After surgery she went to a nursing home for rehabilitation for about 6 weeks. The care that my grandmother was provided in the nursing home was absolutely horrible!!! I decided to bring my grandmother home however; it would require a lot of assistance. My grandmother was placed in Hospice. Hospice was phenomenal but they only came two times a week. They only stayed about one hour or so. It was not long before I realized that I needed a lot more assistance. I decided to try Visiting Angels. They were a lifesaver I was assigned an excellent care. She truly cared about my grandmother. The caregiver came whenever I needed her. She treated my grandmother as if it was her grandmother. My grandmother passed when she was 101 years old. I am so grateful for Visiting Angels helping to make my grandmother's last days and transition very peaceful and loved.

Her purpose as to stay with my husband so I could go to my doctor's appointment. After the shower caper I didn't feel it was safe to leave her in charge. I contacted my daughter to complain, she took off work to come sit with them both while I was gone. She said she didn't bring gloves so I to provide them! She never laid hands on my husband. She was scheduled for 3 hours. Also, asked for coffee before I left! But I only have decafe and she said she doesn't drink decafe. Pffft! My daughter arrived and the visiting angel left shortly after I did, when I explained to her my daughter was only visiting. I called and reported her behavior and that she was no help at all. My daughter stayed until I returned. I called the office and complained that she was there for 1 hour and 15 minutes. They still charged for 3 hours!!!!! A few months later I called them again because I was headed for surgery and my family could not cover all the day time hours. So 3 hours a day would work to cover the hours. WELL GUESS WHAT????? They sent the same girl! My daughter remembered her and told her to go back to her office. GUESS WHAT?? they still wanted me to pay for that 3 hours that she didn't help us. Done with them.

I have never been so thankful as I have been with Queen City Hospice, aka QCH, and their Head RN…read morePaul Johnson, and Paul's team of amazing caregivers. I have benefited from other hospice organizations for other family members and after experiencing QCH I will ALWAYS choose them from now on!! Here is why... I wanted in-HOME care for my mother who had lung cancer that spread to the brain. She was a smoker of 53 years. In the past, we had used another hospice company with in-FACILITY care for my father who had oral cancer, lost his jaw, and was bleeding consistently from his trachea implant. This in-FACILITY care was good. When we used the same company for in-HOME care for my mother, the care was less than desirable. That was when I realized that Queen City Hospice was a true GEM!!! All elder care IS NOT equal!!! While the other facility had visited our home in the days beforehand, I still did not have the needed equipment or actual physical support. On a surprise Saturday morning, my mother drastically declined, falling while trying to walk. As I was trying to help my mother get up to a safe place and tending to my 2 year old son screaming at my leg, I called the our original hospice in a panic, needing serious help from an aid. I was told that aids do not work on the weekend. I wish I had known this point and understood what that really meant in practice, not just theory. The reality meant- I was totally on my own for the weekends, including the soon emerging emergency on my hands. Luckily, a neighbor recommended Queen City Hospice, I called, and without delay they came to the rescue!! Within hours of a phone call we had transferred hospice centers, we had oxygen, a hospital bed, bedside commode, medicine, a nebulizer, and 24 hour--round-the-clock care so I could rest amongst other benefits. The QCH nurses and staff were AMAZING!!! It was like having family here in a strange city. They were there to listen when I needed to talk, and stayed out of the way when I did not. Everyone was super experienced and knowledgeable. I have never experienced such love, concern, care, and beautiful compassion like I did from Paul and his team. My mother died in my arms 48 hours later. Thankfully the nurse at the bedside prepped me for everything that was happening. I really felt she passed without pain and in peace like she always wanted. For a brief moment, neither one of us felt fear and we were able to focus on our bond, our relationship, all because of the incredible care of Queen City Hospice!

A few days after Christmas, my Mother (who lives alone) was taken to the hospital after a fall. While she was beginning to recover, we found out that my Mother was to be released the day after New Year's. The social worker at the hospital was of no use and so from 500 miles away, I desperately called various care givers, reaching out to nearly a dozen. Of all the providers, George was the only one who not only was ready and willing to provide services (at a good rate), but also was instrumental in helping my family through the process and masterfully securing my Mothers safety and comfort upon her return home. We had 24-hour care for a while and each professional who came to help was as gracious and helpful as the previous provider. My Mother couldn't stop raving about the care, concern and appropriate level of support. We will likely be using Home Helpers as my Mother continues to remain in her home. While it was a harrowing experience for my family, the brightest and most comforting moments were all due to George and the professionals at Home Helpers. Not only do I highly recommend them, I will also be customer when any needs arise.

I'll begin by saying, "I DO NOT do reviews." Seems like a futile endeavor. But in this case, I feel…read morecompelled to share my experience as a cautionary tale. I ordered a CPAP machine as favor to my wife who was fed up with my snoring and to take control of my health. I did a virtual mask fitting and settled on a nasal pillow as its the least invasive option (fewest straps, hoses and cumbersome parts). The rep had me submit a large initial payment leading me to believe this would be the totality of my financial responsibility for the CPAP and mask. My order arrived several weeks later. They sent me the wrong mask--a full nasal mask, which is more akin to Darth Vader's helmet. I called a "sleep expert" to set up my device and swap out the mask for the correct. He told me the model they sent was actually preferred and that my insurance covers two fittings, so I should give it a shot. I tried it for a few nights and hated it. So I decided to return in it. After several calls they connected me with a respiratory therapist who remedied the situation. She was very pleasant and helped me get the nasal pillow I'd wanted all along. The mask worked great. Happy ending, right? Not even close. Three months later when it was time to order replacement parts, they sent a text for an automatic resupply. I accepted. A week later the parts arrived. They were for the original nasal mask they had sent me mistakenly. So, I once again called them to fix this situation and they emailed me a return label. I resealed the bag and shipped it through UPS. A week or so later I received the correct mask replacement. Apria never provided details about how much the resupply costs, so I checked my bank account to look for an Apria charge. Instead, I found several. I call their billing department. After several calls and several hours the billing rep is finally able resolve that I had been charged 3 months of rental payments (it was never explained to me that I was renting the equipment). They had my card on file from the original set up fees and kept it for automatic payment without my consent. The large payment I made upfront only covered the parts and first rental payment. They'd also charged me for the parts they had sent me mistakenly and the replacement parts they sent to me thereafter. No transparency. No communication. Just continuing to charge my credit card at will. They repeatedly denied any fault for their mistakes and refused to refund me for the parts I returned until I shared the UPS tracking number, a email from Apria saying they had received the returned parts and a follow-up call with their warehouse confirming receipt of those returned parts. At which point, the warehouse rep told the billing rep point blank, "We have the parts. The return is noted on his file. Refund him." Since this debacle, I've told Apria customer service on numerous accounts that I want to stop rental payments, buyout the balance of my machine and be done with them forever. They tell me I need to talk to my insurance first who've said I don't need their consent to do so. It's in my opinion that Apria Healthcare has an active policy to deny, subvert, deceive and misdirect in order to continue holding their customers hostage. If you are considering working with them in any capacity, I beg you to rethink your decision.
