This is a really nice park sitting on the outskirts of Westbury-on-Trym next to Canford Cemetary,…read morethough I might be biassed as I used to go here a lot when I was a kid. On entering you first encounter a large field and football pitch (there is also a changing room as the local park team plays here at weekends). Continuing the sporting theme, there's a bowls green (I've not used it but it's surely now only becoming a matter of time) and a couple of concrete tennis courts (which I'm pretty sure you can fairly easily sneak into without paying - but don't tell them I told you). It's also got a pond and a nice little playground for the kids. The highlight here is the helicopter-shaped climbing frame which is perfect for playing A-Team on (at least it was when I was about six).

I used to come here when I was at school as a few of my friends lived in the area, and it was always a good day out. There's a large green space in the centre, with a few ponds that circle the sides of the park. Popular with local residents, you get a mix of school kids, little children who play on the swings and slides over in one section of the park, and elderly people who come here for a stroll. It has an ice cream van situated just outside in the summer, and there's a number of sports facilities, like a tennis courts and bowls green. A really nice little park.

You can bring the family down and enjoy the park area with a giant swimming pool and play area for the children. Or you could play tennis on the number of outdoor courts they have. Or you could do what I like to do; play on the pitch and putt golf course they have. I remember when I first visited the park and I was surprised by the size of it. It is a huge mass of land that holds all sorts of fun. I have to talk about the pitch and putt golf course. When I used to think of the word 'Golf' I thought of men in silly looking trousers walking for miles to find a little white speck on the floor. Then I actually played on the course and it was fun. You don't have to know how to play golf because the courses aren't even that long. All you have to do is pay £3.50 for two clubs and a ball (that price also includes a £1 deposit) and if you're a student it costs a lot less. This was a great way to spend a day rather than sitting indoors playing pretend golf on the Nintendo Wii. If you are stuck what to do for a day then visit Ynysangharad War Memorial Park because all will have a fun day!

There are delightful paths to follow bordered by lovely old trees. Lots of grassy areas, raised flower beds which are well kept and full of spring flowers. There is a play area for children with swings and climbing frames, tennis courts, and plenty of benches where you can sit. You can't escape the sound of traffic in the distance but it's still a great park.

The path's are wide as well so there is plenty of room for a group of runners to be running one way and a couple walking their dog going the other way and still space inbetween for a baby in a pram! The park is almost a perfect dome, if you sit at the top you have a pretty good view of the whole surrounding area. There's a childrens play park and some football goals to cater for all. I'm hoping to make the most of parks like this as the summer time begins to invade Bristol!

There are paths running through the whole park, which is ideal for joggers, runners and cyclists. There is also a basketball court at the bottom of the park, along with slides, swings and other playground type things. There is often some art exhibition going on - a few months back there was a large sculpture made out of metal and looked like a prehistoric anthropod just sitting around the middle of the park, which was a fascinating addition. It is now gone though, but not long before there will some other exhibit appearing I'm sure! The people who live around this park are lucky, as I would love to be so close to a park this lovely.

Only a little bit stuffy and located in a very pretty corner of Bristol. As well as three lawn tennish courts they've got squash courts, a hockey pitch and a gym, so plenty to keep you busy then. It's only members so you'll either have to join (which is quite pricey) or do what I do and find a friend to get you in. The facilities are all very well kept up - the tennis courts look like you could eat off them. There's coaching on offer, which is friendly and from people that know what they're talking about. They've got a room for functions and it's a good place to book for a thoroughly English wedding. Not sure if I'd want the sound of someone playing tennis in the background though. My husband and I went to enquire about tennis court hire and pricing etc. We are amateur tennis players at best, new to the area and looking for a nice, local club to play at and improve our game. She was unnecessarily condescending and rude in her manner, particularly to me it seemed. She clearly had no time for us and was very cold and abrupt during our exchange as a result. We were not made to feel welcome, she was horribly stuck up. it was a very unpleasant experience and we certainly won't be returning. On the whole it seemed rather cliquey and middle class, the kind of place where you get stares if you're a stranger, no thanks.
