As a Palmer alumni, I can say I wouldn't have wanted to go to any other high school in Colorado Springs. The location is great, the teachers are in general good, and the feel of the place is great. Palmer also has the I.B. program, an international program that offers a 4 year accelerated level of study, which can give significant college credits, since you are taking college-level courses in high school. The program requires rigorous testing at the end of the program, which would make even the hardened college-student sweat, and definitely is a great program to prepare for college. Also, since the IB program is closed to IB candidate students, this means that IB students have the same classes with a small-ish (100) group of people for 4 years. This means many strong friendships can flourish. IB aside, the school itself still excels in academics compared to other schools in Colorado Springs. The sports are eh - ask someone else who cares. The administration however of Palmer was iffy at best, especially given the needless draconian hall-monitors, as well as the bumbling of the principle and vice-principle. Security is unnecessarily tight..so much so that I think the people there actually are considering that a terrorist might decide to go ape-shit on a random high-school in a random town in a random state. Ridiculous. Still, if you have an option, send your kid here...they will thank you later.

I attended this school from 2nd grade through high school graduation…read more What makes this school unique is how it does not follow the traditional schedule of most schools. Breaks are taken from elementary school on to have students experience the world around them. Each year students take a different trip, starting in elementary school to places like MEsa Verde or Bent's Old Fort. In Middle School there are many programs to choose from that allow you to take a break from constant studying and explore topics that are interesting for you (I remember taking comic book art and acting). In High School the ECS program cannot be beat. A whole month off to study a topic in depth while traveling? I went to Italy and Bulgaria with these programs and felt that they enhanced my life and encouraged me to explore beyond what most students have when finishing high school. It also gives students the opportunity to play sports when they may not of had one in other schools. It may have changed since I was there, but anyone who wanted to play a sport could, and tryouts would only determine JV and Varsity levels. Small class sizes and dedicated and talented teachers make this school stand out. I owe a lot of my bright future to the great education I received at this school.

CSS is an amazing non-profit, independent day school. Easy access since they have a bus system. Absolutely no other place quite like it to receive such a well rounded education. Small classes sizes. Stellar faculty, staff, parents, and students. This is a place to call home.

But as I watched him walk to the front doors, I knew my lifve would never be the same. This first day at school was horrible for my little tater tot. As soon as he entered the school, he was snatched from his friends by a women who goes by Amy Hamiltion. This women exerts her control over the 6th grade class with a iron fist, a iron fist that she then uses to smash down their indiviuality. When my beloved little boo tried to make a good impression on his first day by trying to be himself, a women by the name of Erika Patino said that no, he couldn't wear a speedo in the building. He also is not allowed to hug random people in the building. As has been mentioned in several other reviews, Mrs. Patino does happen to play a cowbell with such gusto that she nearly blew out my widdle boy's ear drums. It doesnt end there. As a single mom at the age of 25, I was judged by many teachers who thought I was his sister. They even tried to pretend I was a student to fuel their endless gaslighting agendas. Because I am unemployed, I couldn';t give my son a nice homeade lunch. At his first day of school, he bit into a breaded chicken sandwhich-better described at roadkill. He was diagnosed with food poisining, simply because it was raw. That day, I pulled hm from the public school system and now he is homeschooled by yours truly, when I have a break from pouring over the bills. I can only hope he gets his time tables down by senior year. -Lilah Posquinay

How would I rate this?? ZERO STARS!! My child has been bullied all year long at Manitou Springs…read moreMiddle School. Not one time was he bullied at the elementary school. Principal Dustin Cady, assistant principal Areashea Bartlett, & Henny Guynn among others, did NOTHING. My son called me from school one day to report what was happening, so I talked to Guynn who said, "He's down here like every other damn day." WTW?! Another bullying incident occurred & my son was told to stay away from the Gaga pit, but the bullies were still allowed to play?! Not one time did they say my son was at fault. Not one time, but they still sided with the bullies?! How does that work?? This school is my Alma Mater & I was proud to send my children here, but now it just sucks. I've had a lot of friends whose children also went here & they've pulled them out to go to other districts. Their have been happier ever since. Superintendent Sean Dorsey is the WORST. Former superintendent Elizabeth Domangue was great. Unlike Dorsey, she actually contacted parents immediately when they had an issue. Dorsey ignored because like every other staff member in this district, they only care about the paycheck... I sincerely hope Manitou Elementary, Middle, & High schools shut their doors FOREVER!!

She caused myself and my daughter emotional duress. I called her in confidence asking about my rights as a parent and my daughter's rights as a student for the state testing. she explained that she was not the person for me to speak with. I became emotional as I am a recent bereaved mom and I'm very protective of the only child I have left. Christina then prodded me for more information. I told her about my child's school experiences of the last 18 months and my concerns of her safety and well being. I again reminded her that I didn't want my call on record. within just hours she had reached out and shared our entire conversation with my daughter School putting her emotional well-being at risk. Christina had a complete lack of regard to the safety of my young daughter. What makes it worse is that she knew that my young son was tragically killed and that my daughter and I stumbled upon the scene and saw him lying dead and bloodied in the road. She knew that we were both already under extreme emotional duress and she took advantage and used that for her own pleasure.
