STILL waiting on a refund. Every time I call, the person I speak to insists that the last person I spoke with gave inaccurate information. I've spoken with customer service, escalation specialists, and a manager and nobody has gotten my refund. They all insist it's been processed. I've been given different dates to expect it in my account. Each time they push the date back and promise they're telling the truth. I've incurred late fees waiting for this refund because they haven't returned money that should have been used for bills. And what makes it worse is there is zero accountability. They all just say sorry, but you have to wait and be patient or "I don't know what you want me to say, the last person gave you wrong information." BEWARE, AVOID THEM AT ALL COSTS. read more

I initially gave this office 5 stars because of a lady in this office by the name of Jacqueline and how I thought she handled a certain situation. I've since come to learn that a witty response and a nice smile may be the only strong points she possesses. A few months ago, I bought my wife a new vehicle and was swindled out of a lot of money just to add it to my policy from another Cost U Less office in south Sacramento. After dealing with Jacqueline, and catching her strong points, (witty responses and a nice smile) and getting contacted by some district manager for the Cost U Less offices for reimbursement, I left with a not so bitter taste in my mouth about this company. Then I got called damn near every other week if not every week with a request to remove my review. (Funny how these calls and requests all came before any reimbursement). Well anyhow, just recently, I was billed for a higher dollar amount than I normally get billed for. After calling (getting bounced around the globe on the phone) and finding out why, the reason was I told was because they took my marriage discount away... ARE YOU SERIOUS??!! At this point I'm wondering who told them I was divorced because last I checked, I woke up next to my wife. So I ask the agent on the phone why did they take my discount. She then told me it was because they couldn't read my marriage certificate. WOW!!! Strange how one company can read it for a whole year and another company can't. I was later told it was because Jacqueline either never sent it or sent a botched copy of my original one. Further more, I wasn't even notified of this illiteracy issue until almost 3 months after switching policies. NONE OF THIS IS A FAULT OF MY OWN!!!!! So I called Jacqueline, got d¡©{ed around again, put on hold never to be called back, then told with a nice smile and a witty response, that there was nothing she could do for me because my bill was due in 3 more days. AGAIN, NONE OF WHICH IS MY FAULT!!! But now im stuck paying a bill that's gonna set me back on another bill until Cost U Less feels its in their plans to correct this! Do not get insured by this company. Worst costumer service! They forgot to mention I needed to go in person to one of their store to get an sr22. And because of that my Driver license got suspended. They did not want to reimburse me for the money that I paid to get my Driver license back. After being transferred and waiting on the phone for 40 mins, it took me back to the main menu because there wasn't anyone to pick up my call. It was such a waste of my time. Would not recommend to anyone. The agents of any brokerage are ultimately responsible of informing any client about all information and due fees that are NOT part of the insurance. I was unaware that they charge extra fees, and since it was electronically signed, I got hit with a broker's fee of $450, which was meant to be a deposit of $450 for the insurance company, as I was led to believe. I found this out as the insurance agency had no record of the "deposit". After speaking with them today, I was told I was required to read all the "fine" print before accepting the conditions online. However, they were not able to provide me with the complete copy of the agreement, as I requested, further supporting that the fee was not in the contract. If it was, it was well hidden, as a fee of that magnitude should be, for any business to remain open. From what they say, it should have been $250 as a broker's fee, and $200 as a deposit for the car insurance, except the car insurance never received the $200. It never left the broker's hands. There's no universe in which $450 is a reasonable broker's fee for CAR INSURANCE. It's a ripoff. You're better off dealing directly with the insurance company. read more

I Googled insurance places close to the car lot I recently bought a car from and this place popped up. I called them and the dude on the other line, Rodrigo, helped me set up insurance for my new car so I could drive it off the lot. He was super friendly, explained everything to me, and got me a good deal. Everything was done over the phone and I went it a few days later to sign all the paperwork. The place of business is kinda dungey looking, they had Tupac playing on the sound system (which I thought was very unprofessional ) but I was in and out in less than 15 minutes. Rodrigo set me up with a company and I'm paying $98/month for full coverage on an SUV. if your looking for a place without the hassle, I'd recommend Cost U Less. The brokerage fees are kinda high, $100+ but if you can talk them down its worth it. read more

