The stylist said it would be much more like $90 which is much more reasonable... she literally was incompetent. The hair was frizzy. She didn't even come the hair down. The pins were all sticking out and she did very weak curls even though I said this has to last for the next 5 to 7 hours within 90 minutes, the whole Hair design was falling out the back pen braids were completely loose and falling out and the very loose sloppy curls she put in with the hot iron were completely straight... It was like taking $100 bill and burning it. Buyer beware not all of their stylists are competent.

She continued to insult me, and actually laughed at me, and brought over some co-workers to laugh with her about how ridiculous it was. Then she had me sign a waver saying it wasn't her fault if something happened to my hair because I was being unreasonable. I just couldn't believe what was happening. Yes, mistakes happen in hair. And I understand that. I wasn't mad that it needed to be fixed, I just wanted it to be the color I asked for. The only part that was offensive is the way they handled the whole situation. I decided to try a small town place and having the owner cut my hair, I though to myself "At least she won't move away." I came with a picture of what I wanted. My hair was about 6 inches past my shoulders and I asked for it to be right to my shoulder with bangs and a few layers. I explained that I wear my hair up in a ponytail almost daily, so it must still fit into a ponytail. After I was told that it was a super easy hair style, it was off to get started. When she was done, my bangs were an inch above my eyebrows (Not in style anywhere). My hair was cut into a blunt, very short bob, and it was parted in the center (when I always part it to the side and the picture shown had it parted on the side). It still does not fit into the tiniest of ponytails, seven weeks later. At 57, I can say I honestly have never cried after getting my hair cut before, but this time, I cried for days. My husband was furious and kept making remarks about how awful my hair looked and he wanted to go and speak to her. But that wouldn't make may hair look better, so why bother. My sister couldn't stop laughing at me, and I have been trying to avoid the mirror for almost two months now. I actually believe this woman did her best job, it is just that her best job is terrible. On top of that she said some very offensive things and derogatory towards others. She insisted she was a Christian, but continued to put other groups of people down. Not to be considered Christian behavior. Feeling like she may be losing her thought process a bit. It became clear she is hard of hearing, a bigot, lousy at cutting hair and I believe the early stages of dementia may be at play. I am not saying this to be mean, I just feel others who are new to this establishment need to know what to expect. My business is not going to make a difference in her life, but she has made a major impact on my life. I am hoping by the spring to be able to get my hair cut again once, clearly somewhere else. It will take until Spring for me to have hair long enough to cut. I have been wearing a hat for weeks now, and I do not look good in hats.

She is easy to book appointments with and has a nice variety of availability. The salon itself is bright and nicely set up. There are two nail techs and several stations for stylists. They have two shampoo sinks (where you can also get waxing done) and two dryers. Shelby has done cuts, colors and full highlights for me and also done cuts for my kids. What I like is that she is honest about what will and won't work with colors and styles. If she thinks something won't last or that you won't be happy, she will tell you and suggest alternatives that might work better. She works efficiently but you never feel rushed and her prices are very affordable. I always look and feel amazing after a visit to Shelby. Highly recommend her!

I have lived all over the place and have had to find stylists while living abroad, in Texas, in a couple of spots in CA and now in PA. I hate finding a new stylist because you never know what you'll REALLY get. I read a great review about Nina before deciding to give Pure a shot and I am so glad I did. She got my length on point and helped me decide how the cut would work into some of the vintage hair styles I am wanting to try out. I will be back to Nina for color once I am ready for a refresh.
