The shop is well stocked and laid out with fresh counted for fish, meat, cheese and cakes. They have an excellent wine section with a specialist roaming around nearby :) As a regular I have come to know the people that work there so it makes the experience all the more enjoyable. The quick pay service and the free newspaper for myWaitrose members is an added bonus. I go shopping on my motorbike so it helps that I can pack my rucksack and saddle bags as I go rather than all at the end of my shop at the checkout. Enjoy :)

Morrisons 'market place' is a unique set out for a supermarket and you can find fresh fruit and veg along side a fish monger and butchers where just like the advert shows you, the staff will be more than happy to talk you through whatever cut of meat you require or even fillet your fish for you. There is also a bakery and rotisserie offering yummy treats such as pork pies and sausage rolls as well as hot roast chickens. Another good point worth mentioning about Morrisons is that they do from time to time do brilliant offers. It's worth looking out for them on the internet or in your local paper.

It is large enough to have a full range of goods that you would expect of Morrisons and is conveniently located for York city centre. Being brand new it is also clean and specious, There is also a large car park with petrol station and car wash available. Petrol & Diesel is usually the cheapest in York as Morrison's always seem to be the first retailer to announce price changes. This store is also on the same site as a large Homebase store and Frankie & Benny's restaurant!

This is the only big supermarket in town that I know of (apart from M&S but they don't sell everything I wanted.) There is no big Asda/Tesco/Morrisons in town though. It's a nice big Sainsburys and they sell everything I would need, lots of frozen food, fresh fruit and veg, tins, bakery, household cleaning, etc. It was busy when I went but they have lots of tills and self scanners so there was no queueing.

There is usually a cafe but this is currently closed. There is a huuuge car park and is part of the Clifton Moor shopping park, so there is a wide variety of other large stores such as Wickes, B&Q, Wilkinsons, Harveys, Pets at Home, and loads more within easy reach.

This particular one is in Clifton and is a useful little shop as it opens quite late (about 11pm) and has a cash machine. They sell a smaller selection of the usual Sainsbury's stock although it is a bit pricey (I always think Sainsbury's is a bit though.) The only thing I don't like about this shop is that it isn't in the best area and there are often people hanging outside in groups which can be a little intimidating.

If, like me, you ever struggle to choose between about three sandwhich options then you may be liable to be frozen in cant-decide panic at the endless choices presented to you by Abu Bakar! They sell a wide selection of vegetables, a broad variety of juices, endless rows of pulses, spices, herbs, cakes, bread, jars of pickled items, huge sacks of rice and flour - possibly aimed at businesses but may be handy if you live in a big house, loads of condiments (including some very mysterious and tantalising items such as a pot of chololate and cherry something...spread?...whose ingredients list was in Polish only). Homeware-wise they have pots, pans, crockery and kitchen utensils. There is also a halal meat counter.
