I love visiting Costco around the world. It's fascinating what you can find in global locations vs. the ones back home in the states. What's noticeably different compared to the states is the selection of party tray foods, seafood variety, and frozen foods. However compared to New Zealand, it's quite similar. You can find Yamazaki 12 in the alcohol section. This will get snatched up so fast in the states, especially in predominantly Asian areas like where I'm from. The food court offers the same pizzas and hot dogs like the states, but they have boba milk tea. Like what?? For about USD $2.50 you can get decent boba milk tea. Nuts. The wait to retrieve your food order took a while though and was unorganized compared to the states.

I'm comparing this Costco to ones in the USA. My experience at this Costco was great!, but it looked like every other Costco I've been to. The key differences: They have some local products and Asian products here that you won't find in the USA. Like TimTams and Miso Ramen Pringles. If you visit the snack bar: 0 stars from me. Pork hot dog was gross, no flavor Pepsi zero tasted like seltzer water Korean fried chicken wings are cooked in the pizza oven, so it looks unevenly cooked. Pizza here doesn't have enough cheese Service here is terrible, constantly yelling at the patrons to back up like cattle. Shopping cart or "trolley" as they call it got stolen while I was grabbing a snack. But Costco was nice enough to see my receipt and let me get my shopping items that got stolen. I was advised to keep my cart with me at all times... even in that crowded line? Really? My advice is to eat first shop later.

I did it, I finally did it. I took out a kid with a shopping trolley. TICK. To be fair, I didn't do it on purpose - little bastard flew out of approximately nowhere -and also to be fair, a Costco trolley is a giant unmaneuverable behemoth built for Thor the god of thunder. Kid was maybe 8, 9 at a stretch, and I took her right in the hip. She flew into a display of giant ranch dressing bottles and got up and bounced away without missing a beat. I blinked a few times and rolled on, hoping nobody saw. I expected disaster but the whole thing was surprisingly pleasant. Satisfying, even. Which pretty much sums up my whole Costco experience. I expected it to be a depressing, shabby shitshow but, credit where credits due, it was more or less awesome. The pluses: 1. Names brands + good quality stuff. This isn't like Aldi, where there are brands like Sunnybrook and Wood Hill that you've never heard of but feel like you kind of have and they have packaging sort of familiar to the brands you know and love. Here there's Cadburys, Haribo, Sony, Smiths, all the things you're familiar with and trust the quality of. 2. The cafe. After exiting the car park there's a cafe you have to walk past to get into the warehouse. And it's great. Sells biiiig $2.50 low fat froyos, $1.50 churros with cinnamon and sugar, $4.99 Korean bulgoki wraps, and a $2.50 hot dog and Coke deal. Come at me with your bargains, bro. 3. The taste testing. On the end of every aisle is a middle-aged man or woman handing out samples of whatever is on special that week. I had hot chips with ranch dressing, chocolate mousse, craisins, orange Chinotto and green and black olives. Do the rounds and dominate that biz. My favourite buy was a 1L bottle of Nandos hot peri-peri sauce. It's my favourite drink. The only drawback to the whole deal? It's a 30min drive to get to. Which is probably a good thing otherwise I'd be here every damn weekend. Oh and the $60 membership .... meh, it is what it is. Don't let it get to you and you'll have a great time.

Cool place! Flat out though! But the prices are insane in the membrane! If you are looking at buying for an event or a party this is the place to go! It is only worth while if you are going to buy in bulk! But the best part by far is the cafeteria, the giant pizza's are amazingly cheesey and fresh and hot and cheap! Massive tasty pizza for $15. I would go back just for the pizza!

Costco is a wholesale warehouse and sells everything from pin to plane. (Not the Boeing, although I haven't checked?!) Costco is a membership based club and you need to lighten your wallet by $60 annually. Worth it? Maybe, Maybe Not? For myself, I have decided to wait it out.. Although I live less than 5 minutes away from Costco, I'm not planning on making any big purchases this year, which will give me the price advantage of shopping there. I find the fruits and veggies cheaper at Sydney Markets, the grocery competitively priced at Aldi and with officeworks willing to price beat by 5 percent, all my home office and stationery needs are taken care of. But with Christmas deals coming right up, who knows, I might become a member sooner than intended.

