Super cute place for dessert lovers! They have cupcakes, frozen yogurt with any toppings you want and ice cream. They had plenty of flavors to choose from. I'm a huge lemon fan so I got a lemon cupcake but I could have ordered another the carrot cake. My hubby got a chocolate ice cream cone. I tried it and it was some of the best ice cream I ever had. While we were on vacation with our best friends, we took our children (11 kids) for ice cream after dinner. They do not let you taste the flavors and if you want water, you have to buy a bottle. They had one employee working and for a group of 17 it took way too long to get our ice cream. Also, the flavors were limited. We will not be returning. read more

It's hard to own a successful dessert place right next to Big Bucks, but it seems that Corolla Cupcakes doesn't even try. Out of their 6 soft serve/ froyo flavors, 2 of them are down and do not work. When I asked if I could have a cone with vanilla soft serve, I was told "why would you want to? The ice cream would melt". So apparently you can't use cones unless you're getting hand scooped and you can't get any toppings with that. And with their toppings, half are empty and aren't refilled, even in the early afternoon. To be fair, the store name advertises cupcakes- not ice cream. If you are looking for a cupcake to try, give it a shot! But if you're searching for ice cream, just go to Big Bucks right next door. It's not worth it here. read more

Ugh, save yourself the money and go buy some cupcakes at the grocery store or make your own from a box mix as that would surely taste better than these cupcakes. We stopped in here and ordered two dozen cupcakes for my 6-year old son's birthday while we were vacationing in Outer Banks as that is what he wanted versus a cake. Wow the cupcakes looked amazing so we bought half a dozen. They were terrible. I had coconut which tasted like nothing. My daughter had lemon she couldn't even eat it. My husband had banana he said it was ok. My daughters friend had the cookie cupcake she said there was no flavor. Corolla cupcakes are the things I look forward to having every time I come to OBX. Not only are they delicious- they are also made there! They are actually like heaven in your mouth. Super cute place right in Tim Buck II. I did not get a chance to try the cupcakes, but I did have some froyo and it was really tasty. They have a pretty wide selection of flavors and the layout was nice. I also like that they sold jam which I thought was cute. My only issue was that the service wasn't the greatest. We were lucky enough to find this cupcake shop the day after they opened. Delicious cupcakes, very reasonably priced, very helpful and friendly staff. My daughter had the vanilla raspberry, my wife had the salted caramel. These were soo delicious we had to go back before going home from the OB! We tried the chocolate coconut, lemon and strawberry shortcake on our 2nd visit, all of which were very moist and tasty. Please make this a stop when in Corolla, you'll be glad you did! My husband wanted some geloto but they didn't have any (sign says will be in Thursday so it's not made in house) so he opted for a cupcake. I didn't think they looked good from the case and didn't want one. He got the red velvet and it looked worse in front of me. Looked more like melted cool whip than icing. As he got into it with the spoon he said it felt hard like it had been frozen. When it tipped over you could see that it was soggy on top and bottom so was likely frozen at some point. I took one bite and was disgusted, never have I met a cupcake that literally disgusted me. It was dry and did taste like cool whip that had been melted, my husband agrees, so gross!! It could not have been icing. I feel ill just from the one bite. I told him to just throw it out if he didn't want it, which he quickly did. Waste of $4 (seriously $4 for one disgusting cupcake!?) pass this place by! read more
