I can't recommend Kirsten Nichols enough - she was wonderful!…read more I had used a box dye on my hair that had a strong copper red color and it was splotchy and looked horrible, so I made an appointment to discuss coloring/color correcting (which is free, by the way). I was given me multiple options and great suggestions. I ended up going with dyeing my hair a darker color to try to mask the red. She spent a lot of time taking tiny sections so that the color would be even and perfect. It turned out beautiful - my hair feels healthier and the color is gorgeous. She also gave me samples of some of their product so I can decide if I want to purchase. The facility is beautiful and everyone I spoke with was very welcoming. The price was very good, especially considering all the work that went into my hair. I will definitely be going back to Beauty Bar for any of my hair care needs!

I have NEVER been upset with a cut, though I was a bit skeptical the first time just because I don't expect much from Erie, PA's style department. What can I say? You have high expectations when you come from the metropolitan NYC area. ANYWAY - I made the mistake of getting my hair cut elsewhere when I moved away, and I had to return to Allison as soon as I visited Erie again. I don't know how she did it, but she fixed the disaster that was on my head. And they offer student discounts! I paid $25 for my cut here when I originally used to pay $65 when in NJ and $34 for the terrible cut in upstate NY. Allison is a phenomenal hairdresser - really. I wish every hairstylist was like her. She listens to what your concerns are as well as to what you want to achieve with your hair. She cuts based on texture and knows how to work with different cultural textures. My hair is thicker and coarser than most, and she creates perfection every time she cuts my hair. One thing to know: If you call, there's a good chance that no one may answer the phone. Since there are only two stylists, they often act as their own secretary, too. In total I had three visits to Moxi. I have mixed reviews. My two haircuts were perfect. However,…read moreboth times the stylist had long nails and she scratched the back of neck while washing my hair. Both times the back of my shirt got wet while getting washed because a towel wasn't put down. My third visit did not go well. It my first coloring with Moxi. I asked for a balayage and and offered my current balayage as an example. It was grown out but was still visible. I related I wanted a similar, natural looking light blonde highlighs on my natural brown hair. When finshed, I could see a clear line of blonde dye at my part. I didn't see any blending or attempt to have my highlights appear natural. I have had 4 or 5 prior Balayage's, none of them had a solid dye line. I told the stylist and good customer service was provided. The salon attempt to fix the dye. I left with a darker base black hair color and bold platinum blond highlights. I had to pay full price ($220). I cried for days because my hair looks fake and unnatural. I had chunky bold blonde patches all throughout my hair. The fix was livable but I was told will have to pay for the follow up service. A follow up was scheduled but I never went. I lost trust in the stylist and did not want to return.

Victoria took me as an appointment at last minute when I called in and asked for a touch up and to cut half an inch off of my hair. She was more than willing which I thought was great and accommodating. She said she has a cancellation last minute. Turns out she canceled the appointment herself all because she didn't feel like doing this woman's hair anymore. She claims the woman was late but the woman came in and showed her appointment card that was the time she said and Victoria still wouldn't take her. Another two people came in for their appointments stating they were at 1:30 and she said very rudely that the appointments were at 2:30 and the customers had their texts showing their appointment reminders for 1:30 but they were sweet and said they would come back at 2:30 but Victoria practically wouldn't let them even talk and kept saying "you guys just sit down and I'll take you right now I just need a few minutes to finish her (me) up". So as she did the two clients hair I'm sitting there for almost an hour and a half. Mind you I didn't even have anything to have sit in that long so it was pretty ridiculous. When I was finished she told me the amount it cost and I told her I wasn't paying that much for a little brown hair dye and for her to tone my blonde hair. She didn't bleach it. It was already blonde. And my roots were already brown. I paid her 160 and left. Her boss threatened to call the police on me if I didn't pay the 23 dollars. So I came in paid the rest but I'll never go back to that salon again. Absolutely ridiculous and expensive for no reason!