I first heard about this place from the dealership I bought my car from. It was very quick and easy, but about 2months into my policy I noticed my payments were not being taken from my account. I called to follow up and was told my policy had been canceled. Confused I asked how this could have happened, especially since I have not receieved any documents from the carrier. I was then informed the carrier had my address wrong. JOHN insured me he will take care of things and asked that I come in after work. After work I went straight down there. John discussed my situation with Rodrigo whom then assisted me. He was quick easy and very helpful. He not only able to rectify the situation he was able to lower my monthly payments by almost a hundred dollars. Ive been around long enough to know no one is perfect, not even companies but to me its how those mistakes are handled that shows their true character. The only reason I put 1 star was because I couldn't start the review without selecting at least 1. My 79 year-old mother went to this insurance company a week ago. She went in to get a quote, not a policy, because her then current insurance was about to expire. She met with Rodrigo who started fast-talking her and before she knew it, had signed a policy thinking it was a quote. He didn't produce a quote, he produced a policy. He took a copy of her bank card and immediately took a $250 fee. Why did he need a copy of her bank card? I've never had to provide a copy of my bank card for someone to "at will" withdraw money from your account. That sounds fishy to me. If anyone else has given them a copy of your card, I strongly suggest you close that account and get a new account and a new card. Rodrigo then proceeded to tell her another payment due of $193 and another $145 due by the first of the month. Before the first of the month came, she got a letter telling her the policy would be cancelled. She called me, her daughter, and told me what happened. I couldn't believe it but then again, these off-the-wall, not-known, insurance companies pop up all over the place. Their sole purpose is to stay in business long enough to make lots of money from disadvantaged consumers before going out of business. I am so pissed off that she was taken advantage of the way Rodrigo did. She called him back to ask questions about the $250 fee that he didn't hesitate to quickly withdraw from her account. Oh, wait! Now I understand. The copy of the card is so that if you don't send your payment in by the due date, they'll help themselves to the payment right out of your account. Doesn't that seem like stealing? She said he was rude to her on the phone and said, she's not getting her money back. She also told him to cancel the policy. Isn't she entitled to get a refund of at least the insurance premiums of $193 and $145? My mom is on Disability and to throw that type of money out the door hurt and then for them to not even care is simply a pathetic human being. Now's she in a situation where she can't pay her rent. What type of customer service is that?!! What type of company is this?!!! I wish my mom had called me before she went in b/c I would not have let her produce a copy of her bank, nor write up a policy, and definitely not speak to her the way he did. I live in San Diego and might just go to Sacramento myself to speak to this Rodrigo. Then we'll see if he sells me the same bag of s***t, he sold my mom. As I read all of these complaints about the company, I'm not surprised. And I'm not surprised by the "canned" replies from the company to the complaints. That's a "risk management" ploy to make people who read these posts think they care and will do something to help you resolve the issue. My mom reported the incident to the Better Business Bureau. I'm going a step further. I did some research on "Brokers Fees" and other responsibilities of an insurance agent and company. I found the following, Barclay's Official California Code of Regulations; Title 10-Investments; Chapter 5 - Insurance Commissioner, Sub-chapter 1 - Production of Insurance - Article 8 - Brokers Fees https://govt.westlaw.com/calregs. I'll be writing a letter to the Insurance Commissioner of California. Also, check out the complaints on the BBB website. If you haven't posted your complaints there, you should. The more places we can share this information to help other people, the better. I think I'll put it on Facebook too. Yelp is the best thing ever. The experience I had at the office was ok. But somewhere down the line that was lost. Made arrangements to pay the brokeage fee in two payments; I made the first payment before the arranged date and the second payment not due until the end of the week. Well received a letter stating they are sending me to a collection agency!!! How you gonna do that when I'm keeping up my end.
