This particular store ruined a lot of brand loyalty I've had for Costco in just one day. My parents are Costco members and on occasion I get Costco gift cards from them as gifts (birthday, Christmas, etc). It's never been an issue at any store for me to show the card to the attendant at the front as a substitute for a membership card. I mean why would they even have cash cards if they wouldn't let you in to shop, right? So I go into this Costco today and I was stopped by the attendant. She wouldn't let me into the store unless I went to the maintenance desk and got a temporary membership card, a piece of paper which the cashier just threw out when I went to checkout. I waited in line for this pointless reason for 10 minutes. The guy at the maintenance desk could not give me a good answer for why it was only this store besides it's technically corporate policy and this GM follows that policy. If this was all that happened, I wouldn't be posting here. The problem was they gave me wrong information that wasted even more of my time. The guy at the maintenance desk said that I would have to use the entire balance of the card today while I was in the store. I wasn't planning on buying that much when I came in, but him saying that made it so I needed to buy more. A logical person would hear that and think that of course putting the remainder of the balance on any other debit or credit card would be no issue. He didn't tell me that Costco only takes Visa. So I shop, wait in line for 10ish minutes and when it's time to ring up, I told the cashier about the whole thing up front. He was dismissive of it. That's fine. Would've been nice to have had one good customer service experience. But it's fine. Then I ring up, use the cash card, then it's time to pay the remainder. I couldn't. There's a tone of people behind me. I'm anxious and embarrassed. The guy says to his co-worker "yeah this guy didn't know we only take Visa I guess" like it was common sense. Now I feel insulted as well. I get my cash card back and just walk out. Never have I felt so mistreated as a Costco customer. I was planning on becoming a member soon, but this definitely makes me reconsider. read more

I have been a customer of Costco for years. One of the reasons I pay a membership fee is for the paper products. We have always been satisfied with the Kirkland brand. Today I brought home a bundle of paper towels, only to find out that they are no longer individually wrapped. This is totally unsatisfactory and unsanitary. read more

Before I had good prescription drug coverage, their pharmacy helped guide me better than any other pharmacy ever did. They are so helpful and thorough that I still use them. I like to go through their store. It's always well stocked and have excellent prices on groceries. read more

I love the Costco grocery department. They have plenty of organic produce and proteins. I wish some of the items were not so large but if you look at some of the prices it's still cheaper to buy there and not use it all than to buy at a regular store. My favorite items are: The Kirkland Organic Eggs, The Crumbled President Feta Cheese, berries, etc. I was at a Costco in Austin, TX last weekend and saw a product I wanted. I came to this location to buy it on Sunday but unfortunately they did not have it and one of the sample ladies said she had never seen it. Bummer. This location was insanely busy. I walked around looking and picked up 1 item. When I went to the chekout the lines were so long I set the item down and got out of there. I pulled around for gas and each line was 5 cars deep. I have been shopping at this Costco for my food business for over a year. I spend ALOT of money here. Recently they rolled back their mask requirement for members. The past couple times I've come here, only about half the members bothered wearing one. I asked a supervisor about it and then said they couldn't ask members to wear masks inside their business. I think that is not really true as there are plenty of businesses in the area that require masks. It's a very irresponsible policy given what's going on right now.... read more

I love this store. Their employees are long term. We have been going there since it opened and many of the employees are original . The pharmacy is top notch. The technicians go above and beyond their job description. The quality of their products are supersedes SAM's. The quality of employees at Costco are so much happier at their jobs and more efficient. When you exit Sams they are slow and unfriendly- exiting Costco is efficient, fast and the employees seem happy with their jobs. The manager at Sams stands around and looks at you with a hateful look. Managers at Costco are moving, helping and always cheerful. If you only have a choice of Sams or Costco- Go COSTO all the way. I called in to order a cake and I had to call 4 times to get to a live person. Once I did I explained that I was trying to speak to someone in Bakery and I was told, well the Bakery doesn't have an extension, in a not so nice, snarky voice. (Amanda - South County, Rusty Rd) I then said ok then, who do I speak with to order a cake? She said we don't take orders over the phone, have you done this before? Not sure what sort of company doesn't take online or over the phone orders for cakes, also not sure why they don't have an extension to speak to anyone direct about this. Costco! Get with the program, it's totally ridiculous to have to make someone go in JUST to place an order for a cake. Plus, it might be a good idea to explain to your customer service reps how to speak to members on the phone. read more

