So far, my experiences with Cameo have been great. My first meeting was with Dr. Mike Munaretto…read more After a quick exam, he told me that my tooth couldn't be saved. Not the news I was hoping for, but it is what it is. He went through my options with me and fully explained them. I really appreciated that. I set up an appointment for the next day with Dr. Emily Smythe for extraction. She and her assistant (whose name regrettably escapes me right now) made me as comfortable as I could be, making sure that nothing was done until the novocaine was totally working. I was amazed at how short of a time this actually took. The extraction and bone graft for my upcoming implant took maybe 10-15 minutes. The next step, in about 3 months will be the post for the implant. Everyone from the receptionists who scheduled me and helped me with my insurance paperwork to the assistants to the doctors at Cameo were friendly and professional. I highly recommend them!

I see I'm not the only one who has had difficulty with Cameo's billing department. In early May…read more2026, I went to the West Loop location for a consultation for which I paid in advance. The front desk told me they do not submit an insurance claim for consultations, and yet they did. And in late May my insurance company sent them a check to cover the full cost of the consultation. In other words, Cameo was paid twice for the same visit, once by me and once by my insurance company. I was told that Cameo would require some time for the check to clear and for the reimbursement to be processed. Well, it's the end of August, three months after Cameo should have received the insurance payment, and I have yet to receive reimbursement. This is actually the second issue I've had with a reimbursement. The first was being reimbursed for services that were not performed. In that case one of the partners intervened to settle the issue. I should note that the dental care I received was excellent, but I will not return to this practice for any follow-on work. Withholding reimbursements seems to be a feature not a bug for this practice, and they've already fooled me twice.

Dr. Hollis is an outstanding dentist and I actually followed her over a year ago to this dental…read moreoffice after going to her for years when she was with a different office that was in my dental insurance network. Although this office she moved to did not take my insurance, I was happy to go to Dr. Hollis as she is a wonderful dentist who I knew has provided excellent care to me in doing the dental work I needed. HOWEVER, I'm very disappointed with how this office handles claims (or lack of handling them). I knew I was responsible for my office charges from my first visit and I knew this office was not in my network, but I felt as a patient that I deserve the courtesy of having this dental office submit all the claims for my visits to my insurance as I do get coverage from out of network providers. I found out from my insurance that the claims were submitted to Medicaid, which I have absolutely nothing to do with. The Medicaid office who erroneously received them sent them to the PO Box of my insurance; however, those claims could not be processed coming from Medicaid so they were rejected. My insurance notified this dental office to resubmit, which I just found out from my insurance customer service rep. today, and I can't believe the person at this dental office made such a mistake to send my claims to some Medicaid address instead of the BCBS address which can be obtained either by me, or Blue Cross Blue Shield! Apparently they didn't even call the insurance/C.S. to get the correct information on where to submit it, I guess because they honestly don't care, or were ignorant of following the proper steps.

My son had his out this week at Cameo Dental in River Forest. Dr. Hamedani. Here was the difference. Cameo staff unlike Stakos was personable, knowledgable and proficient. Stakos team took weeks to coordinate with insurance. Took the medical insurance decline and never called the dental insurance. Fumbled the dental claim, it had to be resubmitted. On the day of, I wondered why after an hour I hadn't heard progress or she was finished , but that she was being super chatty and they were letting her talk away, just gave her another dose. What? They were letting her talk and cry like entertainment. Hamedani had my son in and out in 60 minutes. To boot the experience Stako was almost $2500 over what was covered by insurance. Cameo $1100. Same coverage on the insurance. Pretty sure the cost of oral surgery hasn't gone down in 5 yrs. Check our anywhere over Stako.