I'm still riding my Costco high as I write this, so please excuse any nonsensical ramblings beyond my usual level. Costco is a little slice of North-American style heaven, and I'm proud to be a consumer whore. You won't always save money on what you're purchasing, but you'll at lease get a better quality product for the same amount. The $60 membership fee seems to scare a lot of people away, but you really make it up in a couple visits. Their beer selection alone is comparable to the best sale prices elsewhere. I've never seen a case of hoegaarden for over $45 there. Today I grabbed up a case of Blue Moon for $48 and a case of imported Peroni for $42. Their meat selection is fantastic and wide ranging with Lilydale Chicken Breasts at $14/kg and steaks ranging from cheap to pricey. I usually grab a tray of amazing rib eye reasonably priced at $25/kg. Mostly though, Costco is an experience. Sure, it's crowded, children dive in front of your cart, people abandon their buggies in a crowd to go stand around in another crowd, and no one sticks to the left hand side of the isle, but that's all part of the experience. Enjoy it. Savour it. Laugh at the giant frozen pizzas that won't fit in most Australian ovens. Grab a pre-made prawn tray to serve 40 of your closest friends - and don't forget to grab a $1.99 hot dog combo on the way out.

Unfortunately I think Costco is a little overrated. Although you buy in bulk, I don't feel like you get the branded items you would in a supermarket. For example I wanted to buy cans of tuna, however when I came to choose, I only had 2 options - both brands I had never seen or heard of before making me realize you don't know what you're paying for. Additionally, a lot of the products are processed and packaged so buying these things in bulk does not appeal to me. Additionally there's only so many fruit and veg you can buy without it going off as the portion is too large to eat in time. For certain things I think it's great eg households items etc. I can see how a lot of people go crazy in there - so many impulse purchases can happen in there. I'd say the average spend is $1000 per customer!

Costco Auburn is hands down the best Costco seafood department I've ever seen. The selection is huge, incredibly fresh, and far better than what I'm used to at other Costco locations. The store itself is busy (as expected), but well run and stocked. Everything feels clean and organized, and the staff keep things moving even during peak times. If you shop at Costco and care about seafood, this location is absolutely worth the trip. Easily stands out from other Costcos I've visited. I want this supply in the USA. read more
Well, if you have been following, you already know I am a big loyal Costco fan/customer! Almost everywhere we travel, I like to visit the local Costco. It gives me insight into the local communities. Quality/Quantity - Food court, different products, none of which I really liked, but HAD to try. Boba Drink - See picture, very different from the boba drinks I am used to. KFC, Korean Fried Chicken - Generous portions, but again the flavors are not even close to what I expected for KFC. It is nice to see that they still have the combo pizza in their food courts, I sure miss that where I'm from. Other departments available - Tire center, optical center, hearing aids, etc. Did not see any local AU beers... Let alone any craft beers. Anyways, it was fun to walk around the ENTIRE Costco to see what they sold differently than the USA. I also liked the wine and food pairing chart, see picture. Atmosphere - Open 7 days a week from 9:30am or 10am to 6pm, 6:30pm, or 8pm. See my picture or website. Service - Good. Price - Especially with the USA currency exchange, everything is less expensive. Including membership cost! Can I pay in AU $ moving forward, LOL...? Owner Comment - Congrats on your success at this location since 1983. Congrats on all your success since 1976, since Price Club. Now you are the 5th largest retailer in the world and #10 on the Fortune 500. 804 warehouses worldwide, with 558 in the US. 1980 IPO. 1993 Price Club and Costco merger. 1997 Rebrand all locations to Costco. 2020 105.5 million members. read more

I believe this is the only Costco in Australia so it was pretty pack even on a weekday. I, however, love Costco because they're price is always competitive. It's not as competitive as some US Costco, but, hey, $1.00 saving is still $1.00 saving. I love Costco, so it brings me happiness shopping here. Tip: As long as you have a Costco card, you can use it ANYWHERE in the WORLD! read more
It's no secret I'm a big fan of Costco. We're only a couple, and it's still worth it (paying the membership) for us. The quality of the goods you get here is better than Aldi or the other big supermarkets. This one is laid-out almost the same as all the other ones, except that it has two cool rooms. And booze. It has booze (which is something Costcos in Canada don't have). This place get crazy busy on the weekend - avoid it then if you can. If you can't, it's not too bad. The service has always been pretty good. The takeaway food part is almost always busy - it seems like a lot of people just drop by for takeaway without going in. You don't need to be a member to get food to go, and the pizza's are cheap, huge, and made with good ingredients. You can't beat the $2 hot dogs - again, the quality is better than almost any others you'll find anywhere. Oh, and the $2 hot dog comes with a a free drink, with free refills (!!!). read more

