After going to Hewson & Ollio, my opinion has been changed for the better. As a kid I wasn't the most diligent about teeth-brushing and as a result I needed four fillings done in my upper and lower molars. Worst. Experience. Of. My. Life. (NOT done at Hewson & Ollio.) The dentist I saw at my last practice had a very hard time getting me numb and I was uncomfortable throughout the entire procedure. It scarred me emotionally - it took unease and made it fear. I was terrified to go back. Then I heard of this practice through a friend of my mother's. She promised me that they were different and that they would put me at ease. I was way overdue for a check-up so I put my fears aside and scheduled. (Okay lets be real here - my mom FORCED ME to schedule an appointment.) I went in for my first cleaning and was quaking in my boots. My mom's friend (who just so happens to work there) was laughing at me and telling me to suck it up and that I'd be fine. They took me back for my cleaning and I was a bit more at ease. I didn't have long to sit in the waiting room and think about what was going to happen. I cannot remember the name of the woman who did my cleaning but I wish I could - she was SUPER sweet and very good at what she did. She put me at ease and made me relax during my cleaning. Then came the moment of truth. The dentist came in, looked at my teeth and gave me the news I was dreading. I had a tiny cavity just starting in one of my teeth. It'd need to be drilled. *Cue terror* I told him how afraid I was of having anything drilled and he told me not to worry about it, that he would take care of me. He has such a kind personality and he was so careful during my exam that he definitely lowered my anxiety level a little bit, but the real moment of truth was when I needed to have the tooth filled. I showed up for my filling already full of anxiety and prepared myself for the worst. My appointment was scheduled for 11:40. By 11:50 I was numb (almost pain free injection - good job Doc!) and by 12:15 I was leaving the office. It was the fastest, easiest, most pain free filling I've ever had. I barely felt the novocaine injection, the drilling wasn't bad at all, and the filling was over so fast that I was literally in shock. I came back to the waiting room so fast that my boyfriend actually thought something had gone wrong and I hadn't had the filling done! I was amazed, and so happy with the experience. I used to be afraid of the dentist. Now I'm afraid that he'll retire and I'll need to find a new one! I HIGHLY recommend this practice.
