Costco Wholesale I the UK?!? Of course and they still have good deals on quick bites at the food court. A 1/4 pound all beef hot dog with a 22oz soda with free refills for only £1.50! Good enough to get two! They also have some interesting items not found in the USA Costco version like jacket potatoes (baked potato) with accompaniments of baked beans, cheese, beef chili, coleslaw, tuna and chicken baconnaise, always good whole pizzas, double chicken filet sandwiches, Aberdeen Angus cottage pies, chicken bakes, ice cream, gelato, mango smoothies and some danishes on the counter. Peeked around a bit for any goodies to bring home and was pleased to see they too have samples galore strewn about. Will be back my next visit to Oldham to give the food court a try. read more

Costco,turn to camera,smile and raise a thumb. I've been a member of Costco going on for eight years now,and if you had access to their computer that tells them how much you have spent and on what over the years that you have been a member then you would see that I have not spent one of our English pounds in the eight years. I have also been in the San Francisco branch and not spent one U.S dollar and the Vancouver branch and not spent one Canadian dollar. All of those stores without spending any money,and yet I have a house full of Costco stuff (15 empty Makers Mark bottles,I pod docking station,Ciggies etc etc etc.. The reason of course is that Mrs Zombi is seemingly addicted to the place. They do have a shockingly good choice of wares,although admittedly it usually comes in catering sized portions,which is fine if you wanted a ten gallon drum of ketchup,and lets face it,who doesn't?? For me though the only reason for going often is the cafe. The pepperoni pizza is possibly the nicest pizza that I have ever eaten outside of a propper pizzeria,and the chicken bake and smoothies are a joy to eat and drink. All that and free refils of Coke/Sprite,something more of our establishments should copy from our American Cousins ( Costco of course is an American company )... If you know someone who is a member get them to take you round one day,you won't regret it. Well,you might,as you leave with 100 AA batteries that you don't need..... You need a card to enter and purchase items. Great savings and monthly offers. Customer service is great if there is a que then they open more tills. You never wait long. They also have a great food counter to eat in or take away. I bought a jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw for £1.50. Absolute bargin. Cheaper than buying the stuff myself read more

You do indeed have to be a member, but if you are a member, you will reap the benefits. You do need to run a business though, and I don't, so no cheap fifty bottles of coca-cola for me. Sad, bleak, melancholic times are these. My friend does run a business and I can assure you, if you do, Costco is an absolute necessity. You have to buy in bulk of course, so if you run a restaurant that has three customers per week, you will only have 3 plates to wash, so a hundred bottles of washing up liquid would last quite a long time, and could be awkward to store. Having said that, you don't need me to tell you that, and you have greater concerns if your restaurant has got three customers per week, so stop reading this review and go have a brainstorming session or something. read more

My favourite part of Costco, beyond the Christmas mince pies has to be the 'restaurant'. It's hard to argue with the prices or the volume of food, this is where Costco shows its American roots. Personally I don't think you can beat a slice of pizza, although the temptation to take a whole cooked box home is strong. I was introduced to Costco as a child having to do the cash and carry trip with my Dad or my Grandad on a Friday evening and was always amazed at how big things were. Now it is just normal to have a 2kg tub of goats cheese or 120wash box of Fairy Powder. The prices are always very competitive and the store is always keep very very clean and in order. They usually change stock with seasons. The staff are usually very helpful and seem to have a good team in place (with a few exceptions). The photo service is excellent, you are able to upload there in the store and they are available in an hour or do it from home and pick them up when you go - this is the cheaper option with prints from 4p each :) They have a no quibble returns policy which I have never had to use but my Dad has and says it is very easy. It only loses a star because there is sometimes a long wait at the tills, which can be annoying when you see the amount of staff. read more

