It also happens to be quite cheap; I bought a couple of oranges, bananas, apples and leeks for less than £2. The addition of eggs is also welcome, I bought 6 free range eggs for 95p. Really was a great day out. Really recommend. Then stopped at the tea rooms for a drink and some food. Very tasty and still quite reasonable. They also have car boots on a Sunday ( I haven't been to this one but have heard it's quite good ). All the fresh air, the kids slept well. I thought we'd be there maybe 2 hrs? We were there nearly 4 1/2hrs completely lost track of time.

The range of fresh fruit and vegetables from their own fields and greenhouses out the back is substantial, and they also buy things in to increase the availability of products at more tricky times of year. The range of tinned and dried goods is superb with some real delights and obscurities, particularly among the chutneys and relishes. There is also an excellent frozen foods section with everything from apricot danish pastries to mixed summer berries to diced onions (really!), which you buy by the bag, choosing as much or as little as you want. We find the mixed berries particularly good for making smoothies and coulis, and much better value than the supermarket versions of the same. Local, fresh eggs are also to be highly recommended and the cakes and bread are excellent!

So annoying when you order a Baked potato on-line and it turns out to be smaller than the ordinary spud...seems to happen all the time at Sainsburys & Waitrose and shopping in-store at these two doesn't improve. Its odd, but one of the worst things since Covid seems to be the lack of choice of potatoes, when before, you were spoiled for choice...why is that? If you like buying fruit and veg for a price representative of their actual value (e.g. white onions for a mere 8p each or 5 large oranges for £1) then stop by this charming little shop. The guy who runs the place is a funny old bloke who'll gladly cut you a deal if you're a few pence short. All the usual grocery products are available including fresh herbs, veg, fruit and even flowers. Also, all seasonal products are available like pumpkins at Halloween, Norwegian Spruce at Christmas etc. It's basically the friendly independent grocer that every street should have!

These kind of independent green grocers are what every town needs. The guy who runs the place is an eccentric old guy who'll happily engage in any banter whether he's on the same page or not, often cutting you a decent deal for the joy of it all. It stocks all seasonal products like pumpkins and Norwegian spruce. When the new Sainsury's local opens nearby I'm sure business will decrease even further so please keep visiting if you live nearby. It's essential that we keep in business places that don't extort us.