I love Costco, but the self check workers today around 5pm were just standing around like a bunch of boobs not helping anyone. Three of them with scanning guns just standing there staring. Aren't they supposed to help scan the stuff in our carts? That's what they've done every time prior. Annoying. Everything else is great. read more

We stopped here on a trip to get some ice. The problem is, they don't sell ice here. So I have to knock a star off for that because one of the things I love about Costco is that I can go to a Costco anywhere and have a similar experience. While I understand that each Costco has slightly different stock, and that's part of the fun, there are some basics that I expect to always be there like milk, toilet paper, and ICE. The cashiers were grumpy. They needs some friendly training. Now, I don't set the bar high for Costco's cashiers, they tend to be a little grumpy everywhere, but it's worth mentioning here at this one. I was able to pick up school uniform's for my kid, so that was good. I think there are three Costcos in STL, so next time, I would try to go to a different one. read more

Let me preface this review by saying that I have never been to a Costco before. I had no idea what to expect upon arriving, but I did know that it as going to be a fun field trip for me! I arrived on a Sunday afternoon and the place was packed. I guess this is where all the cool people go on a Sunday? Who would have thought. As Steven B. mentioned in his review the gas is cheaper than anywhere else and so my friend filled up his tank upon arrival! There was a line for gas which I thought was weird, but I guess it make sense considering it is cheaper. We finally parked and it was time to go inside! I think it's cool how they check your ID card to confirm that you are a member at the front entrance. Our first stop was for the vodka (which they conveniently keep at the front of the store) and then we made our way to the wine area. Holy wine! I was overwhelmed with making a decision-I had no idea Costco had such a wide variety of wine! I could have stayed all day, but I had to make a decision quick. I am certain I selected a few red wines and place them into our cart. I also notice they offer a Petite Sirah but they were out when we went. I'll have to go back and try their version since this is my favorite wine. I know we walked around most of the store including the grocery section where I received a few free samples of juice and popcorn. They also had salmon and other items to try, but of course I went for the junk food. Before I knew it we were in the dairy section and I was so happy to see that they offer a bulk selection of Greek yogurt! They have a variety pack (peach, blueberry, and strawberry) of 15 Chobani cups. I immediately grabbed a pack and I was good to go-that was the main reason for my trip in the first place. I had to see if they had a bulk pack and they did! Kudos Costco! I then wandered around to the bath and body section where I checked out the soaps, lotions, and hair products. I will have to go back once I am in need of these items. When it was time to check out the guy was really friendly and quick. We were good to go within a matter of minutes. We made our way to the exit and decided to grab a bottle of water-well, the vending machine didn't work very well. Our bottles got stuck a few times, but the customer service people were happy to refund out money! We tried another machine and it worked just fine. Overall, this was a good experience and I am glad I was able to go in as a guest! I promise I will make a list of things I need and go for another visit soon! read more

I like this Costco location. It's never too busy, and items are conveniently located and easy to find. They have a good variety of wines and liquor, along with produce. I mostly come here for the sweet globe grapes, coffee k-pods and gas. The gas lines usually aren't too long. Far better than the west county Costco location. read more

Former sams member now costco convert. Why did it take me so long to make the switch?!?! We frequent here weekly and it's one of my favorite stores. It offers a large variety of organic, non-gmo, and gluten free foods at an incredibly reasonable price for its large portions. We try to stock up on the household essentials when there's a sale and our wallets appreciate that. Customer service is usually spectacular and 90% of the staff are beyond cordial. Excellent prices, nice layout. Stocking up for my sister's new place and a superbowl party was a breeze. Great TV selection, found the needed dvd-blueray combo, a great set of colorful coffee mugs and numerous other household items. Then we swung by for samples galore and picked out tasty options for easy superbowl entertaining. Cheese platter, chicken salad, heat and eat pulled pork (shockingly good), fruit tray and the like. This location has a rather poor selection of vegan/vegetarian options. Items will often be there one week and gone another. This makes planning/shopping difficult and frustrating at times. They also don't take American Express and I've had to leave a couple times because I didn't have a back up card with me. The low gas prices are great but I wish they'd add and area to pull off so we can wipe our windshields--that would be amazing. read more

Warning regarding the gas station: the "extended length" hoses at this location are SHORTER than at other Costcos in the area. If you have a big vehicle, don't try to pull the hose across to the opposite side as it likely won't be long enough. Low prices make it worth the potentially longer wait anyways. read more