This place is always busy, but fast moving. I haven't had to wait in line too long to get served. Definitely great if you're throwing a party or have a big family. Wouldn't recommend for weekly shops with a small family. Also, a cheap meal from the canteen with huge size pizza. read more
Repeat after me - 'Costco is the best place in the world' From buying weird stuff in bulk that you've never heard of, to gorging yourself on free samples, this place rocks! 84 slices of America cheese - got it. Jelly Belly beans in bulk - got it. 50km of toilet paper - what a catch! Coffin - maybe next time. Feeling thirsty - $2 for a footlong hotdog with a soft drink. Want pizza - hope you bought the trailer, the damn thing is the size of a dining table. Costco frequent shopper tip - this place has the best returns policy. If something goes wrong within 12 months then return for refund. Don't abuse this, I'd hate to see it change, but it's a good safety net. read more

A lot of people are put off by the membership fee but I think it's worth it even if you don't have a big family. TIP: You can sign up for membership online, this will save you the long queue at the membership counter on weekends. We're a couple with no kids and we still get a lot of stuff from Costco and manage to finish them off. I especially love buying the bagels and boxes of oranges, while my husband always stocks up on the Quaker Oats. The cakes are good value if you're having a party, but make sure to buy them near the date as their best before date is only 2-3 days from when they're made. There's also pizzas, party platters and large quantities of meat and seafood which you can buy for big social gatherings. Their steaks are pretty good quality at a reasonable price. They have a lot of items from the US which you can't get from any other grocery shop. I've found some of the electronics and dry goods to be of good value too. They were selling the home entertainment system we have for about $400 cheaper than what we bought it for, but I'm guessing at the time the model has become old when they had it in store. Almost everything is sold in bulk, so be prepared to pay $100 or more even if you have only a few items in your trolley. They don't have plastic bags but you can get used boxes by the counters to put your purchases in. The pizza and hotdog at the food court outside are tasty and cheap, but I reckon too much of these in your diet isn't much of a good thing. read more
It's the strange fascination that had my partner and I planning a trip to Costco like you would plan a trip to the Easter Show. We prepared to pay too much to get in, fight crowds of idiots zigzagging along and waving their arms about, eat crappy deep fried food on a stick, gawk at things we don't get to see in our daily lives (the other customers) and come out exhausted and broke with all sorts of crap that we'll never use. What we found was exactly what we expected. Ever the gentleman, my partner offered to push the giant trolley. No! You're too polite. We'll end up stuck next to the TVs, going in circles until they send in a rescue crew. As long as you go knowing what you're in for and knowing your battle plan, you'll love your day at Costco. The $60 fee didn't seem too bad when we got in and the first thing we saw was 2L Frank's Red Hot for $11. 6L later I had more than made my membership cost back. The biggest trap with Costco is to go totally overboard. Everything does seem, and is, so cheap but we (a couple with no kids) spent the best part of $600. Admittedly we were stocking up for my sister-in-law and her 6 kids as well but I still felt my first ever case of sticker shock. It was worth it though. I remember primary school. Lunchbox maketh the popular kid and with a 50 box of LCMs those kids are going to have friends to spare. One tip: don't get the cooked Buffalo Wings. Like an American peach, they're huge but they're tasteless. Lucky I had all that hot sauce... read more

The prices aren't as competitive as you might think. As I have visited the US Costco locations, I know that the prices can be lower - much lower! The product range isn't quite as extensive. I came in on a Friday afternoon and the experience was a pleasant one. I can only imagine on weekends! I bought 6 servings of chicken breast tenderloins for $15, 5 servings of Bacon for $9, I bag of edamame for $$7.50, 18 eggs for $4.30. You get the idea - it is cheap but not overly cheap. read more

