It was a prior haircut I'd had, and I noted to her I realize it won't be exact because each hair designer does things a little differently. Well, Maria cut my hair EXACTLY as the picture looked! This is the mark of a very skilled hair designer. The shampoo part was heavenly. The owner is currently in the throes of remodeling, but if she keeps anything, she definitely should keep those shampoo bowls! You feel the comfort as soon as you sit down I believe from their bowls being the perfect height. Many other salons have low-positioned bowls, which are uncomfortable for the patron as well as the hair designer because the designer ends up having to bend down and hurt her back. The comforting shampoo bowls allow you to enjoy the fantastic complimentary head and neck massage. I thoroughly enjoyed LaBella Salon and my experience there today. Maria and I had a nice discussion on hair trends for 2023 as well as color trends. It looks like I will be back sometime soon for a balayage. I just can't decide now how much I want to lift my hair. Looks like the blonde is calling me, but also would like to try a deep chestnut. Hmmm...I guess we'll see.

The salon was clean, welcoming and didn't have the usual smell of dye. I was seated in a chair immediately and Mandi got to work. The salon is in the converted movie theatre building off NorthPoint Blvd, so it has high ceilings and cement walls, but they've decorated it beautifully. The place was packed when I visited on a Friday, but I didn't feel like I was in the middle of the hustle and bustle. Every stylist has plenty of room to work and talk with their client. So glad I found a salon (and more importantly a stylist) I can call mine!! Make a visit, you will not be disappointed.

Five starts again for the beautiful Rachel at Plum Fancy Hair Studio!!…read more After getting my hair colored and trimmed last time (and hoping that would bring the life back to my hair) I realized that my hair was begging for a larger reboot. The ends were dry and super thirsty. I had been growing my hair out for a while and when you're growing out old hair color this can happen no matter how well you take care of your hair. No matter what product I used my ends were just so unhappy. I saw a post on IG that Rachel had an opening the next day (follow them on IG! It's the best way to see last minute openings!!) so I messaged and grabbed a spot. PURE PANIC SET IN YALL!! Lol. I had been growing my hair out for so long and now I was thinking of cutting off a good amount. It was like watching a scary movie where you're not sure you want to keep sitting there but at the same time you're super excited to be sitting there. Lol. I went through hours of the "should I cancel?" fear. After telling myself over and over it was a good thing I went for my appointment. Once again Rachel's smiling face (it was behind a mask but with some people you can just see the smile radiating) greeted me. I told her my plan and showed her a photo. She was instantly excited and said my idea was going to be gorgeous so I felt so confident pushing forward. After she was done there was so much dead hair on the floor I questioned whether or not it needed a eulogy before being swept away. I looked in the mirror and felt beautiful and so positive about what we just did and part of that was because Rachel was really excited about how it turned out. Ladies (and gentlemen) if you can find a stylist who makes you feel absolutely beautiful even when you aren't too sure about yourself....THAT is an amazing stylist. Rachel's positivity for life in general is infectious and her confidence in doing her job well is stellar. I've also sent my husband to see her after he had a not so great first haircut experience here. His hair turned out amazing as well and he was so happy with the result. Rachel is just an overall good egg so if you are looking for a new stylist or just want to support a local newbie then she is your girl! However, I also was very appalled by how openly the owner Jordan spoke of her hatred for the homeless community and proudly totes her gun- I'm all about having your own beliefs and rights but as a business owner I was shocked at how she managed to not read the room whatsoever. Not only was she not ashamed to complain about the houseless/transient community, and brag about her gun use, but she decided to heavily empathize with massive corporations like Nike and Whole Foods because they had to close some locations in California due to looting? (Not sure if this is even true I have not fact checked) this made no sense to me. Jordan also talked and spewed these cold views the entire appointment incessantly I could barely get a word in. She talked over and interrupted me multiple times. That's okay I guess because in hindsight it's not my job to educate Jordan, I just needed a haircut. Cut is uneven and one side of my head is orange. She said she will highlight my roots too and do a shadow root, instead it didn't seem like she did anything for my grown out toes. Would only give one star if it's not for the owner who offered to get my hair redone and recommended me to get it done with Victoria. She recommended a couple different ladies she had previously worked with but both of them fell short of Nikki's protectionism and fabulous nails. I was sad and concerned I'd never find another nail tech as good. Then I messaged the owner of Salons by Jc. I'd forgotten she had a salon with a nail tech. She gave me Jenny's number and I immediately texted her. Because she's the Only nail tech at the salon And apparently because she's good, she stays booked. I was willing to wait. After about a week I went in for a full set. Not only did she only charge me $45 but my nails are stunning. They're absolutely beautiful. They are thin but still very sturdy and when I got home my nails don't hurt. Obviously they shouldn't, but sometimes they do because many nail techs go too close to the cuticle. I was happy she only charged me $45 because I was able to give a decent $15 tip. Still, at $60 it's still less than I'm used to for such good work. Take my word, book with Jenny even though you may have to wait to get in. Tip appropriately! She's worth it!
