It's worth making the trek up Gloucester Road to pay a visit to this second-hand furniture store…read more Despite it's size Another Time Around packs in plenty of old, unwanted or unneeded furniture so that its customers can benefit from cheap prices and do their bit for the plant at the same time. Goodbye Ikea, hello vintage bed frame! I came here looking for a bedside table and while I didn't find what I was looking for on this occasion I would certainly come back to scout for more furniture the next time. The shop also runs a scheme where, for a small fee, when you buy a product from them they will come and remove your old bed/sofa/dinning table - handy for those who don't drive!

Another less well-known gem further up Gloucester Road, Another Time Around boasts an array of…read moresecond-hand furniture. Aptly named, the shop sells good quality tables, chairs, wardrobes, chest of drawers and beds at a reasonable price. Rather than spending lots of money on something lifeless from Ikea, why not pay a decent price for something which has a little more life story to it, and in the excellent knowledge that your piece of furniture is already assembled, meaning you won't have to spend hours reading poorly translated instructions and turning what is meant to look like a sofa into a desk!

This is the kind of vintage emporium in which it's possible to lose whole afternoons as you rummage…read morethrough racks of incredible dresses, shirts and velvet jackets in colours you never thought possible and 1970s patterns that make your eyes go funny, and shelves of incredible aviators, braces, gloves, belts and badges, every item more mesmerising and tempting than the last. And that's before you reach the glorious, plush nook at the back of the shop where dozens of fur coats, leather jackets and bags brush against each other, giving a rustling call for you to drape them over your shoulders. It's hard to leave RePsycho, mainly because it is, actually, quite hard to leave; it's very cramped and stuffed with stock from ceiling to floor, wall to wall, and it can become a bit of a slalom if more than two people are inside. It's also awkward getting out if you're the only person in there and you haven't bought anything. It's the kind of small boutiquey environment that's staffed by people who are intensely passionate about what they're selling, so you can't really slip out empty-handed without offering a slightly grovelling "thank you", wearing your best "I'm sorry" expression as you open the door. Of course, as with any vintage shop, you get the best experience when you're prepared to invest time looking through all the racks and all the shelves and battling through lots of questionable stuff in order to find something gorgeous at a price you're willing to pay. RePsycho is one of those shops that can provide hours of silly fun if you take a friend and play dress-ups (and do your best to stop worrying about the shop assistant hearing you talking about how hideous some of the things are), but it's also good for intensive, solitary shopping when you're on a quest for those perfect Betty Draper-esque white court shoes.

However, RePsycho manages to be kooky, great value and truly a beacon of style rather than just pretentious. It is not for those who like to cruise well-ordered rails and peel pristine items off their hangers, however, as there is something of a jumble sale feel to the mess within. But there are great bargains to be had, from cool Paddington Bear-style bags to amazing 80s garb and just lived-in enough cowboy boots. As usual I never emerge from here looking remotely cool but if you do have an eye for how to put a good outfit together, or a really cool Mod party to go to then this is the must-see haunt for you.

I have never bought anything from here. The owners don't mind...at least i don't think they do- they've never said anything to me! They have a lot of good items in this shop, such as mattresses, bed stands, desks, wardrobes, and chairs...did i mention the chairs? They have the best selection of chairs around! The chairs are probably the best value itesms in the store. Everything else seems quite expensive comapred to similar items at Tescos or Ikea. However, we need to support the independants so i definately would reccommend giving Clearance Centre a visit. The owners leave you free to browse, and the majority of items are second-hand meaning bargains all round! Brilliant!

Besides that, they have other bits and bobs of furniture inside the store. I'm not sure about the quality, but they do have plenty of choice, and with mattresses from £29 (for a single), how could you say no? A price of a top from Topshop could be the price of comfortable sleeping for well, for the duration that you keep the mattress! Another great hardware store on Gloucester Road…read more My girlfriend and I wanted some paint to paint a table we acquired. We popped in as I was sure I'd seen tins of paint last time I went in. Turns out they've got a full Dulux paint mixing machine with a paint chart - sorted! We picked our colours, gave them to matey-boy and then had a mooch while he mixed his magic. The shop is full of nic-nacs from flower bulbs, paint brushes, toilet seats, taps and washing up bowls. if you need it, they've probably got it. There always seems to be a lot of staff. Probably because they get asked lots of silly questions by people like myself, but there was no waiting around. All of the guys were really helpful. One had just come back from his stag do and was covered in fake tan - David Dickinson style - oh how we laughed! Bishopston Hardware is a great shop with great staff. It's so handy that it's at the end of my road!

What I like about it too is that it doesn't just sell its cheaper own brands if you feel like a bit of luxury. Very good location in the centre of Bristol and it's a really large store which divided into two floors. The upper floor is for everyday household products and the lower is a larger section for kitchen, bathroom and bedroom goods. I have recently bought a lovely set of curtains for £7.99 which easily look like they are worth £30...bargin! Usually long queues of upwards of 10minutes though.
