On a whirlwind 2 week vacation to Ireland, the girlfriend & I tried to see & experience absolutely as much of this incredible land as we could. We did not accomplish every last activity we wished we could have on our rather ambitious itinerary. Nonetheless, we did discover a land of numerous stunning & magical wonders. We did see a land of unending natural beauty. We did learn of a land with a monumentally long history of trials, tragedies & triumphs. We did get to meet many kind, humorous, warm & generous people. Our vacation to Ireland was just 2 weeks, but that was time enough to know this is a land easy to love & a land to be sorely missed.
Having previously lived very close to Seattle before the mighty Starbucks empire expanded to every corner of the globe, I was already familiar with Starbucks coffee before most of the rest of Earth's population. As such, when I saw Starbucks in Ireland my natural response was "been there, done that." So when the girlfriend & I were in the mood for some coffee while walking around & exploring Belfast, we bypassed the nearby Starbucks & tried out Costa Coffee instead.
Admittedly, Costa Coffee wasn't a very adventurous alternative to the world's most gigantic coffee chain, but comparing 1 coffee chain to another can be interesting. Though, in this particular instance, it didn't turn out to be that interesting, after all. Decor, layout & service were all principally similar to the megalithic chain of coffee shops from Seattle. I ordered a Cinnamon Latte. It was busy so it took a while. Once I got it, it was decent, maybe even pretty good, but nothing especially magnificent.
Costa Coffee is a coffee chain that I had not tried before coming to Belfast. Compared to the behemoth of all coffee chains, getting my Cinnamon Latte at Costa Coffee was OK overall, but didn't really offer anything new, unique, or better to the whole coffee chain experience. read more
