In this fashion, we were lured into this establishment by the owner while walking through the silent street on a gloomy afternoon. The open, airy space is pleasant and unpretentious. The welcome by waiters was more comparable to a greeting that a host would provide for guests into their own house. Being presented with a wide spanning menu felt completely unnecessary, as within moments of sitting down, the chef came out of the kitchen to greet and tell about the house specialties. The middle aged Italian man was dressed very cleanly and despite little knowledge of English, provided a better recommendation than one could ever desire from yelp or from the menu itself, which still laid untouched on the table. The prosciutto bruschetta was bursting with flavor of fresh, ripe tomatoes that gave off the sweetness of a cherry, the fullness of sun ripening and the flavor that can only be experienced in a dream. The paccheri pasta looked as beautiful as it tasted, in a pleasant green color and the flavor profile that one can only experience in select establishments. Amusingly from the name, the Carlo Alberto pizza was the least favorite of the dishes had here, but was very interesting. If coming through to visit Pompeii, do not miss this establishment.

We tried many things, all were good. The most exceptional were the beef tartare, fried cod with cauliflower and the spaghetti with seafood. We also tried pork belly, fried seafood with salad, tuna tartare with mozzarella, mixed salad, and pasta with tomatoes and mussels from mt Vesuvius. We had an early lunch so we were literally the only ones in the restaurant on a random weekday at 1pm. We ate on the beautiful outdoor patio area that was essentially enclosed in a tent, perfect for the slight chill in the air today. The locals would probably call this place expensive but for a group of 4, we spent about 120 euros including a few glasses of wine. They also have a nice 4-course tasting menu for 35 euros, 50 if you add wine to each course. For us, for the quality of the food with all local ingredients, it was certainly well worth it. Overall, a nice slow-paced restaurant to rest our feet while sipping on some local wines and tasting some good food after a long morning's walk in Pompeii.

It is not in a touristy part of town at all, you wouldn't think it was much just from the outside, but once inside it is beautiful. The atmosphere is very romantic and the food - delicious. It's not your typical kind of restaurant though. Basically you get a choice of meal sized antipasto dishes - you'll enjoy cured meats, cheese, bruschetta, different types of pickled or marinated or sun-dried vegetables, wonderful wine, and amazing locally made honey and marmalade to accompany the different types of cheeses. Oh, and the dessert is fantastic so make sure you treat yourself! It is WELL worth it. The host, Yuri, was an absolute delight. He spent a lot of time with us making sure we were happy and got the right types of dishes for us, and regaled us with stories about his favorite place in the world, Napoli. We had no interest in going there but after talking to him, we are now very excited to plan our trip. Basically you go to Vincanto to experience a different way of eating, a beautiful ambience, wonderful wine, and delightful hosts. We very much enjoyed our night here and you will too.

It looked nice and inviting from the outside and the posted menu and prices were very reasonable. This was our first official meal in Italy and it was amazing! I had the capresse salad and my daughter had the pizza Quatro formagi, we shared the a frituri (not sure if I spelled that right, but it's fried calimari and prawns) Tomatoes were beautiful and fresh, and the mozzarella the best I've ever had (maybe there's better, but it's the best I've had so far) drizzled in olive oil and lightly seasoned with basil and herbs. The calamari was perfect, crisp coating on the outside and a wonderful texture. Not the usual rubbery fair we get state side. My 13 yr old nearly polished off her entire pizza and the little piece I had was deliciously cheesy with a perfect stone oven crust. All this, 31€. (2€ for the bottle of water) The restaurant itself was very clean and nicely decorated. I noticed as many Italian patrons as I did foreigners. A lot of the staff spoke some English and did with out having to be asked, although I had hoped to use some of the Italian I learned before our trip. I can't attest to the authenticity but it was far better than all of the higher priced Italian restaurants I've been to back home. Enjoy!

Stuzzico di…read moreLucias is the most popular restaurant in terms of reviews on Yelp in Pompei, and it has received a lot of accolades on TripAdvisor, so I made my way over on a Friday evening. Service (3/5): Your typical European experience. Not terribly efficient, friendly, or attentive, but it's a pretty small restaurant so that made things easier. Also a bit of a language barrier with the waitress but we made it work. Ambiance (4/5): Indoor only here which is a bit unusual for Italy where al fresco dining rules. Lovely restaurant though with a homey, comfortable feel. The only downside is that there's no A/C so it was a bit stuffy. Drinks (4/5): I had a Peroni beer (not their standard but one I hadn't had before). It was refreshing. Food (4/5): They start you off with some complimentary bruschetta which is a nice touch. From there, I had the meat platter which came with a generous amount of sliced pork, salad, and bread. I ate half and took the rest to go which they boxed up for me nicely (including utensils which was a nice touch too). The meat was cooked just right at a medium and was flavorful. Overall: If you're looking for a great meal in Pompei, definitely stop by Stuzzico di Lucas. It's located a stone's throw away from one of the entrances to the Pompei Ruins. And also happens to be in the heart of Pompei close to a lot of other restaurants, bars, and shops.

We also had the pasta with mushrooms, a bit too much oil on the dish but it tasted great. As soon as we sat down the chef sent us Bruschetta and came out to ask us how we liked it. The Tiramisu is really amazing. You could taste the bottom layer was moist the mascarpone sweet and a perfect cappuccino. Very affordable. Atmosphere: Cozy room, right across from one of the Pompei ruins entrances. Italian music playing in the background. It was a Monday at about 7, there were only two other groups there so not too busy. Service: Amazing, the head chef was not too busy so he was checking on us a couple of times. He was really proud of the food they make. Tips: definitely get the Tiramisu.
