Located quite a bit away from the main Costco building, this 3 island (2 pumps each for a total of 12 concurrent spots) has six separate lines. It's actually closer to the Home Depot than the Costco. Each line has enough space for seven cars or so before it split out into the street. But because it is not close to Costco, it would not effect the parking like the ones in California do.

When you've been to Kauai EIGHT times.... I can guarantee you that you will become an expert when it comes to fueling up your rental car. I can also assure you that when gassing up your rental before turning it back in at the Lihue Airport... That you will 100% be willing to wait in that long line at Costco Gasoline in Lihue. Trust me, since our first visit in 2012 and our most recent visit in 2025, I have tried every which way to figure out what's the best way to do it. Do I go for the "Fuel Service Option" at the local car rental place where I pay for a full tank in advance and can return the car on empty? Do I live wild and just bring the car back with whatever amount of fuel is in the tank and have the rental car company then charge me a premium price for re-fuel it? Do I pass up multiple gas stations because I know there's got to be a cheaper station up the road just to save roughly 3 bucks? Or Do I choose to head towards the airport a little early, wait patiently in line, and then get my fuel at Costco Gasoline where they have the most reasonable gas prices in town, maybe even on the island. Trust me, I've done all of these options and Costco is hands down the only way to go. Sure... There's probably gonna be a line. Sure... You might second guess yourself while in that line. But after you pay, save a little money and you realize that the line actually moved fairly quick, you will be happy with your choice. Just don't forget... You MUST be a Costco Member to get gas here. And if you followed my advice about heading to the airport a little early to fuel up and get that car rental back before your flight, might as well head over to the Costco Food Court (which is located on the outside of the Costco) and grab yourself a hot dog and soda for $1.50 or maybe even a slice of pizza. Lord knows, that bag of pretzels on the 6+ hour flight ain't gonna cut it. To Kauai... To Costco Gasoline... To the Costco Food Court... I'll see you next time!!!

10/31/24 Happy Halloween y'all. Today it's $4.79/gal in Lihue, Kaua'i It is conveniently located near the airport so you can fill 'er up before returning the rental. At 8:05 am, no lines! Loving it! Mahalo

Full size SUV, full size pickups, on right, benefit the most from getting gas here, compared to subcompact Subaru Impreza in front of me

Gas station for gas guzzlers. Had to fill up the gas tank before returning the car to the Lihue airport car rental 4 miles away, or have the car rental company charge me $6 per gallon to fill the tank. Drove to the Costco Gasoline station in Lihue, which next to the Home Depo, a quarter mile away from Costco warehouse on the opposite side of the huge commercial block. Two entrances, one from the main street Nuhou, and another from the side street Ula Makia Street, the latter has a longer waiting area, and is more accessible to the 5 of the 6 lines. 3 islands, 6 lines, 12 gas pumps, for an island of 70,000 residents. with 20,000 visitors at any week. Islands have a roof over them, but when it rains, people pumping gas on the extreme ends will get rained on in windy, rainy Kauai. Gas station far smaller than the Costco gas station on Kahului, Maui which has 5 islands, 10 lines, 20 gas pumps, and far more room for the long lines. Friday 11:30am, traffic 6 cars deep for each of the 6 lines. We get in the far left hand side line, as the inner 5 lines blocked by a full size SUV Chevy Suburban snaking in from the other direction. Not enough space to have straight lines. Person two vehicles in front of me is a local with a pickup truck, and has to pull the gasoline hose over the truck bed to the opposite side of the truck with the gas filler. Van cuts in along the extreme left pass through lane. Lane cutter trying to pass in front of a car gassing up, to the vacant forward gas pump? Fortunately no, as road rage happens even in the land of Aloha. Meanwhile, the next car, a sedan pulls out to the left and passes the pickup truck, swinging in front of the pickup to the vacant forward pump. Takes forever to fill an empty 36 gallon pickup truck gas tank, which is double the capacity of my bathtub. Will cost him a Woodrow Wilson bill! Dude tops off the tank, and then fills up gasoline cans in the truck bed, for his gasoline powered lawn mower and leaf blower. At least he didn't have a twin gasoline tank with fuel fillers on both sides of the pickup bed! Get out my Costco Id card and swipe it through the register, and then swipe my visa card through the machine. A couple of years ago, had to use ATM cards, as Costco would only take American Express visa. Gas nozzle doesn't have the gasoline fume abatement attachment like in California, and the hold open rack doesn't work, so I have to hold the pump down the entire time, while gassing up. 7.3 gallons later, I'm done filling up the 2019 Nissan Altima sedan, which traveled 219 miles in 1 week, averaged 30 miles per gallon, good for a mid sized car, compared to 22 miles per gallon on a similar sized Ford Fusion which I rented a year ago. $3.29 per gallon is a bargain -unless you forgot to renew your Costco membership, in which case a $60 surcharge, to cover your dues for the next 12 months, will be added to your fuel bill! Need to go to the restroom? Sorry at the rock bottom price of $3.29 a gallon Costco can't afford restrooms out at the gas station. You will have to walk a quarter mile, and use the employee's bathroom at the back of the warehouse farthest from the entrance, as no tall bushes nearby! Drive toward Lihue airport car rentals for returning the car, 4 miles away, past an Aloha gas station selling gas at $3.89 for those who aren't Costco members. Saved $0.60 a gallon or $4.38 total by gassing at Costco. But took 16 minutes getting to the Costco gas station from the highway, waiting, gassing up, and returning to the highway, while I could have filled up the gas tank at the Aloha gas station on the highway in 2 minutes, with no waiting. The Chevrolet Suburban driver saved up to $18.60 filling up his 31 gallon tank at Costco gas, and made everyone behind him wait that much longer. Which is why Costco gas station benefits gas guzzlers more than gas sippers. 4 miles and 12 minutes later I return the car to Alamo car rental at Lihue airport, getting billed $231 for 7 days, making the $4.38 chump change. $3.09 at the Honolulu Costco gas station, only 108 miles away, but by boat!

Long lines but popular due to the low(er) prices

Gasoline prices are 50 cents per gallon less than what I typically see. I was already in Lihue visiting Popui Beach. Well worth the stop for gas

What is not to like with gas prices that are 80-90 cents a gallon less than the typical island station? Nothing. We come to take the Costco gasoline experience for granted, but having a discount per gallon this steep was really comforting when filling our thirsty rental Jeep. $3.29 a gallon for regular unleaded during our September 2018 visit, where some stations around the island were charging $4.15 a gallon (Princeville Shell). The line wasn't too bad, even with one pump down and covered with a yellow plastic "out of service" sleeve on it. We were in and out in less than 15 minutes, so not only value based, but a quick fill of our big Jeep's tank. When we visit again, this will be our central gas filling spot.

I've never seen an emptier Costco gasoline station. The location is right near the airport, so I always bring my rentals back full!

OMG gas here is so unbelievably cheap. Amazing! Worth the short wait and going a tiny bit off the main road.

Cheapest gas on the island by $0.70 or more. Bonus points for being able to see mountains and feral chickens while you fill up

Yay cheap Costco gas! Lines moved very quickly and of course it's the cheapest on the island.
