The captain makes sure everyone has the best chance to find fish while the deckhands seem to enjoy some unspoken battle amongst themselves to see who can be the most helpful! You will never go without bait. Rods & reels provided for the whole family. Even if you bring your own gear, they have it so dialed in from the rod size to the reel capacity to the line diameter to the oz & hook sizes! Respectfully leave your gear home. It's worth the $5-$10 to let them do it. Then after you fill your cooler, they gladly clean your catch to your liking (dressed or filleted)

They are friendly and always there to help. I wish I could give more than 5 stars. With all the changes in Sheepshead Bay they keep with the true feelings of the Bay. I can't wait to go back next month for another amazing group fishing trip. So if you are trying to figure out what to do for the day, definitely go fishing with the Sea Queen. For $100, they'll bring you out from 6:30am-2:30pm, provide the pole, hook, jig, and explain everything you need to know. If you caught a fish, they provided buckets, and at they ends they gutted your fish for you. Everyone working on the boat was very genuine, really helpful, and wanted us to have a great time. In the middle of June you're looking for Bluefish, porgy, striped bass, and fluke. We went on a new moon, and apparently on new moons and full moons, the gravity shift changes the current and makes fishing more difficult. Long story short, we didn't catch a lot, but we had a great experience. They also gave us extra fish to bring home which was really nice. If you're in NYC and want to go fishing, this is an accessible spot to go!

I loved scuba diving and like most people when you initially try to get your scuba certification, your probably looking for the "best deal" like where can I get certified for the "cheapest price". Well you can go on yelp look up reviews call 15 scuba shops and I can almost guarantee not going with Ocean Horizons Scuba is a big mistake. When I went scuba shopping some places will give you your certification after one day in a pool and say "hey your certified, just go complete the course online and finish your certification dives and your PADI certified" After one lesson in the pool do you think your ready to get tested on skills underwater in the ocean or a quarry you decide? Paul's prices are so reasonable....There is really no competition. Paul & Jimmy (the handsome instructors) are the gurus of the ocean they drill the concept of diving and the risks as well as understanding. They embed information into your brain. The course is 5 weeks, that's right 5 long weeks of water time(spent either at YMCA park slope or Ft Hamilton high school) and class time... and if you aren't picking it up fast enough they wont "let you fly just yet" they will take you under there wing and spend individual time with you in the pool or tell you to come for extra classes(no they wont charge you, they genuinely have your best interest at heart). If you feel uncomfortable about a skill they will review it with you, over and over again. They prepare you to take the NAUI certification and are more than willing to help you out with anything. Paul plans trips to Cozumel and Micronesia and other places once your certified and also to complete your certification. Like I reiterated when you take a class with Paul not only do you become a certified diver but you just got a first class ticket to one of the best circle of divers to travel and dive the world with! Not only would I go back and do it all over again and again but this time I would take the paper with the list of other dive places and throw it out and not waste my time. I went to Thailand and It was such a great diving experience I owe it all to two hardcore scuba instructors. Working a full time job, and going to school Paul accommodates to every schedule possible. Weekend, Nights he has so many classes to choose from. Ocean Horizons Scuba has one goal and its making the best and safest divers in the world!

Patience is a virtue, and this crew definitely had it last Saturday. Let me first start off by saying that Captain Dom and his crew are totally chill, laid back, and just plain awesome! These are men and women that know the sea, and actually give you helpful tips on how to properly fish if this is your first voyage; really family friendly. Make sure you pack the following: 1) a towel to sit on 2) antibacterial 3) toilet paper (trust me) 4) pack snacks or sandwiches 5) CASH 6) BYOB!!!!! That's right!! They do offer drinks on board for a small cash fee, but you can totally fill your cooler up with anything your heart desires! SWEET! Usually, you are fishing for fluke, and fluke alone - but on our trip, people caught porgies, blue fish, sea bass and fluke! Loved the variety! Captain Dom took about well over an hour before we dropped anchor at our first fishing attempt. The further the day went, the further out we went, and the more fish were caught! What was the totals? He ties ALL his own flies and knows the migrations, where they are, and how to entice them. What's more he's very patient with both beginners and seasoned fishermen. His fishing equipment is top notch and his 38' boat is the smoothest and cleanest I have ever seen. Docked on Staten Island he immediately fishes the waters near and far, depending upon where they are migrating. He practices catch and release, but will help you harvest for the grill. He will carefully clean and prepare your catch. Having fished for stripe bass for more than 60 years, I cannot give him a higher recommendation. A day with Capt Joe will be one to remember!
