Butterfield's is usually my go-to flower shop in Farmington. I have had some really great customer…read moreservice moments there, like when I needed some last-minute blooms for my sister's bridal shower and someone there brought me into the flower cooler and we put something very special together. However, this last time I called, I did not get what I ordered and I'm rather disappointed. My sister just landed her first real job and I wanted a small arrangement that included peonies, nothing too. difficult. I was told that they did have some peonies in stock, despite it being just after mother's day, and that they could accommodate my request. I paid about $60 for a 10" tall arrangement, which I felt was fair. Turns out, the arrangement she actually received was almost all carnations and not a single peony, worth maybe like $40 maximum. It was clear, after seeing it myself in person, that this was a pre-made floral arrangement and they did not take my request whatsoever. To make matters worse, they spelled my sister's name wrong. I would sort of expect them to double-check something like that if they don't feel like they heard me correctly. Anyway, I still think they normally provide great customer service, but I was just very disappointed this time and hope they can learn from this mistake. I'd also like to encourage the floral designers at Butterfield's to look at some stylish modern arrangements. The one I got looked like it it was cool in 1995. Not in a good way.

The store is so cute! The mix of nostalgic candy, rare finds, antiques, ice cream, coffee, and bulk items can be overwelming, but in a positive way. It is almost like a candy / treat store and a museum all in one. On this trip, I got some coffee sample packets for my husband's Easter basket, a frappe for each of us, and a couple of candies for the household. The shop is bursting with products, so the aisles are a bit tight for passing people stopped to check out the fun products. This is my wife's account but we both feel the same about Jason Street and his substandard care…read more He "overlooked" my wife's DETACHED RETINA" over the course of 5 or 6 months and 3 separate visits. She kept telling him that something was wrong. He never referred her to an ophthalmologist. He asked if she was "depressed" and sold her eye drops but never saw the most serious problem you could have with your eye. I don't think he ever really looked after the first visit. He sold her some crappy glasses for a ridiculous price (that had the wrong prescription and gave her headaches .) Every other doctor we saw said that you can't get an accurate prescription if your eyes are dry (That didn't stop Jason from selling her glasses.). I think he didn't take her seriously because she was a woman. (I wish I'd gone with her). She's had multiple surgeries to try to repair the detached retina that he missed, but she still can't see out of it. On our own, we sought out an ophthalmologist who spotted the detached retina immediately (because he looked) and she was in surgery the next morning. I told him once, before a golf game, that she'd just finished her 7th surgery and I lamented the fact that they would have been unnecessary. He spent the rest of the evening lobbing golf balls over my head. (What a guy) So, be warned that there is a 2 year statute of limitations on optometric malpractice and most lawyers won't take the cases because the standard of care for optometry is so low, Jason sets the low bar for care. (But he does set the high bar for the price of his glasses) It's been a long struggle over the past three year and I attribute the hardship directly to the fact that jason wasn't really looking for the problem, but was more focused on moving high priced glasses. If you want to keep your eyesight find anyone else to go to.
