The reason: because it is not in the town centre, where people who have a social tipple and can't handle their drinks frequent. The real drinkers know the best bars are on the cusp. The cocoanut has an excellent beer garden and pool table. And a good selection of Beers, Wines and Spirits.

It is a little out of the way, it is not in the main part of Kingston, - it's behind a park, down what seems to be a residential street. This helps sort the wheat from the chafe if you will. The people who come here have come specifically. The crowd is very young, but always up for a party. It has kind of an indie feel to it. There is a dj in the corner, a pool table, and best of all - sweets behind the bar. I don't know why I get so excited by jelly beans at a pub, but I do. So there. It is a good place to go to on the weekend. I used to work in a club around the corner, and the first thing that I had to do when my shift started was go around the pubs and drop leaflets for our bar. Do you think I actually did that? Hell no! I sat here with my mates and had some cheeky drinks instead. Good times.

The Fighting Cocks - Rock & Roll lives here.

However, the security guard at the front door didn't want to let us in because he thought we were too drunk. This was far from the truth and was proven by the fact that a few minutes later one of his colleagues let us in finally without any problems. We ordered two beers that we wanted to drink in peace whilst listening to good music. This couldn't happen due to the first doorman showed up. He abused us verbally and physically, shouted at us, was aggressive and incomprehensibly angry. He intentionally poured our drinks on the floor and on us, smashed the glasses. I normally don't write reviews like this and I worked in hospitality too. I don't agree that the customer is always right. But I've never experienced such rudeness. I've never experienced someone abusing their perceived 'power' like this. I've never felt so humiliated in a venue. We were absolutely harmless, didn't hurt or provoke anyone, just wanted to drink our drinks we paid for. We were shocked by this situation and other people around us didn't get this either. It was absolutely unnecessary and unacceptable. We may not have been sympathetic to him for any reason but this can't be an excuse for his horrible behaviour, we were paying guests. I also can imagine he was unwilling to let us in close to closing time (11 PM ish) even though we had no intention of sleeping there. We just wanted to spend a pleasant night in a good place and traveled a lot for it. Instead we had awful time there. There's no way I would recommend this place after what happened and I only hope there will be consequences because it says a lot about the management how they handle this. I'd prefer not to give a single star but the site doesn't let me send my review without it. There are way better places in London for those people who love rock and metal music.

There's a real dirty, good old fashioned rock vibe about the place and it's somewhere where you can go to chat to the staff and the regulars, since many people who frequent there really have made their own little scene of it. I think the pub itself is pretty cool, it's relaxed and there's no pretensions at The Fighting Cocks at all. I love the late 80s / early 90s rock vibe and the neighborly feel of the place. The venue is host to many of the rock / hardcore bands of the local scene. The venue is situated behind the bar and has it's own little vibe where you can stand or sit and watch bands and share a drink. Although there's nothing wrong with this place, it's a little out of the way for me. Unless my friends are down there or I'm in Kingston shopping or meeting someone, then there's no real reason for me to go there really. There are lots of even better little music venues in central London. A one-off is fine, but perhaps not somewhere to go especially to have a drink...

They have a 'yellow card' discount system whereby for an annual price you can get some pretty good reductions on food and drink. The Mill is a reasonably large pub with lots of tables, a few sofas and even a conservatory area which is fab in summer although rather drafty as the winter evenings draw in. It has a nice long bar which is always well staffed so waiting times are rarely an issue. This will differ depending on the time of the week you go of course. Food waiting times are reasonable for the type of fare they sell. The scram is regular pub grub. I would say that the burgers are more customisable than the norm and they have early bird special discounts and meal deals. I'd recommend the "Its a Scream" burger with the works. It melts a hangover like a ray gun to the face. All in all, The Kingston Mill is a good value, clean and respectable pub and in being so attracts a good, well behaved crowd. It is a nice spot for lunch with the olds and has a lively scene for an evening with your mates.

There are various offers on different nights of the week but we all flock to one night in particular - Mill Mondays. I would say it's cheap but I think an example will explain it better - I got eight drinks (6 pints of coors and two Jack Daniels and coke) for £9.50. That's the price of two pints in Central London, and I was pretty happy that it was my round when we got to the Mill! The only bad thing about The Mill is that it sometimes gets way too busy and the bar staff don't seem to be able to handle large queues; you can be stood for 25 mins which is why people buy many rounds together. Also, they've got rid of the upstairs pool table! To summarize, great pub in a great location, check out Mill Mondays to see what the hype is about!

This is a very large Wetherspoons, conveniently located in the city center of Kingston Upon Thames…read more What I love about Wetherspoons is that each one is quirky and unique. This specific location had the greatest number of mismatched chairs and table tops I have ever seen. I mean, I counted at least 8 different styles of chairs in the dining area. I learned how to order on the app, and it is such a quintessentially British thing to do... it seems like the less awkward social interaction with servers or queuing at the bar, the better ;) Food and drinks arrived in a timely manner, and there was always a manager on duty walking around and making sure things were running smoothly and patrons were happy. Spoons has, quite possibly, the greatest chicken wings on Earth. Nothing in the US is even close to these amazing and surprisingly large and meaty wings. The other food I have tried has always been good, but the wings are GREAT! Food and drink is reasonably priced, especially compared to US food prices. The menu is gigantic, they offer pretty much anything you can think of. I stayed in Kingston Upon Thames 2 nights/3 days. Did I go to Spoons all 3 days? Yes, I did. Once was for breakfast, and it is really awesome there is the option to order everything a la carte and build your own breakfast. A solid 4 stars for this location!