Went to check out what the fuss was about this place and I am certain im due to come back, although it is very busy during the weekends! A $60 membership card for 1 year allows you to purchase goods. The warehouse is divided into aisles which is unmarked so you'd be spending time looking for groceries. Though there are a few staff around with highlighted vests to ask. Generally, the prices are more expensive, but the products your buying is in bulk. Also most items are USA products. If you dont like products that you have bought, you have a guaranteed refundable purchase that is IF you are still an existing member. - (which I find really amazing that I could buy all my electronics and still refund it after months of purchase.) Great food, American sized pizza's for 3$ or wholes for 15$, hotdogs and bottomless drinks Great customer service, I had a few workers helping me out with my TV, very friendly, respectful and professional. Great experience, give it a go! read more
have to be a member, or be with a member, they wont let you in otherwise! well, was a little disappointed as I was expecting to see more of the US brands available. prices arent bad, but you can easily get carried away and buy a whole lot of stuff you dont really need. Check the expiry date on the foods...great price on a 1kg tub of yoghurt, but with the expiry date in 2 days time...mmmm not sure I can eat that much that quickly! alcohol prices arent too bad though. watch out for the crazy people trying to park...though its worse with the trollies inside the store, you will have an accident. read more

if shopping is a hobby for you then you will be happy to visit Costco but make sure you go with a member or you won't even be allowed in the door. Membership is $60 per year and you can give a second person membership for free if they live at the same address. I took a friend of mine and she was like a little kid in a candy store. She stopped and touched everything and kept grabbing me and saying - ooo look at this - . I did get a headache and a bruise on my arm by the end of the day. They have taste testing of their products which is fun - allowing you to try before you by . This is not somewhere I would do my weekly shopping. It is somewhere to go every couple of months Things I recommend The 5 pack of scotch brand scissors best sharpest scissors I have ever had - you could use these for dressmaking or craft The coloured pure Komachi high carbon stainless steel knives - about $30 for 5 knives - great quality , sharp and easy to use. at christmas time they have beautiful paper and ribbons which are great value and look great ladies tights - fantastic quality great fit $20 winter snow gear - great value - can't remember the price mens shirts - I bought one for my partner and gave it to him - I did not tell him it came from Costco or he would never have worn it. He loved it. Great fit, ( you choose size and arm length) great range of colours wrinkle resistant so you hardly have to iron them and they feel nice to wear. - I can't remember whether it was $20 or $30 - either way a great bargain. Food The Mexican salsa - comes in a large double pack - it is so delicious the Mexican cheese mix - I think it comes in a one kilo bag but you can freeze it so it will last you a long time . you pour the salsa on corn chips and top with this cheese - then microwave for instant delicious nachos The cheese and spinach pie about $7 for a kilo and it comes in a packet that you cook it in - no washing up the vegetarian samosas - about $7.50 for 30 - outstanding value and delicious to boot. The bagels are great value - 2 packets of 6 for $10,00 - these freeze really well. My mum loves the cream puffs - just take them out of the freezer , allow to thaw and then sprinkle on some icing sugar - instant dessert - friends will be amazed at how clever you are The cafe outside always looks busy. I tried a frozen yoghurt at the cafe one day and it was so super sweet I couldn't eat it so I wouldn't return. COSTCO is not for everyone. It is always busy and on the weekends it is so crazy busy you wonder why you are there. The trolleys are big, so if you are a bad driver do not come here and injure people with your trolley - you will not be appreciated. You must appreciate bargains and be happy with buying things in bulk or you will not appreciate the spirit of Costco My friend ended up spending over $600 on her first visit and became a member - I guess she liked it. TIP - REMEMBER TO TAKE A FREEZER BAG WITH YOU and do your food shopping in the freezer and fridge last. read more

While Aldi's buyers are well known for their low cost groceries and their special buys. Costco's buyers are well known for internationally tested good quality branded product. Not all products are cheaper than the supermarkets so please shop with care. The best thing in Costco is their lifetime guarantee, and their "demonstration in progress" which is when you can sample their bite sized food prepared on premise. "CAFETERIA" I love their 14" takeaway pizza which is very good value. Also recommend their Bulgogi bake, Hot dogs, churros, meat pies and frozen yoghurt. read more
