Hands down, the best golf course in Northeastern Indiana…read more Greens are SUPER FAST. Glass-like fast. Rest of course is taken care of with obvious care. Beautiful setting, with some old farms in the horizon. Water hazards have been well thought out, and definitely nice to view...as long as you stay out of them. Glad that there were not too many houses on the course, and none of them seemed to be 'right on top of you.' We played there on Saturday, and honestly, the place kicked my butt. There are holes that you definitely have to play several times to get the feel for them, but I am not sure I will ever get the feel for those greens. They are so fast that even the slightest undulations make large breaks. I do credit this course with my 2nd best score ever, because 3 days later I played at more of a 'regular course' for non-pros, and fired a true 77. Thank you Glendarin for sharpening up my game! Did I mention the greens are really fast?

Maybe drives and people are the same...the harder you try, the worse the shot ends up. (Tee boxes and fairways are great here. Tee boxes were aerated recently, but plugs were all gone. Center cut of fairways is narrow in places, but that makes it fun!) Playing from the tips, I can score in the 80's here, but scoring a long term friendship with people I care about seems to evade me. (Low scores at this course are generated by playing smart. With lots of creeks and water your shot selection needs to include several layups and specific yardages to put you in a good position to hit the green.) I can usually read a green better than I can read a person. However, the greens here are tough. You first think it will go left, but then you walk it and maybe it will go right, so you don't give up the cup and run it 4 feet past the hole to the right. (Sometimes you just have to go for it, even if failure is imminent.) A lot of people don't understand golf. A lot of people don't like golf, or those that play. That's ok...I don't understand a lot of people. Love the bridges, scenic views, and an obviously well cared for track.

Heard there are new owners and the course is in good shape so we wanted to try it out again. You couldn't pay me to go back there. The new owners need to shut it down and completely rebuild this course. Standing water on most holes and every bunker, hard pan/mud in the middle of the fairway, holes dead and caving in (tip - maybe cut a new hole every so often). This place charges $45 for a round and they should be embarrassed to even let people out there for free. They also have a massive beetle problem which is likely one of the most annoying pests on a golf course. I hope I can save you a few bucks or point you in the right direction so you don't make the same mistake. Try Glendarin, Bella Vista, Zollner or Coldwater before wasting your time or money on this dump. Lake James golf course owners and grounds crew, you should be ashamed of yourselves.
