Due to a problem with another Dentist, I just gave up. I still had to do something about the teeth so after checking around, I found Southpointe Dental. My teeth had to be surgically removed. I had Dr. Aul, he did a really good job without causing undue pain and bone breakage. The staff that helped me were just great.

The doctors here really are warm, friendly discreet and respectful. The front end staff is also friendly and they are accomodating. This is such a busy office and they do the best they can to get you in. This is my one beef with this office and that is the fact that they are soooo busy. If you need to get in to see your ASAP, making an appointment for later in the day or even the day after is next to impossible and you have to go as a walk-in. I have to admit this is disappointing, but you have to keep in mind that at this moment, Sylvan does not have an urgent care facility. So the doctor's offices in town take on that volume. I do think that that extra workload can make quality care difficult and thus this office is aggressively advocating the urgent care unit. With the population growth in the last few years, our community sorely needs it! If you really do need care after hours and can't make it into Red Deer, doctors are available on call. I did have to utilize this once and the doctor was kind, attentive and did not feel put out for the visit. Mind you, I did need it! I would recommend this office if you are looking for a family doctor. However, as mentioned before, due to the population of Sylvan, be aware that scheduling is difficult, but do keep in mind that the demand is out of their hands.

I have had to take medications pre-dental appointment to calm my anxiety and stopped that strategy after one incident when I found out I actually drove a car and went to work while under the influence of tranquilizers. I went to one dental clinic in Lacombe, and that was just another sorry episode that only confirmed my fears about dentists. Until my daughter-in-law and son took their family to Aurora. I was so fortunate that my first experience was with Dr. Lowry. The whole clinic, receptionists, assistants and Dr. Lowry, were consistently reassuring me, and comforting me in the first visit - and that was only an examination. My second visit involved two difficult extractions - I felt barely a pinch and the experience was almost cathartic, in terms of my almost lifelong fear of dentists. I just finished my third visit, another extraction - of an infected molar - again.... nothing but reassurance and comfort. After a horrible experience at a different dental clinic, my children were terrified to see another…read moredentist. When I first called 52nd Street Dental Clinic and relayed our story they promised a good experience for my kids. When we arrived to our first appointment, we were greeted by name and were introduced to everyone there. Everyone was so kind. Once my kids were in the chair, the dentist explained everything he was going to do, before he did it. He showed them all the tools, how they worked and told them what they did. The dentist asked my children if it was okay before performing any procedures. He not only put them at ease but made them feel like they were in charge of the appointment. My children left their seats smiling rather than crying for the first time in years. Furthermore, when I got to the front desk, they presented us with a gift of an electrical toothbrush! As far as billing goes, they direct bill your insurance company before sending you an invoice. This clinic gets both my vote and my business!
