In trying to find out about a drug prescribed for me by one of the other counselors, I hit a brick wall. Twice I have had a prescription refused by my insurance provider. I have tried to resolve this asking if there is a different Rx the insurance might approve as I can't afford the large out of pocket expense. The counselor who prescribed these is either not in or will not return calls. The office staff person who said she would call back did not call and is not in, nor will the other staff member assist me. She said "I don't want to get involved." It's never a good sign when a mental health agency destroys your mental health with its poor behavior. In addition, the prescribing counselor also ordered a drug that we had just agreed I would stop taking. I had no way to stop the order or to reach the counselor. I had to pay for something I no longer can use. Benhaven Counseling is becoming increasingly useless.

My therapist and case manger stop contacting me and I haven't heard from them in an entire month. Nobody even called to make sure I was still alive or anything. To make matters worst when I tried to report the issue they basically didn't even care and made excuses for the staff's behavior. Instead of being accountable for their actions they blame the patients. You would thing a therapist would take their own advice and be accountable. When you have any issues they won't fix them they'll just give you the run around and cover for each other. If I could I would give this place a 0. I also had an incident where their Lyft drivers where canceling my rides and I reported it so they could be aware of a situation and they blamed me for that too, even though I documented the situation before hand. They stopped giving me rides for a year knowing I was unable to get to my appoints since I don't have transportation. They are just rude and uncaring. I have had bad experiences at two different locations. Lakewood and Beachwood. Just stay away from here if you really need support or help. You won't get it here.

She told me a doctor would call in two weeks to schedule an appointment. That felt like a long time, but I waited. Three weeks passed. No call. I left a voicemail. Still nothing. So I posted a review here, asking why no one followed up. And today--after a full month--I got a call. Not to help. Not to apologize. Just to say they "talked about it" and decided they wouldn't take my case. I asked why. The woman on the phone said they had no reason. Just... no. No explanation. No referral. No compassion. I came to them in pain. I asked for help. They made me wait, ignored me, and then slammed the door in my face. How do you treat a person like that? Maybe they read my review and, instead of thinking, "Let's actually help," they decided to punish me for speaking up. If I could set my one-star rating on fire, I would. You pieces of actual garbage. This place was a complete waste of time. I needed help. I was told I'd be scheduled with a doctor in two weeks--which was already strange. But it didn't matter, because they never called. Not once. Not having a psychiatrist and being so close to my home, I decided to stop in and check it out. What I found was different from a traditional doctors office. I met Dr. Turell the psychiatrist and owner of the practice who runs the place. There was old vinyl records playing and a comfortable atmosphere. Dr. Turell was very friendly and welcoming. I set up an initial appointment where he asked me a lot of questions to get to know me and then prescribed me medication. After a few appointments he introduced me to a service he had available for depression called Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (TMS) which I had never heard of. Being resistant to many psychiatric medications I decided to give it a try. Dr. Turell was very helpful and professional throughout the sessions I've had with him. I definitely recommend Strive Mental Health and Wellness to anyone in the Cleveland area looking to tryout TMS or get involved in wellness programs he has to offer.

I made an appointment. They robo-called to confirm the appointment. Then they texted to confirm…read morethe appointment. Then I showed up for the appointment and the doors were locked and I couldn't even get into the building. I called the number and they don't have any real people answer the phones so I couldn't even ask to be let in. I tried the dial by name feature, and the name of the counselor I was supposed to be seeing "does not exist." It's one thing to be dismissive of your customers if you run a fast food joint, or a video game arcade. If you are in a business that deals with people who are reaching for help dealing with mental health issues and you cannot even spare them the dignity of showing up for the appointment that you made and twice confirmed, you probably shouldn't be in that business at all. It is damn hard for a lot of us to reach out to begin with, and this kind of dismissive business practice just heaps more unnecessary and unwanted burden.
