lot side. And exit through the front stairs. Much safer, keeps people out of the hot sun, and is safer from the cars parked out front. Plus, put signs facing the parking lot indicating where the line starts. First I would like to congratulate you on reopening after the fire. This was my first time at country whip and I was not satisfied at all. There were 3 parties in front of us and we were in line for fifteen minutes. I realize you are opening and its new but maybe could have been a great idea to train a little bit more while fixing the shop. As my fiancée and myself were standing in line we were observing the owner take orders and communicate with customers. You my friend are extremely rude towards your customers and almost wanted to leave. I ordered a vanilla frappe and my fiancée ordered soft serve in a cone. We found it was weird that my frappe which tasted like and had the consistency of vanilla whole milk came out first. While my fiancée was eating her ice cream her cone broke apart in half and turned into mush. This means it was stale and I'm guessing it was there pre fire or you don't do a good job sealing them. I just think cones don't go stale since you opened last Friday. I might give Country whip another shot but I think that is highly unlikely. There are other ways to waste my hard earned money. read more

Let's first start and say that I am from California. I do not expect ice cream shops in the middle of the back-roads. I am not used to going to non-shopping center ice cream shops. I am not used to anything except Cold Stone, Baskin Robbins, and Haggen Daaz. Country Whip is pretty refreshing compared to these types of joints. First off, everything is a lot cheaper than these chain stores. For about $3, you get a "Medium" which is at least 3 scoops on a standard cone. You get to choose between at least 20 flavors and you can also purchase a great deal many "junk food" items like ham and cheese sandwiches (which I did not try.) They offer a Chocolate or Rainbow Jimmy (sprinkle) dip and their staff is usually young high school or college students that are very friendly. There was a big line on a Sunday afternoon in the middle of September so they must be doing something right and seating is both indoors and outdoors. The ice cream itself isn't spectacular and the toppings are not spectacular but the experience is all quite nice and the value is good. I would end a nice bike ride with Country Whip! read more

A couple of years ago, this gorgeous little place suffered a fire. The owner cane into Lowe's where I worked st the time in hardware and helped him with new locks. Being new to the area I had never heard of country whip. The owner invited me down for an ice cream, so that spring we stopped in..now, I need to add, you can bring your dog if you're sitting in the covered outside area and they have pup cups, vanilla ice cream with a doggie bone on top. Fast forward, the food is delicious, prices are excellent, and one of the best clam chowders I've ever had. All their food is consistently amazing, from seafood to sandwiches and everything in between! Located in a beautiful area, this place is great to stop at after a day fishing or on the beach. I have been going to "The Whip" since high school. Never had a bad time here. Made memories.. ate lots of ice cream. I've brought friends here from out of state to experience our favorite home town ice cream spot. I moved away and hadn't been in years. I recently was home and went for lunch here and was absolutely taken back at how rude the owner was. I can not believe someone with such a lack of respect owns this place. I drove 45 minutes to get here and when I finally got here 20 minutes before 9 all of the windows were already shut and I was given an attitude and told they were closing in a couple of minutes. My boyfriend got a burger earlier in the day and the girl who took his order gave him the same, "What do you want?" attitude. If his food had been remarkable maybe the poor service could have been overlooked. This place is very close to the Rochester line..... so no matter what direction your coming from.... its pretty much out in the country. They have meals also that you can order and take out. They have picnic tables, some with umbrellas on them. They are set apart at a good distance for covid compliance. I got a soft ice cream cone (small) $3.75 and they only take cash. The price is a bit on the pricey side but they do give a generous amount of ice cream for the "small" size. It had a richer chocolate taste than other ice cream places in the area. A kind of terrible location is the middle of nowhere-otherwise known as Acushnet's countryside-Country Whip was just kind of dull. There were surprisingly a lot of douchey teeny-boppers there too. They were the really annoying kind that like to sit there and stare right at people with their mouths open. Really, really terrifying. I got a small Frozen Pudding in a bowl, and got some weird flavor with, even to this day, unidentified "fruit" floating around above vanilla. And at that, there's only chocolate and vanilla pudding. Why the hell was there fruit inside a "pudding" mixture? I think they were thinking of yogurt. Even the peanut butter-batter ice cream felt a little eh. It was kind of artificial tasting. The woman who was behind the counter wasn't a major prize either. But whatever. The prices were okay, but I dont think I'd go back. read more