The Rusty Road location has no customer service whatsoever. I called to cancel my membership as directed on their website. The phone rang forever with no response. Had to call the administration offices to get someone to finally answer the phone. After wasting 30min of my time they tell me I must come in person to cancel; mind you they are happy to auto renew online!!! So now with a pandemic, $5/gallon gas and a heat advisory I have to go to the location in person. I believe we should vote with our loyalty for businesses that are polite and offer good customer service. I will never be a member of Costco again and encourage everyone to consider if this is the kind of business we want to support. I know I don't. read more

I love Costco, plain and simple. I love their cheese danishes without a doubt and the pizza is fantabulous. I use to buy the pepperoni pizza by the slice and now I just buy a whole sausage and pepperoni. $10 for a 18in, that taste great, you can't beat that. I get my baby's pet beds from here. I really like Kirkland products. This is the only place I buy my pot roast-Morton's, it's utterly delicious!!! I have to thank my sister for hipping me on to Costco. read more

I've been to this Costco a few times, it's a huge warehouse like Sams. I have to say sams club layout is more organize and a lot more cleaner than costco. It must be their lighting that makes it look much better. I do love Costco and the things they sell in here. Overall, this is a great Costco. Friendly staff, good variety of items, reasonably priced. Good selection of televisions, electronics, seasonal items, food, housewares, hygiene items. On your way out stop at the cafe to get hot meals like pizza, chicken, brats, soda or ice cream. The only thing I would change is at times, I have a difficult time finding some items. I have to wander around looking for items and at times cannot find them. Other than this, great experience! read more

Today is February 19, 2021, and I have now been a member of Costco for ever since I wrote this original review. Nothing much has changed as far as the store set-up goes. Still no signage to help with finding items. Costco also removes items from the shelves without warning. They often happen to be the ones I found desirable, because organic and nutricious. Example to show what I mean: Mary's Original Crackers. These are gluten free and organic, and a very healthy choice for crackers (no salt no additives, just seeds!). They don't have them anymore. Gone. Other, not so healthy choices, are still on the shelves. The one thing I need to stress is that ALL Costco employees are super nice, at the check-out or whenever one does catch one of them in the store.... which is not very often, sadly. read more

First off when i first bought the membership card the woman selling the membership cards tried to push the $120 platinum card on me and when i said no thank you she turned around and murmured "well i guess you don't want to save money." So incredibly rude and childish. Second, you literally cannot do anything without your oh so sacred membership card. You can't enter or leave the store and even at self checkout they require you to scan your card, oh no i almost bought my items without scanning, better send me to jail. Finally the customer service is laughable to say the least. I just wanted to save money by shopping in bulk, not deal with the brain dead community who works there. read more

Probably due in large part to the fact most people want to forget this year all together and the rest have de-evolved to the point the only thing differentiating them from some of the lower lifeforms are opposable thumbs. Very disappointed. They no longer accept returns like they did. To all of the guardians with the "screaming shit in machines" running around like wild little animals. Here are some tips: 1. Take some responsibility for having children. Maybe cancel the golf outing with chip instead go to a parenting class. Sometimes your parents need more than a friend sometimes they need a parent to tell them to behave. 2. Teach your children about limits. They will be thankful later in life. 3. It may not be too late for you. But after watching your "mother" let the offspring run between the tables and fall down. She states "it's like preschool". Maybe if preschool is a warehouse club with polished concrete Floors and hard fixed tables. 4. Then the screaming banshee runs and throws a churro across the room hitting my leg. At this point I pointed out the shenanigans of her offspring. She gets up and low and behold she is knocked up again. And to top it off I am the rude one who needs to leave? Switching from "that other" warehouse membership to Costco was the best decision ever! Costco is a little farther but worth it. Their gas is always a lot cheaper here. Always fill up or top off. I love that they have a lot of organic produce and foods. They are the country's biggest organic grocer. Especially now that I have a little one, I am more conscious of this (though I don't buy nearly everything organic). Their diapers are great! I was wary of them, but Costco will return your money on anything with no questions asked if you don't like it, so I gave them a chance. We use them exclusively - have never had a leak, and almost never a blowout. Stock up when they have coupons. We do this on any non-perishable, like TP, laundry detergent, dish soap, tissue, and more. They have these veggie burgers and veggie nuggets that are awesome. Also tortilla chips, hummus, pasta and more!! Stock up on iTunes gift cards around the holidays for $80 (for $100 worth). I could go on and on, but I won't. Just go here! read more

