Whenever we travel, we like to stop by the local Costco, sometimes for gas/petrol but mostly to see what unique products they carry. As we all know, Costco offers a limited selection of items, so it's always fun to see what popular items locals are buying.
This location had a great variety of Asian products, especially Chinese noodles, along with a nice selection of snacks and chocolates--probably because Christmas is just around the corner. We also noticed some interesting food court items like the Aussie meat pie and chicken tenders with fries, which seem to be exclusive to New Zealand stores
This Costco is located in the Westgate area, about a 30-minute drive from Auckland's CBD. We took an Uber there, and the experience was just like visiting any Costco in the US, scan your membership, walk in, and start exploring.
Overall, we're glad we checked it out. The Aussie meat pie, though, was a bit bland and could have used more seasoning (maybe some mushrooms or onions). Also, the hot dog is made entirely of pork here, while I personally prefer the all-beef version back home. read more
