I took my manual transmission car to the Warden tire centre and the parking brake was pulled up so high I almost could not get it off. Usually it is at about a 45 degree angle and this was almost at a 90. As I drove in the parking lot my car was making a weird brushing sound, so I went back to the bay. Could be this could be that, you need to take it to a mechanic, said the guy. Another guy asked if I was driving with the parking brake on and I said no, but that reminded me about the excessive pull and let them know. After I left the bay, the sound stopped. I think it was due to the person pulling the brake so hard, and it took a couple of releases to get it back to normal. I hope my brake cable wasn't damaged.
Last season, a guy who didn't know how to drive standard attempted to back my car out of the bay as I stood there wondering what the heck was taking him so long. He got out and someone else backed it out. Point is, they shouldn't let staff who are not experienced with standards even attempt to drive one. I would not recommend taking a high-end vehicle there, that's for sure.
The good news is: the guy said he would tell the staff not to pull the parking brake excessively. read more
