They appeared to be very friendly and accommodating at first, talking about all of the new changes they would be adding to the apartment such as a new dishwasher, new blinds, and an island counter. After visiting the place, we had a few questions regarding the application, progress on the changes being made etc only to be met with silence for over a week at a time. We signed the lease so we could "lock it in" despite sending several questions that were left unanswered regarding the document. As we approached the October 1st deadline to move in and were only 2 or 3 days away I stopped by to ask what the progress was looking like to pick up the keys, drop off the security deposit and make the first month's rent payment. I was told everything was coming along nicely and the ONLY problem was the dishwasher being delayed. I asked if she had a timeline as to when we could expect to be able to move in and she said she will call me and "let me know." We felt uneasy at this point and drove to the property only to find out that the island counter project wasn't even started, and the blinds were not changed. We reached out to them only to be met with more silence and decided we would take an offer on another place. We informed them on October 5th that we would no longer be moving forward and we accepted another offer somewhere else and she basically said, tough luck they are keeping the $1,000 security deposit. Reminding us that the agreement was binding. The same agreement that stated we were to move in Oct 1st, had received two copies of the keys when we haven't, and the same agreement that stated they would be providing a dishwasher that was never even installed.

Been in our place for 4 months and things still need to be done that were suppose to be done in the first week we moved in. She never returns phone calls and when you do actually get a hold of her she is never pleasant to talk to. Every time something is wrong its a fight to get it fixed. Thought that maybe it was just me having this problem... Nope. I have spoke with many to have or are renting from Cygnus in suttons bay, everyone has said the same thing. I quickly returned contract and a week later I still had not heard anything from Company. 12 days after I emailed letter of engagement I received my one and only communication. "I received engagement letter" Now I have spent several more weeks calling, emailing and texting! Calls go directly to voicemail on cell phone. Obviously no office staff. Owner has ignored calls, texts and emails trying to confirm any work was getting done given we are way past "turn around time" quoted. Despite my many attempts to communicate with Ms. Howe - nothing. The lack of professionalism is astounding and I cannot recall a worse customer service experience in my life. My condolences to friends and family if owner is dead or had a stroke. However, if Boardman Appraisal is still in business in 2018, do yourself a favor and seriously avoid. Unless you want to get jerked around then by all means call Ms. Howe (should be named Ms. Howe NOT) This has been my worst professional experience with a company that I have had in my 30+ years as a Realtor.
