I decided to come here for breakfast after spending the night in nearby Stoke-On-Trent. The look and feel of the place is pretty laid back and similar to any other in the Lounges chain. The staff here seemed friendly and were happy to modify my breakfast without complaining. I ordered the GF Lounge Breakfast with the following changes: - Poached Eggs instead of fried - An extra egg instead of the GF roll (I hate seeded bread!) - An extra sausage instead of the bacon I was a bit disappointed with the quality of my food. My food was served without the allergen red flag, I did clarify this with the manager who brought out my food who confirmed it was gluten-free. I later found out the flag was placed in the beans, which were originally missing when my food was brought out. After making the staff member aware, he brought them straight out but they were served cold. The eggs were very overdone and were like rocks, and the hash browns could have been crispier. The tomato was also much smaller than usual. The sausages were tasty as always, but again they were warm at best and not hot. I ended up eating my meal because I was tired and hungry and wanted to take medication but I did feel the quality of food overall was not up to the usual standards set by other locations in the Loungers chain. 2*

As the name suggests, it is located in an old school building, small but perfectly formed. The cafe is a little gem when you get here. The food is lovely, afternoon tea is excellent and the choice and service is very good. There is plenty of parking, and the location is great if you fancy a walk either before or after your visit. The only problem is that because it is quite small inside, it can get full, so you need to be willing to wait sometimes.

A Staffordshire oatcake (not to be…read moreconfused with the biscuit-y, scone-y Scottish version) is more like a thick crepe made from oats and yeast, and filled with savoury goodies. Oatcake Heaven came recommended and it didn't disappoint: the tiny storefront offers up oatcakes (and other baked goods) with a wide range of fillings. I dropped by for lunch and placed my order with the kind lady at the register. Five minutes and £3 later, and I walked off with two oatcakes (bacon, mushroom & cheese). The oatcakes came wrapped in paper and plastic, steaming hot. And turns out two is the perfect serving for a quick lunch. Both were delicious, though the mushroom & cheese was a little easier to eat (the meaty, thick cut bacon poured out of the wrap) This one's worth another stop if I'm back in the area
