We wanted one with a "living edge" This week we requested the mantle be delivered to our job site. But we were told they couldn't find the mantle but that they would deliver an equivilant. The one they delieved appeared to be one made of pine. Upon seeing it, both my wife and I said it was unacceptable and not remotely what we ordered. I returned the mantle to Springfield Reclaimed. The owner insisted that is what we ordered. (Sorry, but we KNOW what we ordered.) He agreed to custom make an oak piece and deliver it by Friday morning. Our contractor was waiting for it Friday morning but it was never delivered. Repeated phone calls to the business were not returned. Finally, that afternoon, someone was sent to the store to pick up what they had promised to deliver. We are pleased with the workmanship of the mantle. But Springfield Reclaimed needs to work on: communication, inventory management and delivery.

Above and beyond problems with Heckaman, I had numerous problems with Shew Design. At 70 years of age, my previous home burned to the ground on April 3, 2020. Later that month, I was told to expect to move into my "turnkey" Heckaman Home in "July or August." I moved in two weeks before Christmas despite many things not being completed. Many of the things I was told verbally didn't happen. There are NEC violations in the breaker box, there was needless damage to my large lot and yard ornaments, ceiling insulation was loose cellulose that wasn't leveled and fell far below general standards for this area. A Pex fitting blew apart the first time I turned on the plumbing. I received a large bill from a sub-contractor that I hadn't contracted with. There was no caulk around plumbing. The list could go on and on.
