Since it was early afternoon, our tour guide had talked about options for an afternoon cream tea, scone, clotted cream and jam. After a short walk in town, I opted for having the afternoon tea at The Priory. The restaurant was packed and I waited a few minutes to be seated. Ordered tea, scone, clotted cream and jam. The service was fast, interior was charming and quaint and the scone was delicious. It hit the right spot and I enjoyed unwinding at The Priory for a while before heading out on the tour bus to the next spot. Great experience and a short visit.

There is no drive through here and there is nowhere to park right outside, so it is only a good place to go if you already happen to be in the town centre and are looking for fast food to eat. The quality of the food is much the same as you would expect from any McDonalds anywhere in the world, so nothing to really say there.

I don't know that I've ever had a finer cheese shopping experience elsewhere in the world. We came…read morespecifically for the store (not the cafe), and though it's on the smaller side: there are SO MANY delicious things to look through and buy (I dare you to leave here empty handed). The incredibly knowledgeable, incredibly friendly, incredibly engaging cheesemonger from France basically only had eyes for me (or so it felt; they take care of their customers so well here! I've never felt so spoiled!), and spent quite a bit of time both talking cheese with me and letting me try loads of different samples from locally made sources. I got quite a few options, and he did a spectacular job at giving me just enough of each so that I could have a Wine + Cheese Night For One back at my AirBnB. I also picked up some crackers, olives, and incredibly garlicky hummus. If you love cheese, do yourself a favor and come here. Even if you don't know where to begin except traits you like (funky, creamy, earthy, salt crystaly), they'll know exactly where to steer you, and will probably delight and surprise you along the way!

That is, my order was taken speedily. The server went away to prepare my cup of tea and, on her return, asked me to wait. Another member of staff later bellowed the number on my receipt and presented me with an unappetising-looking 2 piece chicken meal. You could tell it was overcooked, just by looking at it. It proved to be greasy and lacking in flavour plus there was no wet towelette provided to clean my fingers. I collected my own napkins. The tea was bland and tasteless. The whole place lacked any charm. A grim experience.

DISTASTEFUL LYING STAFF Myself and my partner went to bath…read morethis weekend for our anniversary, we decided to go into this bar for a few drinks and a light lunch, all was well until we got accused of giving and taking drugs from a group of girls (who they couldn't control) the maitre'd had a terrible attitude towards the whole situation. She come over to our table, saying "we are going to have to give you your bill and you have to leave" I asked what for and she replied because you are doing drugs at the table. She then followed it up by saying " I see it. the table opposite see it and the whole restaurant see it" I was gob smacked and said what a false statement and complete lie she's just made up! All I was doing was being polite and amicable to the drunk girl, trying to get her away from me and my partner.(which the table opposite clapped and said "fair play guys you handled that drunk girl better then we would have") When I challenged the matrie'd she said she will get the CCTV to prove this is what happened. I waited for another 10 minutes and no one come to the table so I called the manager. I spoke to the manager and said I've just been accused of selling and taking drugs from this girl, please get the CCTV because maitre'd said she will get it to prove we had done such a thing! Conveniently the CCTV wasn't actually working in the area we was sitting in. By now my partner was upset and and panicking, I asked them to call the police to search me if this was what I was being accused of and nothing. The manager didn't have anything to say all he replied with was, I don't think that's what's happened I don't think you gave them anything I think they gave you something. Like this made it any better. The manager was as spineless as his maitre'd the whole company needs to go onto a customer training course and they need to think before they start accusing people of doing crimes on their premises. Absolutely disgusted it runined what was supposed to be a great weekend away. And I will be taking this further then just leaving a review.
