Sad to say, I should've done more research. Tea was a disaster. The tea was mediocre, scones weren't very good at all, and the tea sandwiches were disappointing. The place felt very dark and dusty, and the decor was very tired looking. The servers looked very tired and nervous as well. I feel that with a bit more effort, the experience would change for the better, as the location is good. Overall, a poor experience, so I won't be returning.

My breakfast at Timbers surpassed every meal I've had here. I had the Big Breakfast which was more like HUGE breakfast! The sausage, bacon and mushrooms were super flavorful and the eggs were cooked perfectly! I would recommend this place to anyone and everyone visiting or living in Colchester. The menu is possibly the most interesting to be seen in Colchester in a long while, with an excellent selection of Chef's Specials to compliment the fine range in the a la carte. Two starters and two mains were the tried. All were freshly made, well presented and excellent. Although the prices are by no means cheap they are very fair for the quality of cuisine and there are set prices for two or three courses.
