It remained closed until 2008 where it was restored and now it full of performances from comedy shows, plays and music. On this first time visit I came here to see Bobby Lee's stand up performance. Our seats were in the balcony level way above. At this level it is a little diffcult to see the stage as you have to angle your head down wards to see the stage. Viewable but its very far. The seats are very tiny and it difficult to walk across as every inch is used up in the theatre. Acoustic were great and the overall detail and restoration is amazing to look at. Great theatre venue overall but would recommend not sitting in balcony.

This show was a history of America through documentary film clippings as well as the music of each era in the 20th century. The cast is extremely talented with their singing and dancing in the costumes and choreography are excellent. I've been coming to lambs players for years and I've never been disappointed and I always leave with a smile on my face and I look forward to seeing the next show that catches my eye. I wish I could take some shots during the performance, but it was strictly prohibited. The facility was designed very unique, you get to walk down and even further deeper down to reach the main stage, yet everything else got pretty well maintained except for the construction next door right now, I really don't know what they're going to do with the old Horton Plaza, although it was dearly missed. Parking was easy, some meters are expired after 6 PM, if you don't mind walking a few blocks like me, some expired at 8 PM, then you might have to put in a few bucks, but that's downtown for you, I think everyone else would rather pay valet and enjoy their sit down during the show, am I right?

I imagined these murder mystery dinners to be Sherlock Holmes-esque, dark and mysterious...but instead this was quite the opposite. We came here on a 80's theme 'Til death do us part' series and the setting was straight out of a cheesy, tacky 80's theme prom night and I loved every second of it. The actors are hilarious and quite talented as each would play more than one role. I laughed so much during the entire show. While I would have hated to be one of the chosen ones from the audience to participate in the show, it was really fun and funny to see audience participation. Everyone was a good sport about it and it made it that much more memorable. But, I'm so glad I was out of reach to be called upon. Service was great. Food was edible, but who's there for the food anyway. It was my birthday and they made sure to embarrass me by having everyone sing Happy Birthday to me. (thanks, guys - I hate you). The actors and actresses all put on a great show and allow you to take photos with them at the end. Overall, it was a really fun night and would definitely recommend it.

As if it was fate, I read an article by San Diego magazine that mentioned the Red Spade Theater. I had never heard of it before, but with an affordable ticket price, I thought why not? I pre-ordered the tickets online and we enjoyed the most magical evening with Sebastian! There is plenty of parking in the area and it's easy to access. The theater is so small and intimate. There were maybe 20 people in the audience with us and everyone had a chance to participate in the show. Now, I'm kind of a skeptic. I was trying to pay attention to all the different spots on the stage. When he'd tell us to look at the cards, I'd look at his hands or the table, but he wasn't giving anything away. After seeing Sebastian, I have to believe that magic is real. I swear things just disappeared right in front of my eyes. It was an incredible show. This is truly one of the best possible date nights in San Diego. This show was incredible and Sebastian is so talented. I'm in awe!

Our evening started at the small wine bar next door. It is a cute bar with friendly owners. There, we got a couple glasses of wine to start off the night, when the magician came in to start a few tricks at our table. He made his way around to all of the couples in the bar. We then brought our wine into the small theater. it looked like there was room for about 30 people, but our show had only 8 people. We filled the front row. The show was very crowd interactive, and I found myself on stage immediately. I realized that the magician had been interviewing people in the bar in order to be able to talk about them in the show. With an audience of 8, we were definitely able to participate quite a bit. It was mostly card and slight of hand. I appreciate how close up everything was, and thought he did a really good job. All in all, it was a fun show, and an interesting way to spend an evening. Perhaps I'll return after a while and enjoy the show again sometime. At $32, you can't beat the price. It made for a fun date night.

Sometimes I like going to theaters that has old school vibes which this theater definitely has. It's very nostalgic with its velvet theatre curtains, old Hollywood cinema lights, and red carpet. We came 30 minutes early since it's not assigned seats, so it's first come first serve. I removed a star because though the attendant was helpful and nice, I think they should have one attendant for the concessions and another attendant to check the tickets. Since they only had one person, the line got really long. Also, since it just opened a few weeks ago, I was hoping it was refurbished and renovated, while still keeping its traditional style, but it didn't seem like they updated anything. No matter the case, this theater is still great if you're going for vintage vibes. It's also near a lot of cafés, which is convenient.

Seriously I didn't realize the human body could bend, twist, shake, etc., like that. Maybe the cast isn't human? Maybe they are aliens from Dancetron come to teach us to lay down our guns and pick up the beat? The choreography is creative and the moves are very clean and tight. I won't lie to you, this wasn't exactly my jam. My daughters love this show and this was the second time seeing it. I was told it was a spin on Romeo & Juliet which is cool and I saw some common threads but sometimes was left just going "huh?" Still a lot of "wow" factor in the dance. The theater is pretty neat. Located off Imperial Avenue, it looks like this took over two houses? There is the front lobby which you have to exit to go around back to the theater itself. The first floor holds the majority of the seats which look comfy. The second floor where my wife and I sat was bar stool seats overlooking a balcony. I wasn't very comfortable after a while and kept fidgeting. Get seats on first floor. The dancers also move through the audience. It didn't happen this time but my girls and wife said the stage also moves. They also said this show was different at times which would allow it to be fresh even for a repeat visit. You could tell there were a lot of die hard fans shouting out at dancers by name. The creators, Keone and Mari, have a lot to be proud of and it would not surprise me to see this hit Broadway. If love dance and want to support local artists hit Beyond Babel. Okay, I'm done. Time to moonwalk my way off the stage.

The theatre is small and tucked away near a British pub. Parking is rough on the busy streets but we found a spot in the residential area nearby. We arrived close to the start of the show, so there was not a long wait to check in. The process was quick and they sell reasonably priced popcorn and drinks in the entryway. They do open seating in the very small, intimate theater. The show started promptly and the energy was so fun. The host was high energy and both teams gave it their all. Essentially, the two teams compete against each other with the voting being done by audience cheers. I'm glad to say that the team I was rooting for won! Throughout the show, they would often invite audience participation but they do not force it on anyone, and it is all very good natured. Time flew by and there was a 15 min intermission in the middle. The bathroom is outside the theater and there were staff member standing by to direct lost patrons. At the end of the show, the cast members stood by the exit to chat, and accept congratulations and high-fives as we left.