*Sigh* Yes, I do love me some bulk shopping. It's the American in me-- the bigger the better. A trip to Costco makes me giddy. I don't know if it's because it quells my homesickness to see Kirkland, WA products and find the American things that I crave (Ghiradelli brownies! Hot Dogs! Good American wines! People magazine!) or it's just the miles and miles of floor to ceiling stacked shelves of crazy stuff you didn't know you needed. Walking in the front doors just makes me want to shout, "Super Size Me, Please!" Today's visit was particularly fulfilling because I think I've finally turned my most dubious English husband into a Costco convert. Not only did he indulge me with a proper wander up and down the aisles, he also got into the act, pointing out all the things that would make our lives easier. 40 rolls of toilet paper! We wouldn't have to buy it for months! 200 garbage bags? Throw that in the trolley! Plus, all the Christmas stuff is out. And although I'm fundamentally against any sign of Christmas before the end of November, I couldn't help but pick up a few gifts (and honestly? I'm going back. I think I can do all my Christmas shopping there. You can even pick up designer duds like UGG, Calvin Klein and newest to the mix? Hunter wellies.). Even better? For those of you who still print photos, you can upload digital files to the Costco website where they'll have them waiting for you at the store when you arrive-- and it's is steal. I printed something like 50 4x6 prints for a little more than a pound. Aside from the photo printing, it's not exactly cheap-- we always marvel that we walk out of there with 10 things that have cost us more than 125 GBP. But you will certainly find a deal if you're smart about your shopping. The trick is to NOT buy produce or fresh food. Unless you're feeding a family of 10 or have a mild case of OCD that makes you eat the exact same thing everyday, you'll never go through it before it goes bad (although they do have really great quality meat, so make Costco a priority visit during bbq season. And while you may be dubious about frozen fish, pick up a package of the frozen mixed shellfish-- great quality, and so easy to pull out a handful and toss it in the saute pan for a quick seafood pasta when you're cooking for one or a few). But the stuff that has no expiration can seriously help you stretch your pound. It's also a great place to stock up for a party-- bulk paper plates, plastic wear, cups and booze? Whoop-whoop. And seriously-- the triple chocolate Ghiradelli brownie mix (part of the triple is chocolate chips). All other brownies will forever pale in comparison. read more

Firstly, AVOID THE CAFE. Few different complaints here and not petty little ones. Now some things are cheap, good value for money and some things are ridiculously expensive for the quality you get, so I suppose paying peanuts for cafe food is why you get contaminated sh*t served to you. Last few times we've been it's been worse than the time before. We queued 45 minutes at the cafe for food (around 50 people in the queue, 2 on the till). Both people serving had no hairnets, gloves, anything on for serving food. Stood chatting while 50 odd people were waiting to be served; no rush on them at all. When we finally got served, the pizza was not hot or EVEN WARM. I sit and don't moan because I think "give them some leeway, they're busy". I continue to eat to then pull a long, disgusting hair out of my mouth (blonde, my partner and I are dark haired, so not it isn't ours). We avoid the cafe from that point on but next time purchase 2 chickens from the deli; open them up as soon as we are home and what do we find? A long, light coloured hair across the chicken. DISGUSTING. serving staff do not cover up appropriately ie their hair and those you do see through the glass 'on show' are of course wearing hairnets etc (but every time we go are EATING while preparing the food; NOT allowed when preparing food as you're either contaminating it with your own saliva/hand to mouth germs or with other foods you're eating; someone could be allergic!) Yet you do not actually see the rest of them 'behind the scenes'. Last few times a couple of the sample givers have been quite rude (including the rude woman giving chocolate brownies on Saturday 23/01/16).. people are there to sample; this is your JOB you are PAID to do. Being rude, miserable and snapping at enquiring customers is NOT what you're paid to do (she made repeated sarcastic comments to people "they're not ready for you yet they do need to cool you know I can't just click my fingers" no but you could kick the attitude you old bag). Some of the cashier staff are great, cheerful and quick! A shame they don't get more recognition..bar the odd one. The young girl serving us yesterday was miserable and slower than a sloth at nap time. Let's hope things change fast or environmental health kick some arse in that disgusting cafe. read more
