When you walk in, the first thing you see, is long boxes of back issues. To your right is current issues, trades and Youth Comics. The cool thing is the careful balance of meeting the needs of the the casual and hardcore reader. It's best to do a Monthly Pull List for your favorites. If your not sure, what you'd like, the staff is more than happy to suggest reads and books you may like. I love this place. Despite getting distracted by a dog she recognized (lol!), she was quick to greet us and ask if she could help us find anything. She later noticed me quizzically looking at a book and asked again if she could help me. I voiced what I was thinking at that point (because it was a very specific thought about the Italian author), and she researched the answer for me. I then asked a couple other questions, grabbed some books to purchase, and then chatted for a bit. I love that bookstores like this still exist! She also offers 10% off new books, so that's awesome too. And in the age of Covid, book-themed masks are available to purchase - they're located at the front of the store. You can find a bunch of different genres here, and both new and used titles. It's a small but mighty shop, and I'm so glad to have stumbled into it. Future trips to Staunton will have to include visits to The Book Dragon!

Halcyon Games…read moreoccupies a smaller space but really excels in stocking a large variety of quality video game titles for all kinds of systems. I wound up talking with the owner for about 15 minutes and they were really knowledgeable and friendly, like genuinely excited to talk to you about different games and help you find what you're looking for. They stock everything from Atari up through the latest Nintendo Switch and Playstation games and have a nice selection of complete-in-box games if you are into that. The prices are pretty fair; I would say on-par or sometimes marginally better than what you'll see online. But to me, the real advantage is you can see everything in person and take something home same-day rather than waiting for it to ship from somewhere else! On this trip I picked up some great titles for the Nintendo Wii and n64. Looking forward to coming back once I've gotten through those!

My daughter and I love to read. She is more of a reader than I am. As soon as we walked in we were greeted by a very friendly store worker. My daughter was given a a books a million gift card. The truth is she has had it for a while. There is a series that she is reading called the uglies and she is obsessed. She suggested that we go get it from Books a million since she had the gift card, so off we went. They have comic books and my daughter was so happy when she saw that! It was great to see her face light up. They also had the entire uglies series, as that is what we set out for. I looked around while gave my daughter some space! So much to choose from!!! Did I mention the two ladies were super sweet, helpful and patient. I was trying to let my daughter have her "independence" and pay for everything on her own. This is a gem and we will most likely be back before we leave Motown! Great customer service and a stellar selection!!