I'm a Costco junkie. They got me long ago when I lived in LA. I find the quality of the items that are there are very good. Although not all of the items are cheaper than other places, if you do compare prices, you'll notice that a good majority are cheaper. Yes... they sell rice in 40lb bags, and mayonaise in gallon jars, and boxes of cereal that are large enough that you could fit a child inside. However, I live by myself and still find value in this store. They have a good selection of name brand electronics and offer a great warranty. Their pre-prepared food is good. Gas is $.05 cheaper. Their tire service is handy and economical. And if you're low on funds, for $1.50 you can stop in and get a1/2 hot dog and soda. Maybe it's a cult thing, but I like Costco. There's a new Costco in Manchester. I've found the new one has different items and the layout is different. But all in all, I have the same experiences at both. FYI... their executive membership pays for itself with their cash-back program. I always end up getting a yearly check back for more than my yearly membership dues. read more

AMAZING PIZZA AT COSTCO! Stop the presses. Hold the phone. Forget everything you've ever been told about buying pizza from places other than pizzerias. In this most unusual city where saltines dressed with CheeseWhiz, greasy poor quality meat, and limp veggies masquerade as pizza, I was stunned to find a remarkable tasty, meal-sized slice of New York style pizza at Costco. Even better, the slice was only $2.14 including tax!!!!! This wonderful little bit of heaven boasted a perfect crust that was crispy, but not crunchy. A sauce that was a bit thin on flavor (a little oregano could have cured the problem) and a proper portion of real cheese. The result wasn't the perfect slice, but a superior slice by St. Louis standards. Will Costco chase Ferrara's or Racanelli's out of business? No! And if you're after true pizzeria atmosphere--well, this is Costco. But for a decent slice or whole pie at a true value price, you can do much worse in this pizza-poor part of the world. Much worse. I tried to by gas there at their gas station. I kept getting a "Transaction cancelled See attendant" Ok...where was the attendant? That happened twice and there was no attendant in sight. Do they expect us to solve any problems with the pumps or payment problems at the pump by osmosis? I was thoroughly pissed off and drove away without getting gas when I needed gas badly. If they hired an attendant to work there to assist customers, where was he/her? I'll repeat my self: I WAS THOROUGHLY PISSED OFF.... Inside the store, there is a bird problem. There are birds randomly flying around the store, and the customers seem oblivious to the chirping and them flying from stack to stack and hiding underneath the pallets. Here at this store, it's not as bad as the Manchester store, but the fact that birds are flying around the store and randomly shitting on merchandise is disgusting. At least it's not as bad as the Manchester store, but still, I don't understand why someone inside the store doesn't do more to get rid of the damn birds. Inside the store, some of the managers are rude and not helpful. Some of the managers are nice and helpful. But the rude ones outnumber the polite one. So beware. Some of the managers walk around like they got a stick up their butt and ooze self importance. The regular employees are helpful and will assist you if you are nice and polite to them. Some of them act like they resent being asked questions about where something is and begrudgingly will assist you. The merchandise that they have in many instances are large bulk quantities that are really unnecessary unless you have a very large family or are doing some sort of catering. In other words, why bother? You will waste money by not using it all up unless you buy it for a large family or a business like catering or a restaurant. Much of the other merchandise is over priced in many instances and you can buy it cheaper and not in bulk in other stores. In other words, why bother? For this Costco store, why bother? read more

A great place to buy good quality foods. Their gas station always has lower prices compared to other gas stations, but you do need to have a membership card. They also have good auto services. One time I had to get my tires checked because of low tire pressure and they were able to find the issue and fix it pretty quickly in about an hour. Prices are affordable. read more

Very strange place. You get the gist. They buy in bulk but often so do you. If you actually eat all of the food before it goes bad and have the storage space for all of it, then membership costs can come out worth it. They have some great deals on medicine, tvs, and much more inside. I guess I didn't realize some people do grocery shopping here. If you have a big family and don't eat out maybe it works for you? Also some of the portions are much smaller on certain perishable or expensive goods. Another thing I didn't realize was that people eat at costco. I don't really get why people want to eat at costco and ikea but I tried an all beef hotdog (1/4 pound and comes with free fountain drink) and frozen yogurt (that tasted a lot like a wendy's frosty). It was a great deal. Really, everything at costco can be a great deal. You just have to properly analyze your situation and know what is worth it for you. People seem to overbuy but the savings might be so big that even that isn't a big problem. Enter at your own risk. read more
